HOW MUCH I PAID FOR MY 1989 C4 CORVETTE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, I explain how much I paid for my Corvette. When I bought it, it was in good condition with about 78,000 miles on it. Corvette's are awesome cars and this beauty was worth every penny.

I should have mentioned the specific mileage in the video but didn’t so I apologize. The car had about 78,000 miles on it when I bought it. I think I got a really good deal! What say you?

Your cars beautiful, 78K is awesome, good price too. Mine is the 1984 Red on Red, it was stored inside for 29 years so the paint is good, the carpet needs to be reattached in the back under the hatchback, tune up and serious detailing! The engines never been cleaned but with only 18K on it, its understandable. Paid less then 5K but drove it straight home (350 miles) no problemo. Ok I have 2 issues the wipers are not working well and one headlight failed but its a jet! Oh I paid less then 5K for it 😁

That C4 looks fantastic. I have a 1989 C4 myself and I love it. 1989 was the final year of the “Battlestar Galactica digital dash”, which I really like. I think the price is very good if the car has not had any major damage at any point. That color is fairly rare compared to other colors.

Love that dark blue! Nice car, and I think the price is fair, within the current world of Corvette valuations. Those chassis braces are extremely worth having, and cost about $800 altogether with shipping and taxes. So that's a big plus. Most early C4s were automatics, and it was a very well-programmed gearbox that earned high praise from Car & Driver at the time. You could do a manual swap, but that's a pain, and it's not exactly cheap to do right. The car was clearly very well maintained, and carefully modded, by a mature and knowledgeable Corvette enthusiast. You win, dude!

Nice ride there Jeff, I really dig the blue color. You remind me of the enthusiasm when I picked my '85 up 20 years ago :) C4's are a tremendous value in today's market for folks willing to do their own repairs. You could drive this everyday, and as long as you keep it in the same condition it wont depreciate a penny.

I was looking for a C4 a few years back. I was very familiar with the TPI engines from a Z28 I'd had for years. I was torn between the L98 and LT1, the opti spark gremlin in the LT1 was a factor, but I knew I could fix that if necessary. I decided to go with the LT1 because of the extra HP. I ended up paying 7750 for a 95 with 62k miles on it, super clean. I think you got a good, deal, congrats and enjoy.

You made a good choice with the LT1. I know the optispark can be a problem, but if you ask around you can probably find someone to fix or replace that optispark with a rebuilt one that has a hole drilled in it for a vacuum line that will remove any moisture that gets in there. That LT1 in nearly indestructible. I have overheated mine to the point that it simply wouldnt run anymore. No damage. Well, except for the coolant I had to replace, a lot ended up on the pavement.

@@VroodenTheGreat I fixed my own. Twice. Took about 4 or 5 hours between beers. I bought a Autzone Duralast Opti with a lifetime warranty. I think the trick is to run a ground from the front of the block to the frame. Keeps the opti from shorting out. I've had good success so far. Peace!

@@clydemoreno7330 I'm glad to to hear its working good. I found a mechanic that knows a guy that rebuilds them. He took one of the vacuum hoses from the motor and used that vacuum to dump any moisture that accumulates in the distributor into the air intake. I'm told that solves it. It's only been a couple months, we'll see how it goes.

A small world after all! I bought a 1989 C4 in October of 2019 in Tennessee. I should make a video on it and showcase the car! It is my first car purchase (not first car however) and I couldn't be more proud. I think for 6,800 dollars you got a pretty good deal considering the shape the exterior and interior are in. If i ever get around to making my video I'll discuss yours; yours is quite the beauty. Thanks for sharing.

Bought my '96 in September 2015 with 86K miles. $7,500. Considering you dodged the Optispark bullet, I think you did very well. In the years since then a couple of lane-changing dumbasses have bounced off my plastic car to the tune of $3,400. It buffed out and I banked the cash. So not counting maintenance the adjusted cost basis for my invisible Torch Red daily driver dropped to $4,100. About right for an Optispark challenged vette.

Went to the car meet near me again yesterday. There was a friend of a friend with a recent c4 purchase. When he told me and my buddy the price we were quite surprised. He got a one owner ‘93 Anniversary Edition coupe manual w/35k miles. Paid $10,500. The fella he bought it from was 80 and simply could not get in and out of it anymore. His wife was reportedly excited she could not have the garage to herself. Getting old sucks. Good video. I think you got a good deal. I’ve got a few cars and now I am getting the itch for a c4 or c5. May need to opt for a c5 for easier entry and exit. Its videos like this that make a pandemic bearable. Thanks.

I have a red on graphite 86 with 17,000 original miles that I paid $9300 for and an 88 red on tan with 108,000 miles that I paid $2800 for. I enjoy driving the 88 way more than the 86. The 86 is a garage queen and I feel guilty putting miles on her. I have a blast driving the 88. I drive the 88 to work 90 miles round trip everyday weather permitting and she’s never let me down the two years I’ve owned her. Good luck with your 89.

I bought a '92 with 74,000 miles a few months ago for $4,700 in great condition. I gave it a tune up, changed several $10ish sensors and killed a few Gremlins but other than that it's great. The body/paint and leather look new and it runs really well. I think that I got an especially good deal though just because the dealer dropped the price of every car on the lot by 30% to unload inventory before winter so this isn't to say that you didn't also get a good deal.

I wouldn't say you got ripped off or anything like that but I personally think you should have paid $6K or less. But I have not seen what kind of work was done. I personally wouldn't pay more than $5K for one but expect to find one around $3500 that could use a bit or refurbishing because I'm more about sweat equity over paying up front. But then again, the word equity and c4 isn't really a thing since they're still going down in value. But hey, for a c4, yours looks to be in pretty good shape.

Just my opinion, I would hardly call 78k "low miles." Yes it is from an every day driving standpoint, but with Corvettes, "low miles is for a car like that under 20k, under 30k for sure. 78k is a "driver." I think your price is very fair and it's a really nice car. In 2016 I sold a '94 Coupe with every option except two tops including ride control, all original with 63k miles for $8900 in Indianapolis. I had done a lot of the rubber around the car but not all of it. The driver door window gasket needed to be replaced. The tires were new, the front shocks were new. The Climate control had been replaced once and 5 years later it was starting to act up again but was fine when I sold... I wonder if instead of tearing it down spraying it with "Deoxit" would help? That was the only offer I had I advertised on Cars.com and Autotrader. A very clean car. Black on black I do like your color very much. My car was totally stock not one mod. I have a friend who had a '93 Anniversary model convertible, 21k miles not one rattle, unbelievable to drive a C4 with no rattles he sold for $13k also in 2016. He started at $18k and it was his only offer. This is Indianapolis Penske Indy (IMS - Indy Motor Sports) area big car nuts. C4's are the great bargain they are much cheaper than 3rd Gen F bodies which get little respect, but so many were made I don't think prices will ever come back very much. Personally, I think the sweet spot for C4's is '90 and '95-'96 at about 50k miles. Can get them really cheap. Pay a lot for a really low mileage C4 and you will lose your shirt the moment you put any miles on them. '90 is the combo new dash and old body car, and the last two years the "optispark" drain hole was improved as were the brakes and a few other things. Basically the Heavy Duty Track Pack became standard in '95.
