I've pruned mine 1 time a year. Mines 5 years old now. Scotts videos help alot.

Excited about this video! My avocado for the international avocado experiment 2 is already about 14 inches tall and now has 9 leaves. 😳 And that baby is in the soil and growing crazy!

Very interesting! I must try all kinds of stuff with this. I have started multiple seeds again. I have 2 very young trees and I pruned them like 4 times last summer to encourage branches, and try to make them not to grow upwards so much. Now one has 3, one insists on having none, just grows up. Anyhow, they did fine, lots of new growth and they seem healthy (up until the "repotting incident")! Will see where they take me this summer!

Thanks for your advise and thoughts. I grew one from seed in the east of England and it grew in the garden outside, frosted in the winter only to return into life in the spring, it was around 12years old when we moved to sunny Pembrokeshire Wales, so I have no idea if it is still alive. I now have a plant that is a year old I have grown from seed, it is about a foot tall and has a side shoot near the bottom of the main stem, roots are fine and dandy, coming out of the bottom of the pot. I want to prune BUT dont know if I should, I would like to keep it in my house, I have under floor heating that is a constant 19C I would appreciate any advice. thank you.

So, my avo seed has a few leave and is roughly 30cm tall. It’s still in water so should I cut it to 15cm ?

I'm wondering if these pruning methods are universal for most tropical trees? I have three avocado, 10 mango, 1 tamarind and 2 ackee trees that were planted in May and are in their young seedling stages.

Thing about the indoor avocado is my trunk (?) seems so thin and frail for the amount of leaves and height. 20 inches tall (50cm) with 18 leaves while the trunk is thinner than a pencil.

My avocado tree is about 18 inches tall and I have never pruned it. Did I miss the pruning/growing stage?

I cut the entire stem with all the leaves off cause it was leggy and I want it shorter and bushier I'm worried it won't grow back now because they're are no leaves but I left 2 nodes

Oof, now I'm worried that I've over pruned my 3 yr old plant. It has 5 long horizontal branches, so I'll probably just leave it alone.

I have dozens of baby avocado trees (2ys) and every time I prune, 30% of them die off completely.
