When you are spending 1,500 on booth rent a and over 1,000 in supply’s a month, you look at your business as a business!! I have to charge for all the color and art options I keep in stock for them to choose from! Everything is À la cart! Including the length, shape and if they are getting a dimension! My prices are up there and I am booked solid! My work is constant and wears and last for a long time! Believe in yourself! It truly doesn’t matter if you live by farmland or in the city! I can sooo... relate! 😒🙄 I get asked the same questions and even asked if they can make an appointment with me.. (I'm not a professional tech to do so) so... yeah, I know too well about buying all kinds of nail goodies mind you I'm not complaining cause I love nail art. 😍

The problem I have here in my area (SouthWest Ohio) is ppl like those kinds of nails/designs but refuse to pay for it. I do my own nails only, but, when asked how much I'd charge them, I say around $80-$110 depending, they literally laugh in my face and roll their eyes....If I had a nickle for every time some chic said to me, "Oh, that's way to high. I'd never pay that".......They want top quality for dirty cheap and they are proud to pay for their 'Walmart' nails :( Very discouraging.

@@shellbug3100 Yes, the girls around my city really do like blinged out nails - loaded with Swarovski's n all.( That's how I do my nails). But, they always say I'm over charging and I'd never have any clients with those prices on bling nails. I'm like, are you kidding me? Clearly they have no idea just how expensive Swarovski's, foils, gel Polish colors, glitters, studs and charms,etc cost. They LITERALLY try to bargain prices down and cannot comprehend how NOT cheap nail accessories are. Like, how would they feel if their boss came up to them and said, "Hey Judy, how about you work for 1/2 your wages today?" ......

I love how Tracey says do not over think! I can get so stressed trying to get it perfectly perfect. When I'm probably the only one who sees the little imperfections. Awsome!!!

Thank you for supporting what we do and what we are worth 👏🏻💙 it’s so hard to get people to understand and also for techs to stop apologizing for charging what they’re worth! It helps to understand that why would you do all these extra things that take your time (when you could do 3 fills in that amount of time) and money to purchase art supplies if your client is ultimately okay with just one color when they find out its extra. Save yourself from the frustration!

Oh my freaking awesomeness ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ I understand “sticker shock” when it comes to nails. But, seriously, it’s very possible to tactfully (or not 😉) respond to the eyerolls and huffy comments with a version of -and that’s the difference between mine and yours. Of course, you can always offer them more basic, less costly options too. If they don’t like it, they’re not the right client for you. It’s a bit like someone walking into a Ferrari dealership and insisting on Kia prices. Know your market and know your worth.

The nails look beautiful. 2 questions, after the glitz has been applied, does it make sense to do a quick base before the build pink layer? How do you fill these when the client comes back in and wants a completely different look?

If the client is wanting a completely different look we call that a re-balance and you will have to remove the design and reapply something new.

I can see how it’s that much. A lot of product, time and skill are involved. They are beautiful tho.

I don’t have a problem paying the 175 for the initial set. The problem is that many of the local nail tech (freelancers) don’t do fills. So every time I go in I have to get a new set. That’s the big speed bump for me. I wish they would do fills

I feel so guilty for the "below threshold" amount that i charge, just because 1; i live in a small farmtown and i know that not everyone can afford higher prices. 2; i'm still fairly new in the nail industry... But i know my YN education and products are worth so much more. I needed this video to set my mind back on track, and remember that even though this is my passion, it is also my future. I literally finished my SSGel course on Friday (still have to do exams, though)... But i'm so excited for the "new" and fun opportunities that gel will give me.

Congrats!! Melissa used to live in a agriculture town before moving to so-cal and she charged the same living there as she does here. Keep practicing and rocking amazing nails and before you know it you will have a full clientele

Can you do a full set of extensions from start to finish within an hour?😰 can you please do a video of a full set of hard gel extensions with a plain gel polish over top with some one with short nails from start to finish in real time? ok so this is my pricing (which is close to yours) You didnt specify if it was a full set of encapsulated bling/glitter nails so I got two prices for you Full set encapsulated bling/glitter nails (all ten nails) - 177uds Set of 5 bling/glitternails + 5 nails with gelpolish - 207usd I also advise that not all of these type nails can be filled in. This one I would be able to but if I have made a special design it wont always look good with an infill. Im not a magician ;) I use same technique as Tracy shows here and I often do the full on encapsulated bling/glitter nails on myself. I started doing the pink builder to give it that extra umpfh

Of course they can be done shorter. Mylar is just a thick chunky nailart product very pretty.

Tracey, would you be willing to do a similar nail on a real hand? Then do another video at fill time to give us an idea of how you could 'change it up' to extend the life of the artwork. That would give techs a way to help clients justify spending more. They will be able to see that the first artwork set will last longer than the typical 2 weeks. I love encapsulating, but really only do it on myself and my daughter because most of my clients (small rural town) prefer one color gel polish on sport length nails.

I've always been told to use a primer then a bonder that you cure so is base essentially a bonder?? Can someone please tell me the difference between a bonder that is cured such as ibd bond and base gel. I use a thin coat of my sculpting gel as the base coat to protect the natural nail but it seems like the base gel here is for adhesion?

Can't exactly speak on other brands, our steps would go as follows: prep natural nail, use swipe to dehydrate the nail, protein bond to ensure adhesion (it is essentially a double sided sticky tape to help everything stick better) then base coat from the synergy gel line, cure, then on to your builder gels.

Holy 🤬!! One of my clients wants bling nails for an upcoming trip to Vegas so these will be perfect!! I’ll use darker glitters though and I have a pot of gel that has shredded bits of Mylar in it already! It’s from a different line though (ducks for cover as to not get hit from Habib or Greg throwing a heavy random object towards Canada). I’ll probably only do 1-2 feature nails on each hand unless she’s wanting to go all out! Thanks y’all, great job as always. How do I post a pic in the comments? I did a set of stilettos with a dimensional look about 10 years ago for Contessas, I’d love to show you how it turned out!

Love how you are doing this series. I saw a girl go get her nails done in NYC and she paid $200 and was there for four hours! The nails weren’t as cute as what I do on my nails! I felt she got ripped off. It was a smile line made up with orange acrylic and two glitter nails per hand. The glitter nails were like black with a silver glitter here and there. I just couldn’t believe it. I could see how the ones you guys are showing could be that much, but not the set that poor girl got.

Trish Vickery you can’t really judge other nail techs on how much they charge. You can control how much you charge😊! That goes to show, you can make what you are worth! That other nail tech in NYC probably thought he or she was worth 200! Lol. When you use 1/2 power, does it require a longer cure time? I use a no-cleanse top coat on my nails, and the heat spike is ridiculous!! Great video :)

When using the lamp on 1/2 power you will need to increase the cure time.

This is beyond gorgeous! I am "assuming" that this quoted price was for all ten nails, not just a single accent one? But.... That price would feed all three of my 60-90# dogs, adding treats, flea meds, and nail grooming for them for a month. Then leaving a little left over for vet bills... 😀. Unfortunately I live in a very small town and no one will pay that much sadly. Walmart here charges $40 just for a full set of hard gel. Not sure if that is just starting at a plain overlay. No way would people here pay for $5 each glitter either. I'm thinking to get them started I might offer a set bling glitter price for 2 fingers only as a trial. Just to get them started on it. Cuz once you get them, you 💕 them!!

We charge additional costs based on design and additional product used on top of the full set cost.
