Well, this kid is different, he is really professionnal. He comes from a family of high-level athletes and they did everything to prepare him. He played the entire season without significant injurie, everything is analyzed, including the best way to jump and to land to avoid injuries. He could have played for a team which was involved in the euroleague but it was not a necessity, he already has this level to compete in euroleague, they know that. Wemby and his family chose to go with Metro 92 because the head coach is Vincent Collet, one of the best coach in France and also the coach of the French national team, someone who is respected by other coaches like Greg Popovich, someone who truly understand what it takes to prepare a player to go in the NBA because he was the coach of every french players who are labeled NBA players, past and present (Parker, Diaw, Gobet, etc...). I can't tell the future, i can't tell if he will reach all the expectations about him, but the kid is ready.

I am sooo pumped to see this kid play! My team, Timberwolves, are completely hopeless so I'm going to adopt the Spurs as the one I'd be rooting for when my team loses. Victor seems genuinely humble and just a great all around guy. He knew he was going to be the #1 pick and still shed tears when he was announced. I hope he does great in the league, stays humble, stays OUT of politics (very very important), and just plays great basketball.

It is interesting that he is coming into the NBA when Nikola Jokic is reviving the role and demonstrating the potential of the big man. If this kid, at age 19 can come in, with his size and athleticism and learn to be valuable like Jokic, he could be great indeed. He certainly seems smarter and more mature than Zion, not to mention Ja Morant.

@@dustymatthew Sure but your statement fits with what many people say here and there "a 7+ guy will be broken most of the time and will stop his career after 2 or 3 years". When Sonny says "injury free", he talks about major injuries : no matter if you prefer answer on a binary mood, kinda "you are injured or you are not". If so, every player in any sport is injury prone just because he had 2 or 3 injuries. When you are 16 or 17 and already a pro BB player, you take your time to recover after a minor injury because you're not the most important man in the roster. What happened in 2020 or 2021 doesn't mean anything about being injury prone, it just talks about a teenager playing Vs grown men while his body isn't already done.
