So this essentially means big bank take little bank. Predominantly private schools and well run public schools. Thats a smaller bunch of schools than currently play D1 football. With this model attrition and consolidation is all but gauranteed at the D1 level. Every athletic department and football program isnt rolling in money, making a huge profit or profit at all.

I’m sure I’m pretty lost on this issue, but all I see that changed is schools are allowed to pay up to $20m each year for their roster. I still don’t see how this has to do with NIL collectives at all, or the portal. If anything this could make players/families/agents even more greedy and they’ll sit out. Either make it fully professional or eliminate the NIL collectives.

I say no settlement with the NCAA. I think the College Athletes need to drag this completely through the court and get everything they earned.

Explain this to me. How do you come to an estimated number of what a player COULD'VE made IF they would've been able to get paid 5 YEARS AGO?! AND ... if the NCAA loses this lawsuit and pays restitution, is that money gerting distributed to these past players that "missed out"? And HOW would the amounts be divvyed up?

It's not going to be a lot, I can guarantee that. You know how class action lawsuits have a 10000 people and you might get 100-1000 bucks while the lawyers make 20 mill and more. All this is lawyers trying to get paid.

I have said signing these guys to contracts would end all of this massive moving around. Sign these kids to 2 and 3 year contracts just like any pro or minor league. After that, the kid is a free agent.

That's a MUCH BIGGER wormhole than you might imagine

I like 2 years in total but after year 1 there is an option window for each side to explore whether to continue the relationship. During year 1 either side can trigger clauses that either renew or cancel the 2nd year based on agreed upon aspects. And Year 1 is guaranteed. Could go on but think that covers the time frame of the deals. I see the major problem is fluidity. It's way to easy to coke and go as you please, it's beyond players rights at this point and producing negative outcomes for all including the fans.

@@wlthomas8 not at all. Explain the wormhole at the pro level? This has absolutely nothing to do with NIL and bills are already being signed so universities can pay players. You lock a kid in like you lock a pro in. They can choose not to play, but that not only hurts their reputation, it hurts their chances to develop.

@@3naturalBionutrition one year makes absolutely no sense because that's what it already is. There should be no clause in there, you're basically talking about a scholarship which is a year to year deal. A 2 year deal at least allows you to lock in your diamond in the rough 2 or 3 star freshman that becomes a freshman phenom, from being poached by bigger bank schools. However, I feel like they should all start out signing 3 year contracts coming from high school and making that a locked in rule.

@ghostwalker89 then the coaches need to do the same and make the same level of commitment. And whatever it is that you do as a profession are you locked into a exclusive 3 year deal that only allows you to work for / do business with? Of course not. It's not fair. You can leave anytime. You just may not be able to come back and there may not be money and space available for you at other locations......because they have their guys locked in for 2 years.
