My father is a polish Jew married to a catholic convert who has great reverence for “ John Paul the great.” It was lovely seeing the beautiful cathedral. I’m always comforted to be a part of the Polish community. They have a great love for family, incredible food and as you showed us volunteerism. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦💙🇺🇸

Hi Orest thank you for the good content you are creating. Nice to get some updates that is not only war and killing. One thing i have a question about is how is it for ukrainian men to cross the border in and out of Ukraine now? Remember they restricted travel out of Ukraine in the beginning of the full scale invasjon.. Keep up the good work..

in Poland there is free health care, it is paid from the taxes of working people. Every child, every working adult, every retiree has free professional medical care. If necessary, he has a free operation, and then free rehabilitation in a sanatorium. From February 24, Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland also have the right to use health care as if they were Poles. In general, Ukrainians in Poland have automatically obtained many rights like Poles, in fact they cannot vote in elections. Polish taxpayers pay for all this. In gratitude, President Zelenski granted the Poles the same rights as the inhabitants of Ukraine. A Pole can now buy land, an apartment or open a business as if he were a native Ukrainian. If it goes on like this and having a common enemy, Poland will join Ukraine. It will be the largest state in civilized Europe and will help Ukraine join NATO and the EU. Together, we will be a force that will resist Russia militarily and Western Europe economically. In Poland, there are warehouses full of aid, clothing, hygiene products, the only thing that is still missing is fresh food and money. Some items cannot be shipped, must be purchased locally. You have to pay for electricity, Russian gas and rent for premises.

I'm wondering if I can source some produce like onions, potato, garlic and fruit that are locally available and have it delivered but then would they be able to store something that is fresh?

you can also sell your garlic, potatoes and fruits and send them money to the account. Remember that very often the cost of transport is the biggest cost. After sending them money, they will go to the local market and buy from local producers. In this way, also support the Polish economy, which is in complete ruin due to the ruling populist PiS party in Poland.

most of the people you see were born in communist Poland, where there were no disposable diapers and many ordinary medicines, even communist fakes (Aspiryna - Polopiryna) were hardly available. They know how to deal with difficult times, how to build something out of nothing. These realities shaped us. These skills have been dormant for the last 30 years, but when tested, they exploded throughout the nation. See how many Poles have taken refugees into their homes, how many have made their flats or houses available to them for free? Why? Because until recently they lived in a 3-room apartment with a 4-generation family and they know how it is in such a difficult situation. After Poland's accession to the EU, many Poles left for work in the West. Often without a penny and knowledge of the language, they were able to find themselves and succeed. Now, years later, being in Poland, they know perfectly well what people lack in such a situation. Also remember that a large part of Ukraine used to be Poland and thanks to Moscow's scheming it is no longer, but we still feel a bit responsible for our Slavic brothers. If you want to help, send them money to the account, they know best what they lack in the warehouse and what people from Ukraine most often ask about. Sending them garlic and potatoes may cause more trouble than good. What if some Polish farmer gave them 50 Tons of potatoes? At least call them and ask what they need if you want to pay transport companies.
