In the Europa Barbarorum mod, the best usage of the "First Cohort" style units were absolutely the Casse Druids, Calawre, and their Northern counterparts. When you have an entire army made out of morale booster units, they become essentially unbreakable, and that faction really needed that boost.

Ty! Very interesting. It does seem that actual melee/force count matters more for morale anyway. I might do some of my own testing to see if more priest/morale boosters stack or not, but then it's hard to track due to larger forces - force numbers affecting morale then.

Thanks for the work in testing! I fell though that for a better feeling you'd have to put the unit 1vs1 just barely in range of the command unit behind. I know that the additional troops would affect morale as well, but that way you'd at least have pretty straight numbers on how many people are left before the unit breaks and can compare better.

Thanks for the comment. That might be worth considering when testing this further. :)

First Cohort or more specifically their "Eagle" is pretty good at keeping trash units in the fight longer. The Catholic chanting preists honestly were disappointing but expected.

Thanks for the comment. Do you know the exact values they bring additional morale? I thought it would be like 1 or 2 per priest unit or Eagle unit :)

Seems like a slight boost, do you think it’s worth it? The Druids seemed to help Celtic forces but I usually brought 2.

Thanks for the question. I don't think that the priests alone are worth it. But the results with First cohort and priests was significantly better in my opinion. I think the latter option is worth considering. Then again, if I could have another unit of plumbatarii instead of the priests, I think I would go with the plumbatarii. I hope this answers your question :) I might make another video to see how well the effects of multiple priests stack. Let's see.

@@qualityoldgames7721 the price and upkeep are also a factor. It annoyed me that I couldn’t find exact moral numbers after the chanting. Screaming women to me, from Germania, seemed well worth the price.

@@Vandelberger Agreed on that. Maybe the priests could be useful in early game as at least the training cost is quite low (and I think the upkeep cost as well). My perspective might be too focused on Western Rome, as they are quite a lot on defensive in the early game and they can utilize city centers for morale :) Thanks for the comment.
