    I keep telling wife that. Maybe I make it look too easy. She has lately tried to cook a few dishes, and it took much longer with more dirty dishes. I get a little more respect now.😅

    @@hermanchow1405 I think that's why it would make a great video series! So many different ones for this channel to cover that it can be stretched out over a year or more. During summer, focus on summer time desserts. During winter, focus on winter time desserts. ☺

    I find that by marinating the carrots with salt, water will be drawn out from the carrots. And when you stir-fry, the carrots, they cook much faster. The carrots are then crunchy and sweet. No need blanching here. The left-over water from the carrots can be mixed in with the gravy. Just sharing my humble opinion, ya. Enjoy very much watching your dad cook, plus, he speaks Cantonese! Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Loved this video! After stir-frying veg for many years, I had no idea about blanching the veg first - can't wait to try this. Also, I will enjoy eating snow peas (we call them mange-tout in the UK) a lot more now I know how to peel the string from them. Thanks so much for such an enjoyable and informative video! :)

    I start from the stem end when I do my snow peas, doing both strings at once. Of course if you have Homegrown snow peas, you can pick them smaller! Especially when you have a bumper crop! Don't let them grow to full-size Peas, they are not designed to have tasty Peas, but to have a tasty pod.

    I always remove the strings from celery as well. It’s not strictly necessary unless you have a GI disease like me, but I think they are super annoying to eat, just like the snow peas strings are. This is a dish that everyone should learn how to make because it’s healthy and can also serve as a side dish to non Chinese meals. I don’t blanch my vegetables for as long as this, but everyone’s preferences are different. I also don’t use all those different bowls just to prep the vegetables, but I understand that it has to look good for the video. I’m pretty sure Dad Lau is more conservative with his bowls and containers when he’s not on camera.

    May I ask… that burner he used under the wok is portable. Is it, and if so, what kind is it?

  • @catchnkill

    @catchnkill

    2 ай бұрын

    Yes, it must be portable as you can see it in the video. This is a butane gas stove which is pretty common in Asia for hot pot. There are a lot of choice in Amazon at the price range of US$ 60 without tax. If you need lesser, there are also $25 camp stove in Amazon, also butane fuel.
