How Much I ACTUALLY Made at Every Job (Finance, Tech) | Your Rich BFF
Let's get FINANCIALLY naked. YUP. SALARY TRANSPARENCY!
You know I'm the BIGGEST proponent of talking about how much you make and what you did to get there. I firmly believe that it's the only way that we can get to know our worth.
As a disclaimer, the aim of this video was not to make anyone feel inferior. The goal of this video isn't to brag or share. It's meant to get real, talk about difficult things to help you feel more comfortable discussing money. In my experience, the only way that I was able to learn to ask my boss for more or look for another job was by talking about things like this. I've been very fortunate to have this career path. But I also gave it my all

I was able to spot the main difference between her job and my job. When I put in the extra hours, my paycheck looks the same. When she puts in the extra hours, her paycheck increases. I'm the type of person who will work extremely hard if the benefits scale with my work. It's the reason why I'm increasingly losing interest in my job and making plans to get my own business up and running this year. The other day my manager told me I didn't seem enthusiastic about work. Oh the things I wanted to say in that moment but didn't. It's time to switch jobs.
Thank you for being so transparent, sometimes I worry because I’m not in a stem major so it is really refreshing to see people making really good money without being a software engineer, doctor or any other job typically seen as well-paying

DW you got this!!! Unless you are doing a job that requires one (like a doctor), you don't even need a degree if you're a fast learner. And dw, you can learn to be a fast learner!!! It's quite easy to make money in the USA.
I can see why you made those sales, you're not intimidating, and a good speaker, love that for u!
Things are a bit strange right now. Inflation is making the US dollar weaker for buying things, but it's getting stronger against other stuff. So, stuff like stocks, houses, crypto, and precious metals aren't doing so great because folks are putting their money into dollars for safety. I'm worried about my retirement savings losing value fast. Where should I put my money to keep it safe?

LOVE your channel! Your videos are so informative.
I started in my early 20s investing in myself and began to save as much as possible. At the age of 16 and until the age of 28 I work two or three jobs and was able to obtained my four year degree in a mere 4.5 years @ the age of 23. After graduation still continued to work a full time job, while working a part time. Began investing in the real estate market at the age of 26. Now at the age of 32, I have several real estate under my name. Also, thankfully I have obtain a few sport / and other vehicles paid off. I am now in sales in the HVAC industry and never turned back. My net worth is above the 2 million mark now. I am not here to boast, but to let everyone one know that hard-work really pays off although this may sound cliche. 🙏

Great video! Had no clue about the income tracking website. Thank you for that. So cool! Been in the security industry for the last 10years. Started in armed security at local church, moved into security management for Charles Schwab and CyrusOne data centers, then moved into selling commercial security straight commission. Security management is great and on track to make 90k gross the third year, but hated punching a clock and not having a say in how much I make. First year sales was a rough start at 36k since I had never done sales. But found the groove and doubled the earnings at 75k net for my second year. For no base and straight commish, only 25k off my goal of 100k. If I keep the same traction going into 2023, 100k looks like a breeze. 🤞🏽💰💯🔥 Sales is a great way to increase overall income if u can handle the hustle!

Tech sales is the new wallstreet. I'm making the most money I've made in my career, I have more free time, I'm working in a healthy environment, and I was able to get my position without taking on any student loans (I did get my AA through scholarships and OOP, but it wasn't necessary to land the entry level positions)
Omg! You're amazing, you're a role model, thank you for all these valuable tips #richbff
I love your content! Can you address at some point what those of us with not much (read: any) leverage in salary negotiation can do while still having some semblance of work/life balance (as in not taking a second job)? I'm a teacher and it feels unattainable to ever be able to become a millionaire - or even set up well for retirement.

I love the idea that we should all share our pay. However, this doesn’t work everywhere. In my first job temping in a recruitment agency, we got into an issue where a client of ours had to fire the contract staff we placed at the company two weeks after he started with them. Reason being, the guy had shared his salary with his new colleagues and his entire department then asked for a pay raise. The company had actually budgeted higher for his pay because he wasn’t getting benefits (which also costs our client) that the full time staff were given. End of the day, the guy that shared his salary was fired and the rest of the full time staff got the raise they want but no additional headcount (so everyone has to work more to ‘justify’ their higher pay). We did try to place that guy in another job later on, but he got a better offer from a different recruitment agency. For context though, I’m in Singapore where there is virtually no worker protection since we are all not allowed to go on strikes or riots. So the action of sharing his pay, was viewed as misconduct (which did lead to mutiny of sorts within the department). If you go to Singapore’s MOM website, that is valid grounds for dismissal and he wouldn’t have been able to contest that. This was also in 2008, where most people would be happy just having a job to stay on.
Thanks for sharing. Sales is certainly the source of big bucks. How was your pay in digital marketing compared to your co-workers- I mean, were your sales exceptional or most there were achieving similar rates? Was the work easier, same, or harder than your Wall St position?
Thank you!!!! Here they want you to paid for your earning because of a computer error. Thanks so much!
Id love to hear more about your sales job what did a day in the life look like? Thanks for being transparent!
Thank you for sharing you journey in this video. Happy for you for your successes and many more. Inspiring for someone to really think about what I want to do and pursue it!
Hi bestie! Thanks for all the info! I wanted to ask, are these numbers your gross income? Was it all on W2 or do the later years include your LCC/Corp earnings?
Thanks so much for this video! It’s a great reminder of the futility and long term repercussions regarding secrecy around things we spend so much time doing; as a high schooler interested in finance, I truly appreciate what you’re doing to set the precedent for our future norms😚
Great Video! It'd also be great to see how the skills you learned at Buzzfeed (i.e selling ads, and overall monetization) transferred over into your personal KZread career (as well as your new newsletter subscription) and maybe an insight how the salary of 2021 compares to 2022.

I really enjoy your content Vivian. Thanks for all the great information. Any advice for someone who has arrived at age 60 and has only a small nest egg (say: 50k) to work with? …never managed to get on a truly prosper career track. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for the transparency and not coming off like you’re bragging. This was so informative. I’ve been wondering how much I’ve made and have gone into social security. I recently started earning a somewhat livable salary ($50k) but I also live in NYC and sh!t is expensive so this income means very little. Working on obtaining a license for healthcare management to double that within a couple years. I’ve hit my 30s and have been studying up on things I should’ve learned over a decade ago but better late than never I guess. Thanks for all your advice!
