    When putting in the roll pin, squeeze the side that's going in first just enough to were if you smack it it'll go I the hole. Then it won't gaze the sides of the hole

    You probably already got it fixed, but for future reference, pinch together the roll pin a bit with needle nose pliers as you drive it in, but also important use a good solid flat surface, something like your front bumper would probably work good.

  • @tyhoe

    @tyhoe

    +flex93312 Almost no auto parts stores offer that. Most have a very basic set of hand tools they will loan you. I always prefer small non-chain auto parts stores because they will help you with stuff like that.

  • @flex93312

    @flex93312

    8 жыл бұрын

    +tyhoe The ones around here do, I guess it's where you live at that dictates which stores will offer tools and vises to use. For example, I had to buy a 6" drop down hitch and a 2 5/16 ball one day, and I asked the employee if they had a vise I could use to mount the ball to the hitch. He said yeah and took me to the back of the store where they had a vise on a table, with other hand tools, i.e., pipe wrenches, etc.and a compressor with air tools. So maybe it's just this area cause it's a small community and there are a lot of farmers around here.

    Ace should have the pins while you're there grab a c clamp. You can get the pin started like you did then put the clamp on and slowly tighten it till the pin is all the way in.

    Those punches are almost disposable, these days, and often break when removing pins. I usually just grind the point flat again. As far as installing the roll pins goes... it's easier (and safer) to use the butt end of the punch or a large Phillips head screwdriver. You're much less likely to spread the pin and make the installation more difficult... if not inpossible.

    Hey Jake. if you ever get back to Wisconsin in your jeep. I have been a Mechanic for 30 years. I have a lot of extra tools and young guy like you could use. I am the guy who lives near Waupaca. We have a bridge like that near Gills Landing near Weyauwega. But it does not turn anymore, it is lifted up by hydraulic pumps now. Anyways Good luck with a jeep. I hate jeeps but oh well. Good karma guy.

    I know this is months later but you're killing me as I watch you try to beat those roll pins in with a hammer on gravel. For future reference, get ROLL PIN PUNCHES. . Also most roll pins are tapered,so beating them into place with a hammer widens the pin face. My .02.

  • @teefa2u

    If I had to guess somewhere between $180-$350, all depends if he only needs the cylinder or the entire assembly plus labor cost around his area. .

  • @TheBrokenLife

    @TheBrokenLife

    8 жыл бұрын

    Naa... You're pretty high on that. It's less than an hour job and you'd have to go to a big time ripoff shop to have to pay more than $100 to have the part put on. The part is going to cost whatever he paid for it. It's 2 bolts and 2 pins each way, and then bleed the clutch. It's really not a hard job. Jake just isn't very well prepared with his tool inventory, "shop", and experience. There's only one way to get the last one, so it's all good.

  • @GaynNovi

    @GaynNovi

    8 жыл бұрын

    That's parts and labor, also depends if he needs just the cylinder, or the entire assembly. I went off $85hr labor and did 1hr for just the cylender to 1.5hrs to the entire assembly

  • @TheBrokenLife

    @TheBrokenLife

    8 жыл бұрын

    GaynNovi To do exactly as he is doing, I think the low side of your estimate is pretty close for parts and labor.

    What your adress, I would like to send you a sippy cup sticker for your service ;) Future reference buy a roll pin starter , and use a solid surface for driving the roll pin in. like when I am working on M16s, spring fly everywhere, unless you use the appropriate tools, or make a tool to work. One other thing, you could have broken you punch off in the roll pin hole and it would have worked temperately till you got a real roll pin.
