it's quite funny how Pep actually looked to overwhelm Zinchenko's side by playing Walker as more of a traditional overlapping full back JUST AS TIFO PREDICTED!!
Pep Guardiola has truly evolved as a Manager. He has become less rigid (with possession) and more flexible over time. Back when he was at Barca and Bayern, some people criticized Pep of being one-dimensional, always priortizing possession but at City, we have seen and are seeing something different and out of the norm of what we would expect from Pep.
Pep has changed how City play against all big teams this season. Against Bayern he used the wingers to do the job and protected the Center. Away he let them have the ball wide and kept his defense solid. If you look at them defensively, having 3 natural Center backs who are all good on the ball plus Ederson makes them have 11 vs 10 on the ball players. Arteta mentioned this in the interview and tried to stop Ederson from playing hence why they had 2 pressers between Ederson and his 2 Center backs. The trick today was use Haaland as a false 9 so Kevin can run in behind Holding. Arteta wanted to cut supply to Erling so Pep knew that and made Erling the supply himself😂😂😂😂😂 Freaking mental lad! Overall, what a game by City! I was cheering at every small detail on that game. Also, Kevin ran circles around Partey. He moved from the left 8 role to right then central and wide….10/10 come on City🎉❤
We live in an era of Pep Guardiola's football....That's my joy.
Man pep is crazy!
This season at home across all comps: City 6-3 United; City 2-1 Dortmund; City 4-0 Chelsea; City 2-0 Chelsea; City 4-1 Liverpool; City 3-2 Liverpool; City 4-2 Tottenham; City 1-0 Arsenal; City 4-1 Arsenal; City 2-0 Newcastle; City 7-0 Leipzig; City 3-0 Bayern.
Haaland and KDB changed roles 😆
It's funny how I expected Grealish and Silva to dominate more but all of a sudden City pivoted to the middle which was a suprise 😂. Kudos to the tactician
We need a video on the evolution of debruyne. This man has played so many roles for city it’s crazy
Pep reinvented city tactics it's unbelievable to see him dropping his former principles and philosophy and trying something new he's turning haaland into a beast 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pep is the Messi, Maradona of managers.
I don’t know but if u noticed the way Haaland and de bruyne played reminded me of the same counter attack that led to their goal against Bayern
Pep really is the THANOS of football - De Zerbi's , José , Carlos Tactics mixed in one match ... Genuis
If you didn't already know this, Pep is a damn GENIUS
Akanji is a good surprise, against Liverpool i thought he was a little bit off the pace when comparing with the rest of defense, the guy is stopping everyone.
De Zerbi’s tricks introduce confidence, even arrogance to the build up play. Just hold up the ball against the press is risky enough 😂
Thanks for the analysis. In the other words, Pep used Roberto De Zerbi's baiting tactics, but instead of playing thru the line via his 2 pivots, he preferred Harland's and Kevin's strength upfront to exploit the space at the back, consistent with Spalletti's fashion at Napoli. This completely deny Arsenal's ability to regain the ball in the central part of the pitch as they normally do. L Spalletti once said, there is no formation in modern football, its about spotting the space and exploiting it.
Pep is scarier than Undertaker.
Always heard of a defender pocketing a striker, but never heard of a striker pocketing the entire defense of the opposition team. Haaland is pure brilliance.
Building up in a 2-4-4 has been made famous by De Zerbi. I guess Pep takes notes too. It’s pretty hard to mark or press high up.
