I love the simplicity of your tail! People usually go over the top with their tails with all sorts of extra stuff on it (which theres nothing wrong with that at all!) But I love the change! Love that your goal is not only to ENJOY the grace and beauty of being a mermaid, but to educate the world about the ocean and it's life. You are AMAZING!!! 💜
As a competitive swimmer, I can say that it's impressive how she can move with that tail to move but I can't do it because in swimming you have to use both your legs and I got used to that style, I looked like a dying fish when I tried it lmao. Her holding her breath underwater and eyes open for that long is really impressive too, I'd die because I really can't survive without my training goggles-
I love her! You can just see how much she enjoys her job and she is living proof that you can take anything and give it a little magic. So inspirational, I would love to meet her one day.

What a wholesome lady! She just seems like one of those rare bubbly and happy people that deserve so much happiness and are always underrated. I wish the best for her in life!
Her home is beautiful. The area her house is in looks really peaceful, I love the nature completely surrounding it. And the inside looks super comfortable and cozy. I love everything about her and her residence. I feel like I could call her after I had a bad day and she’d invite me over to drink some non caffeinated tea and sit on the porch with her or watch movies.

+CreativePetKeeping I think it's kind of silly-- if your point is to educate kids about marine life, why would you trick them into thinking mermaids are real? And captive animals in aquariums are generally living in captivity because they wouldn't survive in the wild.
@CreativePetKeeping
8 жыл бұрын
+justcogitating Realistically, if you look at the numbers of animals on display in captivity.. only a ridiculously small amount is them have been rescued because they cannot survive in the wild. All of those fish you see in the tanks have been captured or bred ...for the purpose of display. When aquariums get beluga whales for example...did they rescue them? Nope. Captured perfectly healthy specimens for ..display. Back in the day, this was the only good way to learn about these animals...if you wanted to see a certain fish you had to go to an aquarium, but now you could learn so much about an animal by just googling it. I hope that ..in the future...aquariums and zoos will evolve to ONLY house injured animals and those needed for breeding programs to be rehabilitated and released in the wild. We can have mascots, such Mermaid Linden provide children with education and inspire them. She's not here to trick children..but to get them interested about the creatures of our planet so they can seek out more information, get educated, and get involved. That's real conservation! :)
@justcogitating
8 жыл бұрын
+CreativePetKeeping I haven't asked every aquarium, but I know the one near me only displays animals that either could not survive in the wild or were bred in captivity. My understanding is that it is currently illegal in the US to capture a beluga whale and/or an orca. Maybe specimens were once captured on inappropriate grounds, but now that we have these animals used to living in captivity, I have no problem with displaying them as long as they are happy and in healthful conditions (whether it is possible to achieve that for an orca is debatable, I don't like having them in captivity). I see no problem in breeding animals in aquariums that can live long, healthful lives in captivity for the purposes of display. I still think it's misleading to have a realistic looking mermaid in with all of the other animals at the aquarium. I think there are children who will believe she is a real mermaid, and I don't like lying to kids (or to anyone, for that matter).
@CreativePetKeeping
8 жыл бұрын
+justcogitating I live by Shedd Aquarium, and they get wild caught fish as well as breed. But what if you go to a Disney park? There are princesses that look and act like the ones from the movies and are very convincing. That's part of the fun. Its not really meant to be a lie..we all know that mermaids are not real..and its up to the parent to explain it to a child. You can say that its a diver in a fish fin if you so choose. Then it becomes no different then getting educations from tank divers. Its just easier for a child to relate to and remember a pretty lady vs. a person in a full body diver suit.
Its really amaxzing to see how kids react to mermaids. I was swimming around in a clear lake with my friend in our tails. A couple kids came by to ask us if we were real. It was really cool!

yes that happened to me when i was only 12. I was swimming around in a bay in Montauk and these little kids came by to see us. The two boys left snickering and saying that we weren't real, but the little girl stayed. Now I am a mermaid in one of the aquarium in Philippines and I can hold my breath for 1 and a half minute and sometimes 2 minutes. After watching this video I stopped drinking coffee and other caffeine drinks. Very kool that she lives her passion , & educates children about the sea. Looks like she's having so much fun.
I've been following Linden since about 2014 when I saw her in this show with Hannah Fraser, who was the first pro mermaid I'd ever seen. (I got the finis competitor monofin in 2013, that one particularly because that's the one she uses) Now mermaid Melissa is another inspiration, and they're all just so amazing to me. They're doing what I have dreamed of for practically all my life. What I would give to meet them one day, or just to see one of them live. I'd fangirl so hard 😂

I have so many questions 1) at what age can I work as a mermaid 😂😭 I’m 15 2) where can I go for dive training cuz ik that teaches u how to hold ur breath for a long time 3) do u swim in freshwater only?
@jennzubia9568

Abigail Jeong honestly you can start training now, most aquariums ask for Suba Certification which helps with breathing and seeing underwater and of course being good at swimming and most age requirement is 16 and up! But if you really wanna do it you should start training now! 😊 there’s a lot of programs that are for scuba and swimming just depending where you live! You should research about your aquarium in where you live, and look up the requirements! That’s what I did.

for your third point, that depends on the person. some mermaids swim in saltwater tanks like the one she's in. it depends on what you can tolerate and what type of jobs you get. and if your wondering about salt stinging in the eyes, you get used to it and it eventually doesn't bother you at all if you do it enough.

I wanna learn to hold my breath longer so bad. She's absolutely awesome and everything I'd aspire to be. I studied animal care, have loved swimming all my life and have recently ordered my first ever mermaid tail. Our family is really water activity based, my grandparents both were swimming instructors, my mom swam competitively and my brother became a diver for quite some time. And now both me and my mom want to become mermaids!

When I was seven I went to a mermaid place in Florida, it was full and I was BALLING my eyes out. We went the next year and it was amazing. That was more than 5 years ago. I did see one of the mermaids in land walking around though-

Wow!!! I really love your story!! I love the sea just as much and I always loved being underwater , listening to stories of mermaids and my first Disney movie that I truly fell in love with was The Little Mermaid. I got my first fin was so exciting to try it out, but unfortunately the material is already acting up and both my straps broke on my monofin. Anyway it is such a pleasure to meet you and thank you for sharing !! I love your tail 🥰🧜♀️💗
To think she can hold her breath underwater for 5 minutes is absolute nuts! As an amateur scuba diver myself I last recorded holding my breath for 80-97secs but that's absolutely nothing compared to 5 minutes as I would admittedly be terrified of oxygen depletion or in other words asphyxia as there's always a risk of incidental drowning! This really is pushing the boundaries of human endurances to the absolute limit! But ladies like Linden really have a real gift and talent not only for holding their breath for long periods of time swimming underwater dressed as mermaids but for using her abilities to help inspire and educate others regarding oceanic conservation! Linden is an absolute credit and a huge inspiration to both the international diving community and all those who are involved in oceanic conservation and research as a whole, I really wish more folks were like her! 🧜♀️
I'd love this to be my job one day!!

I like that she’s not one of those performers that just put half of their heart into it. I’m sure it has its ups and downs like any other job, but it’s good to that it seems like something she fully enjoys.

Mas Yadi if you were on a ship and a tsunami happened, you wouldn’t be sharing it around like that. Also, even a “small tsunami” isn’t small. Secondly, no, a real mermaid wasn’t in the ocean, it was most likely a whale or orca! Professional Mermaid are in big pools and Aquariums. So, I don’t really believe you, but others can. It’s fine.

When I was a kid in Hawaii, at the age of three to four , saw an Ester Williams movie. She was a mermaid! So I got the crazy idea, that the longer I spent in the water, the better chance I had of turning into a mermaid. So that became my life's goal! Silly prune skin girl! I am still NOT a mermaid, but I sure had fun trying!
Wow she partnered with Body Glove to produce a good adult monofin I can afford. It feels really stable, efficient, and comfy on my feet. Can't wait to finally try swimming in it.
LOVE the mermaid themed house and clam throne 💗💗💗
I wanted to be a mermaid when I grow up. But my father told me to not have dreams that are not going to come true. I remember locking myself to my room and crying for almost 16 hours.

Lucky YOU!!!! How intriguing to be a mermaid. And yes, it would take people back if you told them…….so graceful.
For all the people who always wanted to be a mermaid, I think Wichee Wachee State Park still offers a mermaid camp to train to be one. It is the oldest perforning mermaid troupe that started back in the 40s. They use breathing tubes rather than free diving (like Mermaid Linden.) I read about it in the teen novel, Breathe and Count Backwards from Ten, by Natalia Sylvester.
