    Reallt thorough breakdown and i appreciate your transparency. Currently in the hiring process and you have explained everything so well. I think you should definitely go into scheduling because you seem to have a knack for it lol . When you just started , like fresh out of training what was your pay range? Was it between $1500-3000k a month or was it significantly lower ? I’m nervous about the beginning pay.

  • @mynextlocation

    You’re welcome! The first month after training is a bit tricky because it might include training pay depending on when you graduate. But personally I did not pick up any additional trips, got used on my reserve days sufficiently and included training pay, earned over $2000. 2nd month made over $4000(no extra trips picked)

    @allyshea: Every airline is different when it comes to the pay. Princella is damn lucky to have landed a flight attendant job at a top notch airline .....most people don't get hired to Delta in their first go around!! So you have to do your due research about the pay scale for the airlines that you are applying to. Generally airlines jobs, especially flight attendant jobs are tricky and you can easily get furloughed if the economy goes south or if a certain aircraft gets grounded like presently the 737 MAX is grounded . Generally you will not be making good money till at least your first five years !! You may have to commute to get to work which is another hassle and an expense!! Be very careful before you give up you good paying job (if you have one) to become a flight attendant .....it is a very tricky situation!!

    @nina: You are right it is confusing and the airlines want it that way!! They want to confuse you because the pay is chicken feed!! especially in the regional airlines. You really need to have a rich boy friend to make ends meet especially if you are going to be commuting to go to work ,which I would discourage vehemently!! My advice to you would be to get yourself trained in a technical field and you will get paid bouquet $$$$$ . Airline jobs (except captains) don't pay well and as a flight attendant you are nothing but a number and can very easily be replaced!! The only requirement to become a flight attendant is a GED diploma!! Airlines know that there are thousands of pretty boys and girls of all colors that desperately want this job and therefore they have NO incentive to give any extras ( more pay) to the flight attendants!!

    It’s not so much so dependent on the hours but where you’re flying to. For example JFK to London(about 6hrs) but will get crew rest whereas SEA to Fort Lauderdale or JFK to SEA(about 6hrs) will not have crew rest.

    Tax deductions differ from state to state and if you don’t live at base you get charged in both states(your primary resident and where you work). But all things being equal I expect about 15-20% of pay to go towards taxes and deductions.

  • @genten777

    @genten777

    4 ай бұрын

    @shariwatson: Certain states have very high state income taxes ie New York, Illinois and California, MN, MA. Try not to be based out of there. Also, make sure you have some money going into the 401k plan of your company!! Airlines don't have retirement pensions....you have to prepare yourself for that through a 401K. That would mean an additional amount of $$ being taken out of your pay check!!
