As a guy that owns a Ford, I think this was freaking awesome! I own an 08 Ford with the 6.4 engine and haven't had problems with it. But if given the chance I would love to do something like this, super cool stuff man!
Weston , you are a great young man. We need more like you in this world! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work 👍
Who are the 90 asshats that downvoted this? Westen cracks me up while impressing me with his ability on the mechanical side. Makes me want to do something like this myself since I had a 2010 F350 Lariat that I loved...except for the gremlins!
Dude you crack me up and your videos are fun to watch definitely glad I found this channel.
Mr, Champlin, I want to thank you for everything you put into your videos. Its because of the laughs and cool projects you do that got me into the diesel industry. I have a tempermental 6.0 of my own and whenever im down on my luck about it I just watch a couple of your videos and im back to work laughing my behind off. Keep doing what you're doing brother!

@@joshring9710 you don't have to believe me but I do, in fact, work for Cummins. I'm a midrange/heavy duty technician because I don't work on generators, boats, or high horsepower and I work on almost nothing in the way of off highway equipment. I'm ALMOST exclusively truck specific because that's where all of my experience is. And I did, in fact, work for freightliner. But I'm sure some guy on the internet who's never met me would know more about it than I would.

Can you elaborate on how the transmission is controlled? Stand alone? Or just the factory PCM? This is a great video series in how you did this conversion and was fun to watch. I just wish I could find an engine that was anywhere near what you paid. Just have to keep searching.

I have a 2010 F-350 6.4L/bad and am now considering a swap to a Ford 6.7L. Would it be more economical than swapping with the 5.9L Cummings? Seems to me it may be a easier swap match. Your thoughts?
My question is about the gauge cluster and transmission. What did you use to make the gauges work and how did you get the trans to shift, did you use a stand alone system?
awsome video westen you did alot to this truck and it came along way great job thumbs up and shared
One hell of a truck, and you got an awesome truck for your investment! Looking forward to performance upgrades!
2:38 6.0 is far better than the 6.4. They need headstuds, gasket, egr delete, oil cooler and few other things. 6.4s are pretty much non-rebuildable; they're throwaway engines.

Wade you are correct 6.0 studded and deleted is the most reliable light duty v8 diesel besides the 7.3
@rondyechannel1399
4 жыл бұрын
Not true! The 6.4 fixed all the mechanical problems of the 6.0. The new emission requirements wreck the 6.4. Over fueling the rear two cylinders to heat the DPF only washed down the cylinders and filled the oil pan with fuel destroying the engine. My deleted 6.4 is at 299,000 and about to roll over. No issues other than leaky radiator hose coolant fix. That said I have a 5.9 bus ready if I ever need it. Love the power of the tuned 6.4!!!!!
@larrysheftel8380
4 жыл бұрын
So why do I say 6.0 6.4 junk. My 96 Dodge manual 4x4. How old is it? I only two ball joints replaced two belts. Still on stock water pump clutch and everything else This truck I give it hell and back and 4 wheel the hell off road it All friends that did buy the Ford's said never again . Why should you need to fix the motor of a diesel . At 100.000 miles ?
@rondyechannel1399
4 жыл бұрын
@@larrysheftel8380 The issue is the DPF!!!!!! A stupid poorly designed contraption that sent extra fuel into the rear cylinders for heat to regen. It didn't work and only filled the crankcase with fuel which makes a shitty lubricant. Wore out everything, so yes, junk by then. Throw it away. If you get rid of the EGR and DPF BEFORE it eats the motor they will last. I'm not comparing to the 5.9 which I still have in a 1989 1 ton 4X4 from new. My deleted 6.4 has right at 300,000 and NO problems. After all the bad press I also have an early 24V 5.9 sitting in a low mileage bus if I need it. The 6.4 is quiet and powerful and so far very reliable, but it has been deleted since new. Others have the same experience. Others let the fuel oil in the crankcase wear out everything from the rockers down. It was famous for 'making oil' on the dipstick.
That’s Kansas state government school math right there.
Great build Westen way to go ...
Hey man I enjoyed the video again. Keep on making them and I'll keep on watching. From Robert Fish
My 6.0 is running great! 225k with stage 1 turbo, one over stock injectors, tuned, and factory head gaskets! It's daily towed also

Great job Westin. Great truck too.
Hey bud! I have a 2009 F250 Super Duty with a 5.9L gas engine I’d like to swap out for a Cummins but idk if I need the 12 or 24 valve for what I need it for as I’m trying to get into hotshot work!
Good Video.Now wait til someone wants to borrow it,or they need you to move furniture cause thier moving.
I just found your channel and I love it. Keep up the great wrk
Bro. Your vids are cool and informative. Probably going to do this and use it as a toy hauler.
What auction sites do you use to find a truck like this that needs a motor?
You said you got the 5r110 tuned. What tuning did you go with? Great video!
@dw6505
4 жыл бұрын
If they tune the existing computer you can still have the tow/haul function. The other option you don't have tow/haul. I don't think they have any stand alone tuners the customer can tune by themselves for the 5r110. They didn't a year or two ago when I did my swap. I bought a livewire ts to record a datalog off the computer, then email that to DCS. They write a tune, email it back, use the livewire to load it in the truck computer, take it for a spin and record another datalog, email that back to them, and keep doing that till it's dialed in. Could maybe take it to a performance shop to tune also probably.
Thank you for the cost breakdown! Great video
Bout time we got a new video! Thought I was gonna hafta drive out there and check on ya.
What's the Kansas 75Mph Hwy MPG's with the Cummins?
Now that you have done this swap does this mean this truck is "Built Ford Tough" or is it "Cummin strong"? Edit: I just realized I misspelled "Cummins" but I'll leave it there because it sounds like a good time either way
