    the way he shows to clearly have a grudge against vax and uses his dm powers to victimize a particular player (which you should Never do in a real dming situation) is so on character for grog it's genius

    Dawn dish soap (small amount) and acrylic paint over top of something laminated will give you a scratch off sheet. I would use black because of the hiding it would give you.

    My favorite opener, as a GM, was: after individual guided character creation sessions with cards inspired by the opening of Kingdom Hearts: the PC 1st session was waking up as unkitted plebeian villagers, to the sounds of screaming in their little village that was actively being burned down by goblins: No Tavern In Sight, ALL call to action! "Grab that Pitchfork Farmboy! It's Time to BE A HERO!"

    As much as it sucks in reality, it all comes down to your DM. I just started a new campaign and our DM absolutely stunned me with how amazing of a storyteller she is. Kept all of us engaged the entire session.

    I did a villian one shot and told them to grab a monster They were excited to try being evil and i put weaker enemies in the game to let them power game They had a lot of fun But my fave part made them even more excited, a placed an NPC from our main campaign If that wasn't clear enough, i left the one shot on a cliff hanger, where they see the Radiant Citadel in the distance (i used a portion of the RC Module to have a plane shifting main base) They were so hyped that the villians they were playing were now going to be lieutenants of the BBEG

    I did the double DM thing which is super fun. I discuss extensively of the world we are in but the DM will have a plothook he is planning to DM as the arch for the session, such as capturing the thief or sneak into the hall. Once that is done then I will take over for latter half of the session. It’s super fun

    hi, I have a need of advice I'm guest dming a one-shot in a couple of weeks and one of the trials is the 2d doppelganger thing from oxventure the final season and I put a riddle on the ground to say they need to fight someone else's doppelganger if the players figure out the riddle do I make them do an intelligence roll to check if their characters figure out the riddle or no?

  • @coolman4202

    @coolman4202

    For a one shot you want to keep things moving, I’d say just give them the riddle because THAT is the challenge not the roll itself I hope this helps.

  • @fyredust960

    @fyredust960

    If the riddle stumps them for what starts to feel like an uncomfortable amount of time, then yes, have the entire group roll an Intelligence check with a fair DC. A one-shot needs to move along from scene to scene at a reasonable pace or it will turn into a two-shot or three-shot, which could be a good thing or not ideal at all depending on your group. Good luck with your game and don't forget to just have fun with it; the players are there to have fun with you too and leaning into that will make it easier on ya!

    It’s not a cool scratch sheet, but use a plastic sleeve and erasable marker. Cover the character info and have the player wipe it clean when they need to use a stat.

    I was nodding along when you were talking about D&D being not for everyone... but then you just stopped? The takeaway from D&D feeling slow and old is not to just go 'well I guess it's not for me', it's to try a different game that is faster and more modern. My recommendation would be any Forged in the Dark system.

    If you do the "DND inside DND" idea, try to limit the rolls your normal characters have to do. I tried the idea, and there were a few times I had to specify which character needed to do the roll and it can get confusing. "Sorry, your normal character, not the one they are playing."

  • 2 ай бұрын

    You can probably just use post-it pieces to cover the character sheets instead of scratch cards, if you want to go that route.
