@@fynkozari9271 there have been various attempts made by local & state governments in the country to ban it, but it dosen't last for long. In some places like hill stations, especially the religious one I has been successful, the ban on plastic water pouches has been successful for about a decade(8yr) now, is hard to get stuff done in a country the size& population of India but we are taking steps.

Bless you with every success. The world needs more businessmen like you - caring for your employees AND the environment. Making real products; helping to build the real economy.

@@SuperBennnnnnnnn Just regulate it so that it becomes more expensive. Like they do to hemp. Hemp is 20-40 times cheaper than tree-paper-products…yet it’s regulated so that it costs more. They want to cut down forests. Do the same thing to plastic.

Traditionally, disposable plates in India were made with dried leaves. Unfortunately plastic took over but i hope we can go back to the sustainable traditional ways

He even shared that Indian government is not assisting his company when it needed them the most. India said it won't export wheat to only the rich countries that are hoarding food grains amid the global shortage and inflation, while it WILL CONTINUE to provide aid to countries that are vulnerable and actually in need. The new measures are only to REGULATE wheat export, since it is unfair for Indians having to pay higher than usual, despite India having sufficient harvest to sustain herself, while the countries that CAUSED the war in Europe, leading to this shortage want to BLAME INDIA for the global rise in prices. You like to conveniently downplay the West's role in being the root cause for the same, as China continues to haord *50%* of the GLABAL reserves of Wheat and *70%* of that of Corn. With the possibility of a delayed monsoon in India, it's only fair the government puts its own country's food security over the rest, having a population of 1.39 billion isn't a joke.

Bagasse is already used in 1. Power Generation 2. Furniture 3. Paper And now plates and bowls good thing... And above that another byproduct of sugar cane used in 1. Potassh fertilizer (potsh is not found in India. 2. Ehetenol...used in petrol 3. Cogen Literally India is using more than 98% of sugarcane... Proud to see that

From Product to Packaging , 99.99 % eco-friendly and biodegradable. 😯 I wish they had business also in here Philippines , because the Philippines is also sugar based industry.

I’m here in California Fontana and at my school we have the trays but they alternate from them to plastic once in a while BUT this is a start to change and I love it 💕💕💕✨✨

India has changed, and changing day by day now Indian cities looks more beautiful after government banned single use plastic. And these entrepreneurs are doing great job. I came back to India from USA and surprised how India is changed and now many foreigners come to visit India and do case study. Good job Indian government

I remember how as a kid, when we went for picnic, there were leaf plates which made food more tastier. Its been years i have not seen that type of plates

Yes. Bleaching is a big deal in paper products, too. One of the reasons paper plants are so nasty is so paper towels, facial and bathroom tissue will maintain perfect whiteness on shelves, indefinitely. Makes inventory management much easier, but I'd buy yellow paper all day, if it were environmentally friendlier, as would most people, if made aware.

It's unfortunate that the his alternative costs more than the plastic plates. If he eventually develops his business to be able to produce bagasse plates for cheaper, I'm sure it will become more common than the wasteful ones.

@@marvisjames6935 Only issue with the increase in demand, usually results in an increase of administrative costs and costs for expanding their factories. Because the people on top of the business want to become a millionaire/billionaire as fast as possible. Not exactly sure how businesses work financially in India (if they follow IFRS), but for the rest of the world, a corporation always finds a way for themselves to profit first and drain the life of everything around them. Its usually when there is competition when it will result in lowered costs to the consumers. And that is only if another business lowers their costs first, hoping to offset their sales with volume.

Great respect due to this man when I heard that the company hasn’t turned a profit yet but his employees are still being paid a living wage. Best thing was they used to cotton like fabric to pack their plates etc. Because I saw other companies in same line using plastic to pack their eco savvy products... Great efforts of owner despite running in losses as mentioned....

usa imports finished product from china and exports trash to them so that a) they get rid of trash. b) the ships don't sail empty wasting fuel

Knowing about the company now, i would gladly pay the Rs2 difference in any restaurant & street foods as long as the brand is properly display, Hope they make it to my country

Special thanks to the factory owner for manufacturing these products. This is a solution to the plastic/ polythene nuisance in india.

Kudos to Chuk. Going green and paying living wage. A small company succeed to do both while big company struggle to do just one.

Offer these for sale on Amazon or local retailers in the US, it would fly off the shelves. Better yet, offer it a warehouse clubs where we can purchase in volume. Our family uses compostable wood cutlery due to the fact that total price for a GIANT 400+ Piece set is about $17.00 vs 15 for plastic. This would be a welcome alternative to paper plates for picnics and gatherings. Plus vs water use in our area, these would be great to use during the week some nights to save on water.

It might globalize his business, but you saw that he did not compromise even when it came to his packaging. The company strived to live out their goals and values, so they sourced entirely biodegradable packaging. Why would they compromise when it comes to the market their item is sold in? Amazon, while it could increase the cash flow of the company, is not a marketplace that is in line with the values of the company. From the product, to the packaging, to the marketplace.

These are real heroes. Government should exempt taxes for ecologically friendly companies as incentive and also lend money to them with low interest rate. In the long run, it would save the government much more in treating the landfills and facing dare impacts of environmental issues.

Thankfully atleast urban cities like Gurgaon here in India, have seen a huge increase in the demand for these sugarcane plates. Although they are 2x the price of plastic plates ( atleast I found the price to be double here ) they are 10x more durable than thermocol plates. Any stalls or gathering organised by my residential complex has a NO PLASTIC CUTTLERY rule, so it has been a huge leap

I'd support this guy's company if his products were available in the USA. I could order them online, but arguably it's more accessible when sold in grocery stores and there for more available to restaurant industries, theme parks, events, and so forth. Also a huge fan of mushroom packaging, also a company I would support if I found a product packaged by them.

It is also very common in India to find old-fashioned clay cups being used for chai [the milky tea they sell from stalls in all streets] and palm leaves still being used as disposable plates in some restaurants to reduce plastic waste.

Treehugger was a derogatory slur used to call hindu communities who protected trees by British. Now after 100s of years we know the importance of saving trees.

Such companies should be given more support and free advertisements for their amazing contribution to the environment . 🌼

This amazing. Indian government should promote these kind of products like subsidies (in electricity, transport, fuel for these companies) to keep the product cost lower than polystyrene to acquire market. This is need of the hour to reduce pollution.

In Jamaica, when we had a thriving sugarcane industrý; the trash from the squeezed sugarcane was made into bagasse sheet boards - similar to plywood. But it wasn't totally from ground-up material; you could see the dried long sugar cane stalk.

BTW - good to see Jamaica in the India News with the Indian President's visit - I was sending an email about it to my Jamaican-born plumber friend Dave Holness [here in the London] a few days back - as he had done some work for me last week - what I did not realise that the Jamaican PM is also called Holness.

We use such sheets & cardboards made of bhussa here in india from decades as well..that's nothing new.

True, my dad carries containers in a bag, we buy our meat from fresh meat shop nearby , and they pack it in our home containers, this way we have reduced around 10 plastic boxes per month.

I used to live next to a sugarcane plant in the Philippines and the smell of that sugarcane waste is unbearable. We use that as fertilizer but can be dangerous when lit. Dry sugarcane waste when lit with fire won't go out until the last fiber is burnt. I never thought that it can be made useful as this. Good Job again India 🇮🇳🥰

I’ve been buying sugarcane bowls on Amazon for a long time. Holds water overnight and never gets mushy. Better than paper by far.

We need more of these people thinking about solutions to these problems and coming up with real world innovative solutions, nothing but praise for them and their work.

This is an AMAZING idea! I love seeing recycling initiatives that are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, and socially beneficial. The workers being fairly paid is super beneficial to the community, and I hope that India's upcoming ban on certain plastics leads to a boom in revenue. Mr. Krishna's family is making an impact and deserve all the success that comes their way!

Nice to know of such initiative turning waste into reusable material and at the same time providing an alternative to ever increasing challenge of plastic waste.
