As a data-scientist with a constant struggle to communicate my findings to the layman in a clear and appealing ways, you are truly a source of inspiration!!! I discovered your channel a couple of months ago and I have been binge-watching for hours at a time. Not only do I love the solid science-backed insights, but the storytelling is a real master-class. Above all, it’s the positive energy emanating from your videos that move me the most. This should have a lot more views… and I’m sure it’ll come, eventually. Please, keep it up!

@@m.esmeraldacaceres3171 Were you kidding? Chris did tons of research and presented so many sources. He showed Wikipedia exactly because he talked about how even a cursory interest a minute of googling would provide the real information. Yet this speaker intentionally talked utter bullshit, and using his BS for undermining a scientist with personal attacks. On unfounded ground. But I guess you feel hurt because you Revere this fraud or have a pony in the race like he does.

"Short term trials are not enough to understand long term disease." That statement belies so many in these nutritional diatribes. Listening to the seemingly fictive laugh track in the background of Dr. Diamond's lecture reeks of superficiality. Another historical masterclass so well done. Thank you, Sir...

I've been haunted by this video from yesterday and just wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear of your profound loss. I remember that sweet pup face from a previous video where he seemed snuggled behind you out of the frame on the porch. Not only is it heart wrenching to lose our animal family at any time, those sounded like especially traumatic circumstances for you all. Wishing you as much peace and grace as possible through the grieving process. And not that that process ever ends but hope the sharp edges dull quickly and that there is comfort in the joy of your time together. For what it's worth, it's readily apparent that this was one very lucky, cherished dog friend. Thank you for all you do, and for bringing such humanity to it every time. I've been binge watch/listening while working and it can be easy to feel distanced and anonymous, but it was impossible not to comment here. Sending healing thoughts.

I have low cholesterol after years of high cholesterol. Eating less meat a week than I did in a day makes a difference. My blood sugars are great although I eat lots of carbohydrates. People act like I must be lying or exaggerating when I say I eat sixteen servings of vegetables a day. For breakfast today, I had a pot of vegetables: carrots, red cabbage, onion and green pepper. I would guess that I ate close to two quarts of cooked vegetables so that would be nearly sixteen servings and it's only the first meal of the day. I'll have at least one more meal today if not two or three.

I couldn't follow low carb anyway since I love my fruits and vegetables. Even without starchy vegetables and grains in the diet, my diet was moderate carbohydrate. Eating mostly plants, I'm no longer pre-diabetic and my total cholesterol dropped a hundred points. I still eat mostly non-starchy vegetables and fruit. Instead of eating meat as a side with my vegetables, I eat grains. It's a lot cheaper on top of being healthier.

Dear Chris, This is a general comment. I am an experimental psychologist with a deep-rooted interest for nutrition and health. Over the years, I’ve explored different approaches to eating using myself as a case study. More recently though, I’ve been trying to better understand the science behind it all. It always amazes me to see how many contradictory recommendations and misinformation are circulating within the public sphere. This frustration led me to contemplate starting my own KZread channel, intending to navigate through the maze of information by relying on scientific evidence rather than the varying perspectives of doctors and authors worldwide. In my pursuit, I stumbled on your remarkable KZread channel, and I must express my appreciation for the incredible work you are doing. Your commitment to disseminating accurate information to the public by verifying original sources really resonates with me. As I watch your videos, I realize that your channel is very much what I had envisioned for my own channel, but in a much more proficient and impactful manner! Thank you… your videos are an invaluable resource and I look forward to watching more of them!

Nice guy jack did great things. But we all have our problem.. To whit you do a check and you will find a DUI arrest years ago. He felt I have heard from his acquaintances if you follow a pretty perfect diet and exercise regime you can occasionally endeavor unhealthy behaviors. I think he was probably right in that. I don't know how often or more then occasional he indulged but to get a dui I would guess more than once(1990's I think).

Yes I have had many friends in the fitness community over the years just by virture of being around it really. So I found that out and had one that was closely involved with Jack in some business dealings, he was a national physique level judge at one time and a oft time competitor before injury my friend, Which were jacks initial roots the bodybuilding physique community at first. He later got far away from it probably as it became so corrupted with drugs Even way back then it had started.. Steroids in the fories fifties sure. So I knew that and asked him my friend and that was his answer. Jack felt a occasional indulgence was OK. It is a pretty closed community really as so much income depends on perception. Most of the stuff is kept secret. Not to drop the guy he was great and a great example. I agree I it is the whole not the parts.

I have watched just about all of Dr Rogers videos and have come to the conclusion he is as Chris says in this video compelling and scientific sounding because he has such knowledge of biochemistry. However Dr Rogers dismisses the Mediterranean diet out of hand without any scientific reason for such a dismissal. So although I like him and his talks I remain sceptical of his claims. But in fairness to him he admits he is extreme because he guesses it will lead to excellence in health.

Great video. Well done. I know a few of the books you mentioned, but others I did not. I would encourage everyone to read Banting's letter on corpulence. As you said, the letter does not say what the high-fatters claim. And indeed, I also don't understand why Ancel Keys is so vilified. I prefer to eat foods, not recipes, so I never tried the recipes in his books, but I found "The benevolent bean" fascinating. He even talks about lupines, which -although very easy to find- almost no-one seems to know despite it being studied by the EU as part of what they call the "protein transition". As for Dr. Atkins, I must have been about 13 years old when I read his original Diet Revolution, in Dutch translation, I didn't know a word of English at the time. I remember his diet was vilified, but for reasons that didn't make sense. The only thing I found fascinating though, was the claim that people are not hungry on his diet. So, I tried it a few decades later. I was hungrier than ever and ballooned faster than ever... never again. And the video you showed of the great nutrition debate in 2000 nicely shows that Atkins was simply fat, not skinny, so his diet obviously didn't work for him either. This, in my view, is one of your best videos. Congratulations.

I have kids so I am not talking my book but....anysort of evil done it is invariably done for the kids, it is always for the kids. One right wing commentator was saying during the throws of pandemic and lock down, my neighbor fat fellow I have him sized up, my daughter go hungry never. Alex Jones yes actually said that. About as evil as can be cannibalizing. But for the kids it is ok.Not for himself never that. Like everyone helping each other media reporting in every single national tragedy...it is all nonsense of course people are not like that in crisis but we have internalized things of thought. We think they act good so we see it. So in this particular it is kids. My guess is that as it is always that.

Watching your channel has had a huge impact on the way that our family is eating now. I know you’ve mentioned tidbits of how you/family eat across some of the videos I’ve seen, but I’d be curious on your perspectives from all of your reading/research on the aspects of the “ideal” human diet. (Maybe you have it and I just haven’t come across it yet). Anyway, thank you so much for the public service you’re doing by sharing your passion/research with the world. @@PlantChompers I'm in my late 50s (although I tell myself that 57 is still the mid 50s). It's eye opening how many of my friends are taking so many medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. I sat with two of them at a meal a couple of years ago (I had plant-based pizza; they both had burgers and fries), and between the three of us, we took a total 20 or 21 pills per day. They accounted for 19 of them, while my B-12 rounded us up to 20 (and in the Winter months up here in the PNW, I will add Vitamin D and bring the total up to 21). Sad part of the story is one of those two friends passed away from a massive heart attack last Summer. He adhered to a low carb diet. He wasn't heavy at all and was actually pretty active (hiking, tennis), but this was his third heart attack in a six or seven year period. He was convinced that his ticket out of heart disease was a low carb / high fat diet. I have a feeling that more and more stories like these are going to unfold over these last few decades of my life.
