My husband's grandfather was a Protestant minister. After my husband became Catholic, his parents told him they felt like he had betrayed his grandfather. (To give them credit, they did not shun or disown their son.) I told him, Honey, everybody in heaven is Catholic. If your grampa is there, he is sooooo proud of you and cheering you on!

Same here ! I was told my grandfather was turning over in his grave. Truthfully, I believe it was his prayers that sent me the grace to convert. We were very close and I believe he wanted me to know the truth.
“Anything but Catholic” so true. One of the only things Protestants can actually agree on.

No, it's not @@CameronRiecker it's a shame to hear you joining yourself with the catholic church, as it demonstrates one step away from the church of Christ. Why? Because of the unbiblical catholic doctrines. But perhaps you will realise that salvation truly is the grace of God and not earned, even within the walls of corruption.

@@CameronRiecker 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be [a]accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Wh That is Galatians 1:8-9. According to Paul, if the Gospel is preached different than what he preached let them be cursed. Mary was not present in any Gospel preached by Paul, nor were saints, nor was Purgatory. These beliefs came later and even with the belief of apostle succession, look at the first four words. Catholicism has complicated the simple message of the Gospel.

I completely understand. My conversion has completely turned my household on it's end.
Welcome home. “There is one God and one Christ, and one Church, and one chair founded on Peter by the word of the Lord. It is not possible to set up another altar or for there to be another priesthood besides that one altar and that one priesthood. Whoever has gathered elsewhere is scattering”- St. Cyprian, bishop of Carthage (Letters 43[40]:5 [A.D. 253]
I went to his channel and invited him to your men's rosary.
Look, stay Catholic you have nothing to apologize about, if your family is against it well that's their problem, sooner or later they are going to have to get over it. God bless!😎
All the glory to the God!!!
My family was completely Protestant until the early 1960s when my uncle converted to the Orthodox Church. He told me once that his father, my grandfather, told him, "at least you didn't become Catholic"!
One of the priests in our Archdiocese converted from being a Baptist. When he told his mother that he was exploring other faiths, she told him, you can be anything, but please don't be Catholic!

Congrats to the brave young man (old convert here). I have some protestant friends who at least still talk to me 🙂 BUT, if I mention some miracle - complete with doctors stating it is impossible, slides, x-rays, or Eucharistic Miracles complete with DNA lab tests - wow, their mental shutters come down faster than the garage door. Protesting against the churches understanding of the Bible.
What’s wrong with them prods?
“Anything but Catholic” sounds very bigoted. Bigotry is bigotry. Period. Sorry man.
To be truly Catholic is the goal of the Christian life, reflecting the life and virtues of Christ, the Apostles, and the lives of the saints who have kept the light and tradition alive. But the actions of the Catholic church in its official actions, mostly through the 1000 years of the Papal states have left a stain on our history and that is in the back of the minds of Protestants. It was the officials of the Catholic church that instigated the Protestant reformation. Pope John Paul II began acknowledging that in his 2000 Jubillee, but even Catholics aren't aware of this attempt at repentance. Humility goes a long way toward friendship and overcoming reasonable fears ingrained in our cultural memory.

Satan has been attacking the One True Church from the beginning, rising up great political and revolutionary forces, those who hate Christ and Christendom. It is easy to take a broad stroke of revisionist history to focus on every misstep that individuals in the church may have made without looking at the whole picture. The Papal States served a very important life sustaining purpose in the beginning as the Roman Empire was collapsing. Did individuals in the church make poor decisions along the way? Perhaps. But they are not “the Catholic Church” which has brought the light of Christ to the world. To imply that the rebellion of Martin Luther did anything to “reform” the church is laughable. He himself was a very corrupt person that has been exulted by the Marxist Freemasonic forces currently running the church. Shame on you for being one of them, with your spirit of rebellion, focusing on a few bad individuals instead of the great works the church has accomplished.
There is a lot of religious bigotry out there. My parents refused to stop laughing when I returned to believing in Santa when I turned thirty. Stay strong!
First of all, and I am saying this as a Protestant who for some reason keeps getting Catholic channels, (I know I should stop commenting) your family should never be the reason for your faith when you are an adult. Yes, they do and should influence your early development, but your spiritual growth is yours Individually as Paul says when he states “work out your own salvation.” If this is where the truth leads you, then you must go there. I can’t go towards the Catholic Church because the Spirit is holding me back because of problems I have with certain practices and beliefs that are not Biblical. By the way, the Rapture is a real thing. 2nd Thessalonians Chapter 4 discusses it clearly. Chuck Missler’s series Harpazo expounds on it. The question is pre-Trib or post-Trib. If you do a video on it I will probably be responding to it. :) (Just don’t go down the road that Darby started it, because that’s false. The idea was first found in the Epistles of Barnabas in the early 100s if I remember correctly.)

The Catholic Church does not believe in the doctrine of Sola Scriptura. The Church has Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture. Sacred Tradition was what the Apostles heard and learned from Jesus while he was alive. They taught what he taught and eventually, they consigned it to writing (the Sacred Scriptures). The Bible came from the Tradition. Do you believe in the Doctrine of the Trinity? It's also not explicitly stated in the Scriptures. Some books are in the Catholic Canon that were removed from the Protestant Canon (the Deuterocanonical books or Apocrypha), therefore, you would never believe in teachings that are based on those books, but that you've never seen. Martin Luther first moved the books and eventually, they were REMOVED. You may want to take to prayer, why it is that Catholic channels keep "popping up" in your stream.

If a spirit holds you back from exploring Catholic Church, I would recommend you Immediately see an exorcist. (Not kidding). The Christian church has always been catholic, right from the first century. Church came first, Bible came later. Only question you should have is there anything contradicting bible. I can show you dozens of Protestant beliefs that are directly contradicting bible.
As a Protestant im more protesting the INFALLIBLE authority of the Catholic institution. Which has led to a ton of unnecessary accretions (imo). But I believe there are plenty of Catholics who are saved. I think it’s completely false when Protestants think all Catholics are without redemption. God bless you and I hope his spirit guides you.

@tokenblkguy00 Hey Token, first thanks for being open minded! As a Catholic I feel I'm still open-minded as well. If anyone has anything to share with me that I don't know, I'd welcome the conversation. When I discuss anything Christian-related, I always keep the timeline in mind, since viewing things in order helps me determine authenticity. When 'things' are 'added' I'd like to know 1) what was in play before those 'additions', 2) did they contradict any previous teaching/Scripture, 3) who was doing the 'adding' - authority wise, and 4) was it a new "addition" or a new "discovery" - there's a world of difference! I also have 4 criteria I use to discern the reliability of any historical document. So I'm like one of those engineer (not a very good one) types. God love you. ✝
