How Much - Sharp Acrylic Stilettos - Acrylic Nails

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Your client walks in the door and shows you some pretty long sharp stiletto nails, and she wants them. Although she is not wearing long nails, she does not care, and wants you to take off her current set and create these one of kind nails she found on the gram. What she doesn't realize is that it is going to cost her a pretty penny. But exactly how much do you charge for this set of nails? Tracey takes you through the steps of how to create them, and of course how much to charge.

“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

To clarify... we did include airbrushing the price ($10) but forgot to mention it at the end... oops! Sorry about that 😁😁 With the airbrushing the final price is $135. TY for letting us know! ❤️

Not to be picky, but it looks very much like the airbrushing dissapeard on the index finger in contact with the monomer. If this was a real client, would you fix it or not mention it like in the video?🤔 For that reason I dont think it's worth full 135$ anymore. But for sure, really beautiful set😍

OK then. Disregard my comment on the math/price. If you ombre'd with the acrylic, would you still charge $90 for the set? Or would you charge more because you're using 2 acrylic colours?

As soon as nail professionals start pricing based on their investment and not the pricing of salons around them, is when nail tech professionals will see their worth and start making money. New Year Tech's... Make the change;)

I just LOVE these "How much" videos. People need to know how you/nailtechs set the prices. How you break it down. What products your are using, and what that actually cost you to use as a total. And well done👏👏. Amazing work as always from Tracy! 😍😍😍 Tfs xoxo

Yeaah, except their pricing is completely off and they are making their viewers delusional about pricing. The supplies to do the actual art, cost next to nothing. It's the supplies to build the nail that are the investment. I don't know if this is to sell people overpriced glitter, saying you can charge over a hundred easy to recoup, but this is crazy.

First time commenting, I just wanted to say Thank You SO much Tracy. I've been trying to understand Pinching for awhile now, I knew WHY you did it, and HOW, but never WHEN. I know that now and I found out for free. Thank you YN team, you've inspired me to go back to school to be a Nail Tech and Esthetician.

Thank you for this comment. It's the most reasonable comment I have seen from these videos. Nail art is one of the cheapest and most fulfilling hobbies there is, and yes you can pay a lot for some things, like Indie nail polish, but for the most part, everything you see in these videos you can duplicate for practically nothing, no skill required. Homemade decals, fluid nail art, watermarbling, alcohol inks, pond manis, pigment burnishing...even stamping is reasonably priced.

same here....was thinking about restarting to do my own nails, since I haven t really done too much of my own nails since I grduated from college....and back then I was quite obsessed with nails, not so much hair and make up,but nails for sure...and you make a valid point, we can pretend we ve just saved ourselves that amount of money by not going to the salon and doing it ourselves....lol...

Tracy's hands are so pretty anyway but yes the stiletto refines them more, that ombre spray is so nice and the glitter just makes it so fancy and elegant. Leave it to a man to ask why she won't wear 5-inch stiletto nails everyday lol BECAUSE THEY ARE EXTREMELY IMPRACTICAL HABIB! Absolutely stunning though. You didn't charge for that expensive airbrush gun. In nyc, I would charge 150 minimum for this, including the spray part.

Woooooow... Beautiful set.....Sorry I live in the uk ,I no longer have clients had to stop work.. I've been qualified for over 20yrs,the techs here would never ask for that amount of money coz they just would not get anyone coming to them as we have so many salons (nns) nails for £20, ... If I was asked for set like these I'd charge £30/40.. It all depends on time it takes price you pay for your products, people are looking for quick nails,I've hear lots of girls saying nails are to bulky... Then seeing lots Damage when they brake due to no structure/apex... I loved you went into this,We need to educate the people going to get nails to make sure they understand a good quality salon... I really hope you had money to blow for fun. Airbrush machines are great, but they aren't good for nail art, they are complicated, the makeup for them is expensive and expires quickly, they are hard to clean, and they are very expensive. They are good for full body painting, but those are even more expensive. The small ones are really only good for base makeup like foundation, blush, contour. If you don't mind me asking, what did you buy it for?

WHYYYY? The easiest way to do ombre is with a dollar store makeup sponge. 3 or so different color nail polish. Dampen sponge with water, paint stripe of one color across, under it the next color, right under the next. Dab on nail. Repeat. PERFECT ombre. If you got the polish at the dollar store too, it would cost you 4$ for the same nail art. Air brush machines are hundreds of dollars, colors are expensive, and they are a huge pain in the ass to clean.

Ombre- damp makeup sponge and 3 stripes of different color polish across sponge, dab on nail. Repeat. That's it. Encapsulating- you can do it right now on natural nails, cause it's just layers. You can use sharpies to draw a shape to put your glitter in. Clear polish, sharpie, clear polish, glitter, repeat. Or glitter nail polish works. Glad to see the artist found some shortcuts! But I'm wondering how a layer of glitter, aka the nail art, cost more or took more time to do, than just another layer?

Hey both! Great video as always, I do love these videos. I don't live in the States, but even so, these videos help me at least get an idea of accurate pricing because I take that into account. I have been qualified and doing gel sculpts for a year now, and a set like this would (and has) taken me 2hr 45 - 3 hours if it's a new set >.< Thankfully the customer was very happy, but how much cheaper do you recommend someone should charge if they are still a slowpoke for an equivalent set (length, shape, design)? I feel 50% lower is a bit low, but maybe 20-30%? So if a slower tech was to do these in 2hr 45, could they get away with charging around 90-95? :) I hope I wasn't too confusing, or the questions weren't stupid. Sometimes even stupid questions have to be asked.

MateriaGirl no questions are stupid here 🤗 honestly it’s hard to price for someone else because it’s such a personal service. Personally I think if it’s taking you longer it should be more, your goal is to hit your target $ per hour so you know what you are actually taking home. I would suggest letting your client know how long you’d expect this to take as well as how much ahead of time then let them make that call if they would like to make some adjustments to the set to shorten time & lower cost.

  • @bedriddenbeauty6504

    @bedriddenbeauty6504

A fill would cost the same as any gel or acrylic fill. A full set could be 175$, if all the nails had nail art on them. Like stamping. Or burnishing multichrome pigment. Rhinestones. Hand painted things...a layer of glitter is incredibly easy to do, is cheaper than a layer of gel/polygel/acrylic, and takes the same amount of time. You might be charged an extra 5$, maybe another 5$ for ombre. But I highly recommend you get makeup sponges from the dollar store, 3 of your favorite color polishes, and some polish remover. Just dampen the sponge with water, at the top draw a stripe of polish across, right under touching a stripe of the next color, then the next. Dab on nail. Repeat. Use polish remover to clean up around the nail. That will cost you 5$ too, but you can do it yourself another 40 times with the supplies.

See now that is actual nail art with a supply that would cost more than a dollar in investment. Something like that could bring a 175$ cost, not a layer of glitter. Any nail artist who buys an airbrush machine to do ombre, instead of using a disposable makeup sponge, and thinks it's ok to pass that cost to their clients, should have their license reviewed seriously.

As a nail tech... I do understand time money skill set and products all factor in price... But at the same time we ourselves are consumers as well and we know how expensive alot of things can be, and a set of nails, just nails that can break, get damaged, grow out and look fugly overtime costing as much as some ppl make in a week, that's grocery money there thou.... For me... Yes I want to be paid and still do what I love doing so I keep my prices reasonable cause not everyone can afford those prices in nails whether bi-weekly or monthly or whatever, it's hard enough paying bills at the end of the month, and ain't about treating yourself, nothing wrong with that but not when it's going to empty your pockets.....
