How NYC’s Stop Signs Are Made | The Making Of

Ғылым және технология

The New York City Department of Transportation’s in-house sign shop manufactures more than 100,000 signs a year. We visited the shop in Queens to see how the most vandalized sign - the stop sign - is made.

I've wondered if there's a layout of the city which indicates where all of these signs are supposed to be at in case of a natural disaster and they need to be replaced. A lot of these are in place because of accidents that have occurred at that specific location.

Most cities/counties have a GIS software (some are available to the public) which has all kinds of information including this. Google your local County GIS, you may be able to see for yourself.... You would be suprised of what is tracked, some even have all public trees and the dates they were planted..... (The City/County usually has an internal version which is updated more regularly and contains more sensitive information such as where water lines are, etc.... which the public cannot accsess, you may or may not be able to see signs on your public one depending on County....)
