It's insane because it's just common sense. Like my mom would figure that out after trying the machine once. As soon as you start to lift heavier than your own weight (or close to) naturally you need a counterforce to block yourself otherwise you are just stuck.

Strength training has always been about physics.
The guy (being reacted to) forgot when you do a pull up, you get pulled up. I guess the laws of physics dont apply to fitness influencers.
He probably plays tennis without a racquet too
This guy is on to something. Tomorrow, I’m going to try barbell curls without the bar. Sure, curling just the bells may be easier, but without the bar, you can focus on strict form and a deep mind muscle connection to elicit a stronger hypertrophic response in the biceps.
Id like to hear how he thinks hip flexors can move your arms and back
@ihateroads7926

I think what he means is that your hip flexors are what press against the pad to stop you from going up which, first of all, isn’t true if you have the pad tight enough and second of all doesn’t help you at all

Physics 101: when you fight against gravity, make sure you do it properly
I love this guys advice! I now do chest supported t-bar rows without the chest support!
When he said lat pull-up he was correct, because thats exactly what you'll be doing without the knee thing
This guy is actual training people!!
People come up with the weirdest ways to do simple workouts.
That pull up clip cracked me up so hard lmao
Sean's facial expressions as he watched the video amused me.
I was so confused with the title and thumbnail lol. Now it makes sense.
I love how he disagreed with the older gentleman respectfully! Something people nowadays have a different time doing. 💪🔥
That guy is the beginner enemy number 1
Thanks i needed this. It's hard to let go i hate being alone..
Bro failed highschool physics and became a professional trainer lmao
How does Sean manage to be so funny without trying, when I saw him lifting up doing a pull-up I was done
I can see benefits to both The 2nd method does isolate and target the lats more efficiently, by giving it a stable trunk to pull from. This is the most optimal position to train the lats But the first method removes that point of stability, which causes you to flex the hip flexors to push your butt into the seat while also engaging your core, especially those of your lower back to a high degree to keep your upper body open and upright. Finally, the lat pulldown from this position primes the body to move as one kinetic chain ⛓️💥 it’s not meant to be the most optimal exercise for the lats, but it can be a good transition to get a feel for the full body tension needed to perform your 1st pull-up- as Sean comedically shown 😂 exaggerated, lol but if he’d made the intention of using his trunk and leg muscles to remain seated while under tension, he’d feel his stabilizers working so that in future endeavors, he can use his body as a reliable base to perform dynamic lat movements
Lat pulldowns are just heavy pullups if you think about it
Sean is right in every video. 🙌
Love your videos brother!
Thanks for the guidance,Sean!
He did say lat pullup so he's got a point
The confidence on that guy
Thank you once again for your no bs information
I remember this channel some what different but tbh i really love these shorts.
The pads only come into play during high resistance.
Hahaha I love Sean for saying the most obvious shit that people ignore when giving "advice" 😂 I was about to say - how do you propose that all 175lbs of me gets the 220lbs of weight to defy physics? Or do you just want me to do pull-ups?
This guy is why us trainers have to deal with so much skepticism and distrust. And this is also why I tell people to make sure the trainer actually looks the part and has real results to show for their clients
I was so confused, how do you pull the weight down if there's nothing to stop you from pulling yourself up
I agree, my lat pull downs would become lat pull ups.
I was going to say the same thing. This dude is obviously training people who don’t lift heavy.
Cool Knocked Loose shirt, they're def one of my favorite bands
Don't bother Sean - some people will always think that gravity is just a construct 🤣
That guy with a cap has no idea whatsoever how mechanical movements work.

Fitness trainers and influencers just out here saying whatever the fuck about exercise or nutrition whether it makes any sense or not. Glad we got guys like Sean calling bullshit.
I don’t use the floor for squats
Thanks Sean
I also used to think that if I had a light grip on pullup/pulldown I'd work better, only to find out the opposite is true! A strong grip gives you better connection with your back.

Dude, lol i agree with almost everything that comes out of your mouth in every video. They're akso great motivation. Cheers.
It’s not about putting the knees under the main issue is learning to pull with the back/lays first then finishing the rep.

Holy shit i didn't know my hip flexors could control movement of my upper torso and shoulders, good to know!
That's Why I Bench press without a Bench
If we weren’t supposed to use it it wouldn’t be there in the first place
I feel sorry for his clients
lol before Sean came in . I was like wait, you need that thing unless your pulling like 10 pounds 😂
These are facts Sean. I have a PRx home gym and when. I do lat pull downs I can’t go has heavy because I don’t have anything to hold me down. I started doing 1 arm pull downs for now. #soreabs
The logic of the chest press can be seen when using cables to perform them.
Room Raiders revamped 🤣
What you are doing is exactly what he said Sean, good work 👍🏻😂
damn pull ups make you look jacked doing them.
His next technique is to do bench press without the bar.
without the pads i’d just be doing pull-ups cause my body weight is less than the weight i’m pulling
Yea no literally today I was using the lat pull down machine at my gym, I was doing the bicep grip (chin up style) and doing 100kg (I’m 80kg) and my legs slipped out from the bar right as I finished the concentric phase of the lift so I ended up slowly rising with the bar at my chest during what should’ve been the eccentric phase of the lift.
"We are gym bros, physics are for chumps!"
Of course!
Lol guy skipped physics class
There... There's a reason the knee pad height is adjustable Because people are different sizes
He said that with so much confidence too. Why wouldn’t you use the supports? How are you so wrong 😂
Dont understand how people think they can reinvent the wheel with these movments.
Bro was onto nothing 😂😂
😂 loved it when you skipped to your video doing pull ups on the lat pull down. Laughed out loud, I knew some funny shit was coming.
The first gym I went, 35 years ago, had no knee pads, so we had to sit on our knees and do pull downs until they converted into pull ups 😂
Lmfao I hate the internet
Yeah I'm pulling 200lbs as 180lb man. I need those
Getting dissed by Sean is one type of embarrassment but completely being ignored after having played one of your "educational vids" is a different type of "i call bs on that"
Hahahah that pull up with the pull fown😂😂
If the pull-up section is taken, I use the lat pull downs on the max weight setting for my pull-ups‼️✨🙏🏾
Facts I lift heavy the bar will pull me up off the seat
