How Much Money Can You ACTUALLY Make From Poker? (BRUTAL TRUTH!!)

Ойындар

How much money can you actually make from poker these days? In this video I discuss how much money part time poker players and professional poker players make.
I also discuss some of the easiest ways to improve your poker game and start creating more consistent profits for yourself.
How much money can you make from poker is something that I get asked all the time.
The truth is that most people actually lose at poker in the long run.
However, a small amount of dedicated and talented players are always going to be winning big.
There is no reason why you, as somebody who takes the game seriously, can't be among those.
For a part time small stakes poker player, you can make between $200 to $1000 per month with a little bit of effort and game selection.
A part time high stakes poker player will make a lot more, upwards of $100,000 per year.
This is why there aren't many high stakes part time poker pros.
Because they would very likely be making much more money at the poker tables, than their regular job.
Therefore, they would probably choose to just quit their job and become a full time pro instead.
For professional poker players you can make a lot more money from poker.
And this is because you now have all the time in the world to grind it out at the poker tables.
Dedicated and talented professional poker players can easily make several thousand dollars per month even in low stakes games.
I have lived in SE Asia for many years now where the cost of living is substantially less than in most western countries.
There are tons of online poker pros in particular such as myself, who took advantage of this to play poker for a living at small stakes.
You can also improve your income from poker on the side by offering coaching services, writing blogs, books, or making videos like this.
This is another way that I have been able to supplement the amount of money I make from poker.
Many professional poker players even make $100,000 or more per year in small or mid stakes games though.
This is especially true if you play online poker where you have the ability to multi table.
Or if you play live poker at decent stakes of like $25/$50 blind cash games.
Now once again, it must be noted that most people actually do lose at poker in the long run.
So the numbers listed in this video should not be taken as typical.
They are in fact very atypical.
But the great thing about poker is that as long as the rake is not too high, there will always be a small amount of big winners.
If you are dedicated to working hard on your poker game, both at the tables and away from them, then there is no reason why this can't be you as well.

Good Video. As all the others as well. Just one question: You said, you travel since 10 years throughout South east asia, while playing poker... Could you do a Video about, what Countries are suitable for Poker Players and which don't? And may also include stuff like - Cash In / Cash out differences / Average Poker Knowledge in a specific country / Wifi + Intetnet coverage etc. ?

I often see people say to play tight-aggressive at the micros. Actually, I think the best exploitative strategy against your average 50 VPIP and 5 PFR fish is not tight-aggressive. When the fish limps, he's got total trash, so you can iso raise him with 72o and take it down with a 1/3 pot cbet. But when the fish open raises, he's got TT+/AQ+, so you only want to 3bet monster hands, and flat call a lot of implied odds hands in position so you crack his premiums and stack him. None of this is tight-aggressive, more like loose-aggressive when they limp and tight-passive when they raise.

Hi Nathan, I noticed most comments here are two years old. Ive been playing off and on for about 15 years all cash games at the local casinos and have been a losing player but just this year Ive been winning consistently with bad days of course included. I never played online before because everyone tells me that they are illegal here in the US. Also Ive always been skeptical about how the people behind the computer, especially the developers, can see your hands and manipulate the outcome of the cards Do you have any sites you know of is safe and I can play here from the US? Thanks. By the way how are you doing today in 2023?

How much I make from poker, well I just started again because in my state online poker was illegal up until last year so, so far I played my way, way up and down and back up so I deposited 50 dollars and worked my way to currently 185 and every time I clear 200 I play a 10 dollar sit and go instead of a 5 dollar sit and go so I'm struggling to cross that bankroll barrier but if I do my goal will be 500 dollars won until I think of what games I want to play next.

Another factor i've realized in small stakes is players call with garbage hands and high cards and hitting. They do it mostly because of the minimal amount at risk and the SPR or just to be able to crack their opponent. It drives me crazy because they hit more often than not 😡

I play 500 MTT's (fieldsize up to 1k players) per Month with an average ROI of 39%. Buy-In varies between 5 and 22$ per tournament. I make an average of roughly 1500$/ month... BUT: Imagine the stress level of playing two or threee month in a row without making a single $. Which is still absolute normal variance... - Can you handle that? If not: Don't even think about beeing a professionell. And for BRM: I follow a 200-400x Average Buy In Strategy. So you need at least a 4000$ Bankroll and a ROI above 30% over a sample of at least 10.000 MTT's to make a somewhat consistant win of 1,5k per month... If u have played less than 10.000 Mtt's: Again DON'T even think about becoming a professionell...

That is tournaments though not cash. That is a huge sample though I think someone could chance it before they get up to numbers like that. Maybe like a few thousand. There is no way you could get to those numbers live in any reasonable time and there are many live tourney players even before the internet where such volume would be unheard of.

@@8YvY You could do it at 25nl but only like if you played 8 tables for like 7 hours a day almost every day. It really depend on where you live, if you're like in Canada or the UK it would be barely livable most likely unless you have a very high win rate and nothing special in terms of what other people make in regular jobs but in a country with a low cost of living then sure it would be quite viable. I think there are actually a small number of people that play 25nl professionally living in developing countries. I did the math and you would make roughly 17 000USD if you played 8 tables for 7 hours 5 days a week and won at 5bb/100. If you were quite good I suppose you could make like 34k if you were winning at 10bb/100 so it would be livable in a country like the UK at that point but obviously not high compared to the averages. If you lived in somewhere like Kenya however you would be balling, so it really depends on how much you need and how much you're willing to play.
