CORRECTION!!! Pigs will breed when you add a food type to Base food. It's the one combination I didn't test, looking back it was obvious to do but for some reason, I went backwards with the feeds😅 Base+Grain mix = Breeding - £1200 price at 24 months (BEST VALUE) Base+Grain+Protein = Breeding - £1200 price at 24 months Full mix = Breeding - £1200 price at 24 months Luckily, a lot of the numbers around food consumption are still correct and the full mix is the best performing (speed to get to 100% health) but it makes things a little easier when having pigs for breeding. Saying that I still think they consume the most when fed base food so you probably will still make more money selling a field of Maize instead of using it solely for pig food and then profit from breeding. It does change how profitable you can make things now though. Thanks to Peter Overgaard comment below for making me aware 👍Sorry everyone for any misinformation

The way Giants needs to fix pigs is to make it more realistic. The pigs should be producing litters of 4-8 piglets. If they did that then pigs wouldnt be useless like they were in base game FS19

actually u are wrong pigs need 80% health to reproduce pigs start to get health when u feed at least 75% efficiency food either base+grain OR base+protein+root with a pace of 24% health per month. Another point is that u dont need to feed them everymonth to get max price u just need to sell them with full health at 24 months

I think pigs have really been transformed in fs22 with the production chains, I grow sugar beets for my biogas plant + sugar factory, wheat ( plus straw for manure ) /sorghum for bread and eggs and sunflower/ canola for oil and just chuck in a bit for the pigs when they need it, plus I chuck the slurry and manure in my biogas plant too and spray with digestate 😌

So this not correct. Sadly @scroft should have tried with base+whatever. Pigs need the base food and in a combo with grain they go 100% health but slower(10% gained per day on full and 3% on base+grain) hope for an update as pigs are very good on hard economy. Also young pigs should be sold off prior to 24 months as its the feed consumed vs value gain is best for the first 6 months

Hey Peter, Thanks for this. I just tested and you are correct. Luckily a lot of the numbers still are true in the video about food consumption but they can breed when you add the minimum of grain to Base food. So B+G will breed, B+G+P breed and full mix breed. Thanks again for this information

Thanks for another brilliant video. Using you earlier work on best prices I have made quick calculation on potential income for the crops feed to pigs over 24 months using highest possible price and it is only little over 38000 so it is still 105000 better for pigs. With multifruit buying station mod you only have to grow corn, barley and canola and then just buy sugar beet as only small amount is required. Also you should check if possibly it would be better value to sell pigs after second breeding. You not getting max price but food consumption ration may be better and rotation will be simpler. I think you should consider sharing your excel calculations as well.

I think there is a small fallacy(?) in that calculation (excuse me if that's not the right word for it, english is a second language to me). I think in your example that you are calculating the profit for the 120 piglets... if I understood the chart correctly these piglets and the amount of food for them was never accounted for in the whole spreadsheet - the spreadsheet only tells you about the amount of food for the first 30 pigs and the only price for selling them after 24 months is 36k. In this case you paid 38k for food and sold the pigs for 36k - in my world that would mean a profit of negative 2k, you lose money. even not taking into account that you had to buy these 30 pigs for an additional 6k so in total you lost 8k.. But what about all these nice piglets, they were for free right? Yes but they still generate a loss of 2k per every 30 piglets you raised. Also you need to take into account that keeping and raising the offspring to sell them at a later age leads you into a vicious cycle of needing a lot of accomodation for all the new piglets and withing the 24 months of growth all the 120 piglets will give birth to another 480 new piglets, and they will give birth to another.... see? On a german video someone said sheep would generate a great deal of money if you raise them to become 36 months old. I'm not gonna recalculate this for the pigs but with sheep my information given was I need to raise them to 36 months, first reproduction starts at 10 months and then repeats every 5 months. This will finally lead into a cycle where you reach 2.240 sheep and at that point you get 320 newborns for every 320 that are old enough to be sold. Buying enough stables to accomodate all these sheep leads to a multi-million investment that almost takes a decade to break even on your initial cost. So my final verdict would be only play with pigs for the sake of wanting to play with them, you'll likely never make any money from them untill they decide to change some values in the base game.

You're view matches my testing, even selling the slurry and manure then on normal economy you will make about 20% more just selling the crops. And buying pig food costs more than you'll make selling the pigs. Disappointing as pigs were a great earner in FS19. If you're playing on hard economy pigs should make you more money so long as you grow the crops.

Taken your calculations into the account I would say buy ready pig food from the shop and you make profit plus if you sale slurry and manure or use it for the field the saving for using organic instead of chemicals would increase the number. I so based on full sale 144,000 for pigs 30.450 Slurry to bga what generate about 900 -1200 per 1000liter but I don’t own one so sale price is 700 Manure is a bit of a difficult one but I recon for 2 stage fertilisation you could save around 10000-15000 easily ---------- I would say based on your calculation you earn around 200k you take 76000 for buying pig food at the shop and you got your self a nice profit. I do recommend I production mod what creates pug feed / a silo what unloads pig food or auto load what helps with the amount of pallets you need. Reason I answer here is because i have pig on the French map and there are a nice stable income for with not much work if you use pig food :-)

To be honest that's not an easy task to calculate for that and I'll tell you why. If you're just planning on selling it you can already neglect the numbers just because 1.000 liters of manure or slurry only sell for 60 bucks in a normal difficulty setting (that's practically nothing). If you're planning on using it yourself on the fields instead of fertilizer you also need to take into account that the equipment to bring manure and slurry to teh fields is very expensive and it will take you many years to break even just by not having to buy the fertilizer. If you're planning on using it in your BGA... well you need a BGA for that and they don't come cheap either so if you were to buy said BGA just for the sake of being able to burn your slurry and manure it's gonna take many decades untill you get your money back from that investment.

I just did the math on this. If I use your numbers, and use average sell prices (Barley, Canola, Sugar beet and Corn) on the food they need in 24 months. Then 100 pigs eats food worth 155.608 and produce slurry and Manure worth 36.461. So thats expenses of 119.146 to sell them for 120.000. (They also produce 400 piglets, but they also need food). So pigs are only for fun in this game.

Unless you spread your wisdom with us idiots I'll give your comment as much credit as I'd give to a flat earther or any other conspiracy theorist... At the moment (current game mechanics) raising pigs consumes a higher value of food then the pigs generate in selling price if you feed them all availlable/necessary food sources. Someone in the comments mentioned you'd only need to feed base + grain for them to reach 100% productivity , in that case (if the spreadsheet is correct) every single raised pig would net a profit of roughly 400 bucks after 24 months in a normal difficulty environment. That is not much You could sell them earlier which would lead to a higher volume in sold pigs but at a lower profit since they sell for less money - well as already mentioned unless you fill me in with hard numbers I'm not gonna fire up my calculator... So please give us the hard facts/numbers of what to feed them and when to sell them and how many pigs we are talking about and if we are keeping the offspring to also sell them at a fixed age and then I'll prove to you that almost any other activity in the game will lead to a higher profit margin. Nobody is making "a lot of money" on pigs unless you use some kind of mods of alter some game files yourself...

But this doesn't matter to most players anyway, they will keep the health at max, and keep the pigs healthy.. The most important thing ain't to earn the most, but having the most fun they can have in game 🤷

It'a ironic pigs cost the most to feed given that they are famously unfussy eaters

i Just found out you cant build more then 10 animal pens on ps4 pro, i built four chicken coups, and wanted to expand my sheep to 8, for rotating them, but i was stuck at six pens... Tried another animal but that didnt work either. Man this is kind of dumb! 😪

Yeah, on PC there is a mod that expands the amount you can have to 64. It's a shame you can't have more on console 😕

On normal economy, its just not worth it. I'm making about 10% profit compared to selling crops. If you factor in price of maintenance on vehicles and trailers for feeding, cost of pig pigs, animal trailers, logistics...you break even. Only worth it on hard mode. But still not good like cows and chickens. Alteast they are better than horses which are a joke...it takes a decade to pay for the pen.
