I never post KZread comments, but this video compelled me to speak on how much Charlie has helped me and my crippling OCD. I was diagnosed with OCD (The self-control type) which made my life a living hell. I always thought there was something under my skin and would scratch till I bled trying to get it out, my whole life I thought and was treated like a freak. When Charlie talked about having OCD I cried because I couldn't believe someone cool like him would ever share the one thing that was single handedly ruining my life. Unfortunately, it has not gotten better, but my self image has. I know I probably will never get to tell Charlie how much he helped some teenage girl with OCD through high school, but it's fun to imagine. Thank you Charlie for helping me, if only a little, to feel like a normal girl

The thing with Charlie is that he really seems so genuine. With that amount of subs and views the channel is a juggernaut, but you never get the impression that he is doing it for anything other than fun.

Discovered him in 8th grade and been a fan since. 26 now and love to see how much he's progressed.

I never stopped watching critikal. Started when I was 11 and am now 24. You could always tell he was genuine. He deserves every penny he's made. The persistence and evolution of his content is almost unmatched haha. The positivity and honesty this dude has been pushing for years and years is gold. He's just a different type of KZreadr.

I dont dislike him tbh but i absolutelly hate the huge amount of vids he does on very negative topics that dont really need to be known by everyone and that really only make people mad for no reason and sometimes arent even funny, like i get making fun of weird things but not every bad things need coverage that will only be a dude talking about them that, imo and reactions of videos that while he does add stuff to, id say they do kinda still defenetly steal from others and that arent really that good as other videos he makes, i hope he does more videos on funnier things and less reactions

Not everyone needs to know it, sure, you may not be interested, but there are people who are. I think for every bad thing he covers in one video, there’s something good he’ll bring up for another one. There’s a balance. The internet is a wacky place.

I think what makes his content great is that he is always talking about something that interests him or plays a game which he likes playing. He makes what he wants and the viewer can either watch it or leave he just is himself rather than trying to form a particular image or avoid a particular topic because of public opinion.

i love charlie, but i’m more of a recent viewer that found him over the pandemic. i had no idea about the charity work earlier on. i knew he was a very genuine and selfless person, but that makes me respect him so much more. it’s nice to know that a creator who helps me so much with my mental illness is so kind. i really do love that guy 💕

I believe from the very bottom of my heart that Charlie deserves all the good that the world has to offer. When I see his videos I get glimpses of his inner child having fun, which truly makes me happy.. Imagine being a child all alone and afraid due to the mental illness he struggles with.. I just found his chanel recently, I like his humour he is very witty. I had no clue he was such a good person donating to charity (even thought they r mostly corrupt and I agree) but overall someone who has real good intentions. I also knew his esports organization before as I used to be workibng in competitive operations before I knew his org but had no clue it belonged to a youtuber. This is crazy, i love his content, thanks for this video. Please make more videos like this telling the story of old school creators, its much more positive than random internet drama and give us a recap of our favorite yt channels.

I remember when he was just a faceless youtuber posting gameplay clips with hilarious commentary. I focused heavily on other things for a dew years and when I returned to watching yt regularly, he had completely switched to a streamer with a large fanbase going by his real name “Charlie”. It felt a bit weird at first because his anonymity was something unique about him but now I’m glad we got the “cr1tikal” we have now

It’s pretty funny that I am in no way Charlie’s typical demographic but he showed up in my videos at some point and I kept watching though I’m an old boy compared to him. He strikes me a genuine dude and I’m glad to see his progress. Maybe because I relate to him when I was at that age or just because he seems a good dude, I can’t answer that. Either way, I don’t matter, I’m happy for him

1:23 It's completely understandable that a lot of people aren't aware of Internet culture from back then, but flashy editing WAS NOT the norm back then, while raw honesty WAS a normal thing. In fact, you still see that raw aspect in a lot of the old guard of content creators, your Philip Defranco or your Destiny or Mutahar, the people who started a long time ago are generally more genuine than the people who started in the past several years. Charlie caught people's eye for the very reason Ray William Johnson said he did: because of his deadpan humor. At the time, gameplay videos were either just people showing off straight no-commentary gaming footage or providing tutorials & opinions. This was even before the trend where people started screaming at gameplay footage, which got off the ground with Pewdiepie's Amnesia video in late 2010. Charlie was an alternative to that, someone who was funnier than the other (often genuine) gameplay commentators that came BEFORE him, but he also didn't conform to the "loud = funny" meta that started AFTER he did.
