This guy has the most wholesome dad energy. I love how he goes like 'well the wife bought a puppy once... so it's ok for me to buy a tank'

cool fact: if you add rubber paddings to the tracks and the tank does not exceed road limitations, you can actually use it as a daily vehicle

Eddie it’s a 30mm RARDEN cannon fitted. Don’t swap it out you will lose value. And you would also need to chance the elevation balancing gear and all sort. If u need any help in the turret I have years of experience maintaining them and would gladly help you out. And you should get a floatation screen and take her swimming lol

The parent of a kid at my school owned a limousine service. About half a dozen times over four years, he got driven to school or picked up in a stretched limousine with chauffeur. Here we are 30 years later, and I and his other school mates still remember it and are talking about it. I'm sure the same will be true here. Making lifetime memories.

For future info when filling up.... The catches to lock a pump are still there on UK pumps, they've just removed the pin it latches against, a short (2 inch or so) bit of wire coat hanger is the perfect size to put through the little hole in the handle so you can latch the pump on. I've got a length of coat hanger with a loop I bent into it on my keys for latching pumps on.

Love this man for picking his son up in a tank and not putting it in title to bait us all. That's big man stuff right there.

Former 19K20 US Tanker here. Eddie's son cackling like a madman from the hatch is worth every penny to a father. It'd be fun to see you take it out to a range if they'll let you and let that 35mm bark at some targets. Also. Needs a flag. Big Union Jack on a whip aerial.

@@chuckmaddison2924 this is a significantly smaller tank than the ones we can have here in texas. + i legally carry OTF 7 inch switchblades and my glock 19. id say uk still has one of the most restricting laws but its for a reason, you dont have a gun smuggling problem like america does and protection against armed criminals is more important here than anywhere else. if i was still in england id see no reason to carry guns at all.

@@chuckmaddison2924 The main gun is most likely demilitarized, which makes it a mere tracked offroad vehicle. Even if it wasn't, getting your hands on the ammo will be close to impossible. Chances are, even the fire control unit and any advanced optics are removed, too.

Nice to see you and your son have so much fun . I was a driver & mecanical of those CVRT's, as also m113, m109 etc... But most of all Leopard tanks. One remark: When I sit in the turret I always keep one arm horizontal in front of me to protect my face in case the driver makes an emergency stop or on rough terrain. After 38 years in the army I remember some guys hitting those episcopes or brackets in front of them and losing some teeth. Don't want to see that happening with your kid... Enjoy the ride.

@@hal_s8745 This is a Scimitar, has got a 30mm cannon. The whole CVRT family has got 7 types. This Scimitar, his brother (also with a turret) the Scorpion with a 76mm cannon, Then the ones with a bigger hull: The Spartan (personal carrier), the Striker (rocket launcher), the Sultan (command vehicle), the Samaritan (medical vehicle) and the Samson (recovery vehicle). We used them also in Somalië and nevertheless the heat they were rather reliable and because they are fast and not as big as a medium tank a usefull vehicle.

@@hal_s8745 It's a CVR(T) Sabre. It's a later addition to the CVR(T) family and consisted of a Scorpion hull and the turret from the CVR(W) Fox. The conversions were done circa 1994 after the Scorpion and the Fox were decommissioned.

If you rev it in neutral or snap change the box, you wont be driving it long. The detuned Jag engine doesnt like it neither does the gearbox. . Also you will be looking at about 6 mpg. Tuning: we used to swap the MOD carb for the triple SU as fitted on the Civvy Jag engine.

I used to crew this type of light tank when I was in the army and during the first gulf war, we would usually get refuelled every two to three days. The fuel tank is about 350 litres (usable) and is of a vulcanised rubber bag inside an aluminium box and is pain to change. You seem to be missing the rear stowage box from the rear of the turret. When you change from 4 to 3 gear, you have to drop the revs right down so you don't bounce the bods in the turret around, it comes with practice. I have been looking for the one I crewed in the gulf war hoping to buy it and its not been decommisioned and sent to be used as a target on a range. Enjoy your Scimitar cvrt Eddie.

I think this is a Saber, there are a few small details that are more obvious but I'm not an expert. The Scimitar is still in service but some have been sold to Latvia and a few given to Ukraine. You might still get you're chance to buy it, if it hasn't already gone on to a new home.

@@SentaDuck the sabre came about when the fox armoured car got taken out of service and the main give away is the night sight cowl, scimitar had a square cover door and scorpion/sabre had a round one, but you are spot on with the slight differences in turret bits

@@davidtaylor8464 Turret isn't tall enough to be a Scimitar. Also the Scimitar was fitted with a GPMG and not a chaingun, the shroud for the chaingun is clearly visible.

Top tip, either jam the filler cap in the handle or something else to keep it squeezed in when filling up. works a treat

It's an FV101 right? those have an almost 100 GALLON fuel tank, that might also be where the guy who sold it got confused.

In Germany we have truck pumps with high speed pumps. In addition the handle locks itself, you can walk around und don’t have to grab it.

Nice one Eddie !!! Just a tip from a former user of these fab little armoured vehicles... Only need to use first gear when performing tight turns or high incline/decline... For general use,, pull away in 2and 3rd or even sometimes 4th.. Make sure revs are low when switching from forward to reverse ,, or your teeth will fall out from the noise .. Hope you get some great use out of it ..

But you would need to own a huge tract of land to fire it on, and of course that would probably stop it being a road legal vehicle. Kinda swings and roundabouts situation 'course nothing stopping you fitting the larger barrel up to fire fully legal rockets on private land, just saying :-) Wouldn't take much... Seriously cool toy, what else should The Beast drive :-)

Pull away in 3rd/4th so much smoother. Don't kick down from 4th to 3rd unless you're going really slow (high range to low range)or as seen you get the commanders kick from throwing them halfway out of their hatch. Or a shovel or pick helve wrapped on top of your helmet depending on how they were feeling at the time?

4:47 i can HELP with that! you need to press the handle and look out for that little thing you can lock! there is a little second handle and you can lock it - it gets triggered by the automatic system if the tank is full!

i know accectly how eddie was feeling on the station. in this harvest season, we have to refill our combine harvester, a claas lexion 8900 tt on a public petrol station. we refill round about 1100 liter of diesel, the fuel tank can hold 1150 liter. The good think is, that in germany you dont need to hold it the whole time. funny thing: as we hit the 1000 liter, there was an error on the station display 🤣 the cost for 1 liter at that day was 1,60 €, so total cost of round about 1800 € , on todays change rate (25. Oktober 23) is was ca 1550 pound, but we get a coffee and a sausage for free for the whole team of 4 people 😆
