My heart goes out to you and this misdiagnosis/mistreatment. It is inspiring to hear you stuck to your gut and knew they were a medication effect and advocated to get off despite no encouragement from your care team. This is a tragedy, and but now you are at a turning point and looking down a road of potential on life without medications. I’ve seen so many patients become alive before my eyes during their tapers - no longer blunted and dissociated. I wish you well and excited for the next phase of your life !

Improper diagnosis and improper prescriptions is one reason I’ve seen marriages end. The worst part is many psychiatrists will NOT involve the spouse for feedback. It’s really tragic because so many people are hurting as a result of bad medical practice. These big pharm companies and the doctors prescribing them care more about money and not being sued than actually doing real medicine.

How ironic that the industry coercion is based on human connection, when human connection is one of the first things to be negatively affected by the meds they are marketing. The symptoms they are meant to be treating are often caused by lack of interpersonal relationships in the case of the patient.

AND THE BEST THING WHITH THIS NEW MED IS THAT IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!! GOING TO DO YOU DEPENDENT!!!!!!! and just a few years later, it was known as the worst of the benzos!!!!!! I litterally want the authorithies to look at all md and fire them who presribe to much of this or to much of antidepressant, also doing you dependent!!! Thanks for doctors like u! Can we please talk about the link between taking an SSRI and the sudden increased craving for alcoholic drinks. Also there might be a link between anhedonia because of low dopamine caused by medications like SSRI and antipsychotics. After a short stint on Risperdal I became a raging alcoholic at 23. I literally wanted to be drunk all the time and I wasn't like that before.

same. I had the same experience. Also my medication (ssri) altered my metabolism. I got fat and couldn't lose weight no matter what. Only keto works but it's too hard to my body. Also when I gained weight I also got very unhealthy. No matter how much I worked out. And no, I didn't eat any more food I ate exactly the same amount of food and calories and gained weight fast. Got a belly and insulin resistance. And yes, also started to drink a loooot of alcohol and craved cheese and unhealthy food. No I didn't eat the food but I literally had dreams about fast food. These medications are poison and should only be taken for some months. But yeah people don't take it seriously. It's really scary. And yes, med withdrawal is hell.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post links, but there is a research study on Pubmed titled "Worsening stimulant use disorder outcomes coinciding with off-label antipsychotic prescribing: a commonly unrecognised side effect?" What it talks about is exactly what happened to me. I was on antidepressants and antipsychotics for 25 years for Bipolar disorder, and after being put on those medications I became an alcoholic and drug addict. The cravings to use drugs were overwhelming until I quit the antipsychotics 2 years ago. It pretty much ruined my life

How often do you think psychs and NPS prescribe medicine or diagnose someone with unresolved addiction issues? How can someone make an accurate diagnosis when someone isn't sober or is abusing alcohol/drugs? Not to mention other lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise. It isn't even considered that any of those things could show up as mental illnesses, when in fact they aren't. Great point Dr. Josef you made, if peoples finances, relationships, diet, exercise, health etc. are in order you'll be in a great position

What does a psychiatrist do? Mainly they write prescriptions. They ask you for a number that is supposed to represent where you fall on a depression or anxiety scale. They never define those terms. They ask you to recite the present day/date. 10-20 years ago my wonderful, empathetic psychiatrist TALKED to me and helped me survive the terminal cancer illnesses and deaths of both my husband and daughter. Sadly, I know that this treatment would not be available today. These doctors are employees who report to their organizations, with whom they share your personal information. 🎉

MINUTE 22-25+: Seroquel (quetiapine) being used off-label for SLEEP (or to damp down “anxiety,” ie stress/stressors?) is incredibly common. I know someone led to believe (by the prescribing doctor) that the drug was so *benign* that the person could take “handfuls” without ANY regard to the doctor’s own prescribed daily maximum dose. (As it’s not a controlled substance, when/if the patient runs out, the doctor can just RX more of it, without regard to guidelines for prescriptions in many US states that must be submitted to “the state”- eg for electronic records of prescriptions written for “controlled” substances). This person did not have the horrific side effects that many do, but that was just the doctor’s and patient’s “dumb luck” (not intending to be harsh here with either of them). Drug companies and med schools/residencies in the US (in contrast to eg Switzerland) lull Americans in particular into belief that drugs are mostly benign.

The problem is we can’t get any help from community mental health if we need bcuz it’s only an acute service, at least where I am regionally. It’s otherwise all private. Going to private hospital was a great experience, but it’s so expensive to keep up with top cover just to be eligible. I have adhd, severe symptoms, adult diagnosed, previously misdiagnosed, but ongoing issues kept coming up. I have many standardised tests, seen a neuropsychologist to get my diagnosis. I’ve tried most therapies and DBT skills was very useful. I find it very frustrating when ppl throw around the idea they think they have adhd but are doing very well in life, work with no complaints. I tell them adhd is a serve condition with impairments negatively affecting them at school, work, home etc. they tell me it can be mild and just cuz I’m doing well doesn’t mean I might not have it, whereas someone like me struggles on a daily basis and has ended up on dsp cuz my ptsd made the adhd worse. I literally couldnt work or study without my medication. And I have to be careful on other drugs like baclofem cuz they worsen my diagnosed executive dysfunction.

It was hell, 8 months have passed and not only have I not been able to touch a drug but I am totally immobilized at the idea that I may have been sensitized from those days and that those symptoms could return even using normal drugs (beta blockers, antibiotics, pressure pills). I am afraid that I may have one of those that everyone calls "setbacks", due to a kind of sensitization of the central nervous system, Could you make a video explaining in which occasions these setbacks occur? If the symptoms have gone away does it mean that there has been no damage? Why people who have been on psych meds have problems with antibiotics? How long does this sensitization last and in what cases does it occur?

I've read three articles written by former editors-in -chief of major journals that promise nothing but lies from those journals. There are more.

You would have to start small tapper off that med at that mg , before you know it you will be taking a smaller amount and not be taking it any more but an actual fact is later you can have withdrawal system from not taking it kind of like a relapse and SSRI as well

Thankyou for your response, but once you start the new reduction of 10 mg , how can one decrease down further to 0 , as the smallest mg. do not come in tablet form.

@@shahnazali4000get your dr to write a script to a compounding pharmacy. This will be a liquid form of the drug. This will allow for a slower taper. Toward the end, most people will want to go slowly to allow receptor occupancy to level off. For instance, some patients cannot go greater than a 10% reduction every 4-6 weeks. Some may need as low as 1% drug reduction every month or so. It just depends on what symptoms you feel. It won’t always be comfortable. However, we want this to be as tolerable as possible. Can someone still function? We want people to function even if they’re uncomfortable…we don’t want someone to be completely to the point of dysfunction and illness that they’re unable to do simple daily things. Pay attention to your symptoms during your taper to report back.

I use to take cymbalta for over 15 years and i tried taking it again no way my body reacted and rejected this med , it does not work had serve side effects not sure if it something my body is allergic to but worse ever i had to stop that asap. , then i started paroxatine hcl so terrible with the side effects madey symptoms worse , i dont like the fact that it makes you run on e so freaking nauseous and no appetite is the most terrible thing i experienced with this med , i had serve side effects i dont take take any more neither ,both of those meds for me was like worse than drinking two cups of starbucks coffee, My question is why is there titadiom dioxide and other chemicals in it that causes these issues more of the side effects than getting to the root of the issue of nerves and cells that alligim better than this , it makes me feel upset , and another fact is all the meds have changed and ingredients, its amazing how that is , i do however take a antianxiety med though it does help some , but my goodness These meds are supposed to help fpr people instead its making them more sick by all the darn yuck side effects it does not make sense to me at all except the phrama makes more money
