How our lives have changed since moving from US to the Netherlands!
This is just a small conversation on how our lives have changed since moving from US to the Netherlands! If moving to the Netherlands has shown us anything it's that life is good living in Europe, more specifically, living in the Netherlands! Tammy and I have learned to slow down and enjoy the Dutch life and all it has to offer.

Totally understand where you are coming from. In Canada 🇨🇦 and in the U.S.A. 🇺🇸 we live to work, in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and the rest of Europe you work to live. It's a totally different lifestyle and one to be admired. Happy Sinterklaas.
Spending time (together) is more rewarding than spending money, don't you think so? You both seem very relaxed and happy.
You guys always make my day! You’re so funny and happy and a great couple together 😊 it’s not even so much the content, although interesting to hear what Americans think of us and our country, but the always positive vibes you guys transmit. Keep up the good work and let’s hit the 10K!

Reason why you met such nice people is because you are very warm people and open people. Love your video's the way you speak to us and how you talk to each other with all the little jokes which cracks my up. Ever been in Den Bosch or Nijmegen? You will love it there. Both are cities which feels like a town where a lot of people know each other.

And remember “strangers are friends you haven’t met yet”!
Regarding having a car: if you live outside the metropolis Randstad (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) or not in any other major city you really need a car. I live in a smaller village and I am lucky I can get most of my shopping in that village but anything else I pretty much need a car since public transport takes way too long.

so true, without a car, that's only possible in the bigger cities. NL is so much more than only the west 😀
I am living abroad myself (Switzerland) for many years being Dutch. It makes is double interesting. It's great to see that you had the courage to take such a big step and live in a very different, more Calvinistic, culture. People often underestimate the impact of living in another country. Language, culture, customs, as well as a common history are suddenly missing. But in the end you learn so much, not least about yourself, and it is so interesting to see the world from a different perspective. Glad to see that you feel happy, and I think the Netherlands should be happy that such wonderful and enterprising people decided to live in the Netherlands.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience...
You guys look so relaxed AND at home, great to hear you're enjoying it here.

Hate them? Nah. But do I pity this couple? Boy! If the opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with other people is described as a life chainging event, having the option to walk to the store for groceries, you don't feel the need to purchase the merchandise you envy the neighbour for anymore -- long way to go before you start living, folks. Why not ditch making KZread videos to explain what we already know: that 'expatriates' in the case of couples from the US is just another word for asylum seeker, yet with money and a return airplane ticket instead of a second hand life vest...

Hi guys you have a new subscriber! Here, thank you for sharing your review on moving to the NL!
I liked this video a lot, especially the interplay between you two. To protect you from possibly too high expectations, all the cities have decent or good public transportation but that changes significantly when you go to the more rural areas. I live in Zeeland and wouldn't be able to leave my village without a car. Not that I'm complaining, I was born and raised in this village.
What a lovely video! I'm Dutch and I've subscribed and posted this video to my friend in the US. Keep on posting and enjoy our country!

It's awesome that you haven't felt the need to drive or miss driving! The biking and public transit are truly awesome here. One thing came as a surprise to me after I'd been here for a while: that non-European drivers licences are only valid for the first 185 days that you've been in the country, and after 185 days you need to exchange your license for a Dutch one. Probably you guys know this already, and if you absolutely never plan on driving it's not an issue. I only mention it because it was a shock to me when I found out that my Canadian licence wasn't valid forever. It's always great to hear your perspective on living in NL. I've been here almost 10 years so I take some stuff for granted, and it's really interesting to see a fresh take. 🙂

I'm amazed we allow for a simple change of foreign licences. our training and theory is far more advanced that what most other countries do. It's a pain and very expensive to get a license here. mine cost 5 grand in lessons and gov fees and so on.

The thing with staying outside during rain is a Dutch thing. Other Europeans don't do that so much. When I was the first time in the Netherlands I was really suprised when the rain started and the Dutch people all staid seated at the terrace tables of some café and the streets didn't empty from pedestrians.

Loved that video. I am so happy you two are so happy here in the Netherlands. I have never been in the states so can't really compare. But at the moment I see so much shootings and aggression coming from the states that I am almost to scared to go there. Mind that's the media for you, things might be not that bad when you over there. It also must be a beautiful country to with nice parks and mountains. Never mind every country has it's own beauty. But yes, here we value the person over goods and don't like it if anything is getting "to much"! That includes money, food and anything else. Hence the saying....Doe maar gewoon dan doe je al gek genoeg". Nice to hear you also made friends with dare 2 go Dutch. I hope they will settle in as nicely as you two. I was worried about them as it was difficult for them to find an apartment but now I understand they got one today. Hopefully they can start enjoying life now. Looking forward to your next video.
