How much does it cost to live in the Philippines? Detailed Cost of Living in the Philippines 2024.

This video details all of our major living expenses living here in Cebu City Philippines. It covers our common monthly expenses such as rent, groceries, and entertainment. The cost of living in Cebu, Philippines, for a foreigner can vary widely depending on lifestyle choices, housing preferences, and personal spending habits. Generally, Cebu is considered more affordable compared to many Western countries, but the cost can still vary significantly based on location within the city and individual preferences.
*Housing:*
- *Rent:* Rental prices in Cebu can range widely. A basic studio or one-bedroom apartment in a decent neighborhood might cost around PHP 10,000 to PHP 20,000 per month ($200 to $400 USD). For a more luxurious or larger accommodation, prices can go higher.
- *Utilities:* Monthly utilities (electricity, water, garbage, internet) for a typical apartment might cost around PHP 5,000 to PHP 8,000 ($100 to $160 USD) depending on usage.
*Food and Groceries:*
- *Groceries:* A typical grocery bill for basic items could range from PHP 5,000 to PHP 15,000 ($100 to $300 USD) per month, depending on dietary preferences and shopping habits.
- *Dining out:* Eating at local eateries (carinderias) or mid-range restaurants can cost around PHP 150 to PHP 500 ($3 to $10 USD) per meal. Dining at upscale restaurants may cost more.
*Transportation:*
- *Public transportation:* Jeepneys and buses are affordable, with fares typically ranging from PHP 7 to PHP 20 ($0.14 to $0.40 USD) depending on distance. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Grab are also available.
- *Gasoline:* Gasoline prices are around PHP 60 to PHP 70 ($1.20 to $1.40 USD) per liter.

- *Fitness:* Gym memberships range from PHP 1,000 to PHP 3,000 ($20 to $60 USD) per month.
*Overall Lifestyle:*

However, costs can escalate depending on lifestyle choices such as housing location, dining preferences, and recreational activities. It's advisable for newcomers to budget accordingly and explore local options for cost-effective living while enjoying the cultural and natural attractions that Cebu has to offer.

I'm a frugal old man - alone - retired and thrifty seeking - but also comfortable w/ac as needed. A furnished small studio is perfect - but can it be had for less than $340 & still near everything ? -- My hope is get/hire a 'helper' 1 day/week to clean shop & cook enough for a few days ? I'll order delivery or eat out the rest of the week. (?) Ideally - I hope to fit this into about the same $1200 you budgeted for 2 people.....but removed the $1000. ---?--- I'll actually have $1500+ - ''if needed'' ? --- Eastwood in Manila has studios for $320 or so in a nice area with everything needed ! 🤔

Hello, $1500 for a single person, even in the Ayala Cebu City area is very possible. The prices are all over the place so some searching will be necessary to find what fits you. Here is a Condo in the Ayala area for only P13000 ~ $220. I do not know this building and exactly where it is but it is an example of low cost living fully furnished. Let e know if you have any other questions. Generally Mactan is cheaper but in my opinion not as nice as Cebu City. Sorry for the long crazy link but I got it off of Facebook Market place. Hopefully you can see the link and its contents. facebook.com/marketplace/item/1808339806295860?ref=category_feed&referral_code=undefined&referral_story_type=listing&tracking=%7B%22qid%22%3A%22-1768118736250932447%22%2C%22mf_story_key%22%3A%227686560361377271%22%2C%22commerce_rank_obj%22%3A%22%7B%5C%22target_id%5C%22%3A7686560361377271%2C%5C%22target_type%5C%22%3A0%2C%5C%22primary_position%5C%22%3A1%2C%5C%22ranking_signature%5C%22%3A3057794844158656214%2C%5C%22commerce_channel%5C%22%3A504%2C%5C%22value%5C%22%3A0.0038626573846254%2C%5C%22candidate_retrieval_source_map%5C%22%3A%7B%5C%227686560361377271%5C%22%3A204%7D%7D%22%7D

Hi Billy, Calyx Residences is really nice. You can find two here in Cebu City, and both are near shoppin malls. I love the amenities at Calyx. Are you staying only a short time? If so, look on airbnb to book a stay. If you are looking long-term, email me @ thetraveler2024@gmail.com and I will send you the realtor name and number who i used to rent a place.

Hey guys, I'm born and raised in the Bronx NYC. God willing I will be in the Philippines within the coming year. I'm going to do an exploratory trip first for about a month then decide if it's a good fit for me. I'm thinking about 1700 USD monthly to live in The Philippines Cebu. Do you guys think that is enough. I'm single and my party day's are behind me. Appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Hi Robert. Thank you for visiting our channel. I believe $1700USD is more than enough. Your housing cost is the biggest expense and you should be at $500 or below. If you are going to use Airbnb it could be higher, but not necessarily. Let me know if you need any help finding a place or if you would like a conversation on whatsapp. Email me if you like at thetraveler2024@gmail.com

One of three things must be true, you live a lavish and excessive lifestyle, you are being taken, or everyone else on the subject is lying. There are tons of videos saying that you can live well on a 1000 USD, dinner for two 20 dollars? That is almost what you would pay int the US, a 1000 for entertainment? I don't spend that now in Florida!

Everyone "else" is selling a product to broke expats hoping to escape to asia on a fantasy. He lumped alot into entertainment but 2265 is hyper realistic in manila unless you just want to sit in your room all day sweating. I appreciate this video, also living in Asia. Tbh anyone trying to make it this way, on 1000 or less should really just stay home. The only thing he missing in this budget, which he probably does personally, is saving 20 - 30% on top of this amount for emergencies. FYI my budget is similar but I am putting away a good amount every month.
