My Russian blue is now 9 months old. Cuddles in the morning, and goes crazy and running around the apartment in the evening... Try leaving small amount of dry food overnight so he can eat that in 5 am and not wake you up, then feed him his regular foods during the day. It works with our cat 🙂

Two months ago we picked up Sasha at 6 Mos old. Following the vet's advice we capped her front claws. She has all the RB traits and physical features. We purchased a cat leash / halter in hopes of leash training her. During the halter only acclimatization we noticed it made her very docile. Take the halter off and she's back in business.

I am already talking to a breeder to get a Russian Blue cat and your videos are very helpful to me. Russian Blue cats from what I have heard are very special. As kittens extremely strenuous and wild and all of a sudden they change their behaviour drastically and become the calm, excellent appartment companions they are said to be. It will be very interesting to see those changes. Thank you for your valuable videos.

I live on a small river and after the river there is the main street, so. My Russian blue has a lot to watch: bugs, ducks, waterchicken, seagles, pigeons, people, trashtruck, fishes in the river, dogs, cars, etc. Whenever I look for her, now that she is almost 2 years old, she is always at the window

I just found a two year old Russian Blue at a local shelter. I haven't met him, but his profile caught my eyes, so I applied. It says he loves to be picked up, cuddle, and play. I just lost my senior maine coon mix, emotional support cat recently and I'm looking for an affectionate, smart cat that I can clicker train and hopefully even harness and leash train

We're on day 3 of our adoption with a 6mo old female RB. She is just the sweetest kitty I've ever met! SUPER affectionate and cuddly. She was feral when they found her and at the humane society for about a month. Hasn't ripped anything apart and hoping it stays that way lol. Looking forward to this journey with her. And really hope she stays cuddly lol.

Your RB sounds a lot like mine! He's 6 months old and getting neutered this week. I'm hoping his energy levels will decrease. He wants to be played with all the time. He follows us around the house, runs into rooms when we open the door, and bites everything. Hoping the biting will also decrease as he gets older. Although I'm going to miss the cuddling!

Hi. I think from your previous video you mentioned you were from IL(we are near Chicago). We lost Evie, our Russian Blue last winter to a stroke, she was 18. Our breeder we originally got her from retired and moved to Florida. Can you tell us what breeder you went with?

as he sits in the sun he will likely start to groom himself as this is a way cats get their Vitamin D-the active form of Vit D is activated by the sun on the skin and grooming allows the cat to get it orally

just came from your neutering video! i noticed you haven’t mentioned it but i think it’s implied, did spike become less active in either playful activities or with toys? that’s my one concern, and i don’t know if at my cats age it will come because of the neutering or because he’s aging! he’s 7 months right now and is getting neutered next week, but my one concern is him becoming less playful like how he always is now! i guess with him passing a year soon he could just grow out of it?

So I have a lot of questions- please bear with me! My Russian blue girl Luna is 18 wks old and a little terror in the apt 😂 I’m seeing a lot of similarities between her and Spike- no interest in watching out the window, super cuddly, but also a sprinting, jumping, and biting machine 😂 I’m hoping Spike’s growth will give me some guidance on expectations! 1. When would you say you started noticing Spike calm down? I assume it didn’t just happen overnight, when did you first notice it? I’m asking for my sanity’s sake LOL. 2. What did you do when he would get his zoomies- did you just let him be or try to calm him down? How long per day did you play with him, and did that help prevent the more frantic zoomies? 3. Did you ever try to get him to not go on counters? I’m trying water spraying and I think she’s scared of the spray bottle now but she will still go on the counter. This also ties into zoomies- it’s very hard to try to reinforce the no counter rule when she’s in zoomie mode… 4. You’re using mealtimes right, what would you do if Spike didn’t finish his dry food at a meal, do you take it away or let him feed from it throughout the day? I tried taking it away but then she just seems to get so hungry in between meals! 5. You have a pretty tall cat tree there, did Spike take to it right away? I also got a tall tree for Luna but she seems uninterested in jumping to the upper tiers. She would rather counter-surf 😂 6. What did you do about plants and breakable things when Spike was a kitten? I think I’m going to try the duct taping method on my cords and blinds that you mentioned in a previous video. But I have some glassware on high shelves that she can’t get to right now but I can just see her figuring out how to jump up there… Ahh I have so many questions - and also just looking for someone to say you can get through this LOL. Thank you!!

Hi there! I totally understand that it can feel a bit nerve-wracking taking care of a new kitty for the first time. Spike started calming down about 2 months after neuter, although he still gets zoomies here and there for sure! I find playing with him twice a day for about 15-20min is the sweet spot for preventing them. He still goes on counters but if we pick him up and put him on the floor enough he will eventually get "bored" and leave. We usually leave any dry food unfinished out, since we give him an allotted amount anyway. Spike took to his cat tower right away since we had it since day 1- I would recommend putting some toys or even old clothes of yours on it so Luna can recognize your and her scent. As for plants, we had to hide all of them in our bedroom (we didn't let spike in this room at first) otherwise he would eat them. If you have a spare room to do this I'd recommend it for the first few months at least. Luna is lucky to have an owner who sounds as caring as you! You got this!

@@katandcatschannelThank you so much for the tips! Luna is spayed already, hopefully she will also calm down soon 😬 I will definitely try playing with her twice a day! I am noticing on days when I didn’t have time to play with her in the morning she does tend to be more hyper at night. I’ve also basically given up on getting her to stay off counters, right now I just want her to know not to come near the food when I’m cooking or eating lol- she still tries to take a bite out of my plate way too much. I feel like this would all be much easier with another person, but alas, it’s just me and the kitty. I’m going to try some of the training tricks you talked about in other videos too!

@@katandcatschannel another question for you! Did Spike stop chewing things as he matured? Right now Luna loves to chew light colored cords, which includes everything from chargers to cables to blinds 😂 do they grow out of it?

My Russian Blue ("Natasha") bonded with me primarily because I don't bother her when she is sleeping or "chilling" on the couch. I never pick her up or hold her unless she indicates to me that's what she wants to do and when I do interact with her I'm always on my knees at her eye level (I don't want to appear like a "giant" to her by standing over her)

My Russian Blue mix Petey is almost a year old, what he loves is lettuce, grass, and ice, and he likes to bring us stuff. He doesn't seem to care much for brushing, he thinks the brush is a toy. I'm trying to get him to play fetch, because he likes to bring stuff to me.
