How Often Should I Feed My Baby Parrot, 6 Weeks Old?

I've noticed that there are different schedules for feeding baby parrots - I go by the schedule in my Psittaculture book, by Tony Silva, because he is world-renowned and practices what he preaches with great success.
At 6 weeks a baby is supposed to be fed 3 times per day- In the video, I illustrate (as best I can) what to monitor in feeding your baby parrot. You want to make sure that they are eating their food; you want to watch their crop so that you know how much food they have/are eating or so that you know when they are 'empty' and need more food.
In the video I illustrate how to feed with a spoon. Spoon feeding is the easiest, so to speak, and it is the one that is least unlikely to be problematic. For example, feeding with a syringe (a special syringe made with a plastic tip for feeding baby parrots) can be dangerous. Most pet shops train their employees for some time before letting them feed baby parrots with a syringe. This is because the syringe can go down the wrong pipe and into their lungs, causing them to aspirate and die.
Beginners may find it challenging enough to feed with a spoon, but it also may give you room to 'learn' how to feed.

Very interesting. When I raised my robin, many years ago, I used a spoon. When they are not on the towel feeding what do you put down? Just curious. Oh, what temperature is your feeding formula and is the formula a mix? Thanks for doing such an informative video.👍👏🥰

When do you start hand feeding them? Do you leave them with the parents at first and then take them away at a certain age? Or do you start hand feeding them right when they hatch?

I get it pre-made, just mix with hot water. I DO NOT now if it works for Eclectus parrots. They have specialized diets- research, they are very different than regular parrots when it comes to diet.

Yes, when we have babies
I am planning to purchase 4 to 5 lovebird chicks of age 20 - 25 days should I spoon feed them or use rubber needle syringe for feed, secondly should I keep all of them in one box or seperate box for each as I want to hand tame them. If I keep all of them in one box will they bond with eachother ?

The best thing to do is spoon feed. Easier for you and less risk. I would keep them together. It helps develop their social side. However, if you want them to be pets, once they are weaned, I would keep them in cages with two birds per cage. Otherwise they may stay too wild and not bond with you.

@@ParrotBliss If have Cockatiel chicks then for those as well I can use spoon to feed or syringe is better for I mean tip of the syringe not using long pipe. Can I use spoon feeding for lovebird and cockatiel bigger chicks as well..

Depends on age, but yes. I feed every 2 to 4 hours from 6 am to 7 pm
