Lecture by Dr. Rasheed Arshad as he explores the profound impact of modernity on our lives.
Dr. Muhammad Rasheed Arshad is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy, at the University of Punjab Lahore. He earned his Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of the Punjab in 2007. In his MA Philosophy, he was awarded the K. B. Sheikh Nanak Bakhsh Silver Medal, and the Khawaja Ghulam Sadiq Gold Medal by the University. In his PhD (Philosophy) dissertation from the University of Karachi, he discussed the issue of Islamic Modernism, with reference to Fundamentalism and Cosmopolitan Liberalism. He had also done Bs (Hons) in Tafseer & Hadith and an M.Phil. in Hadith Studies, both from the faculty of Usuluddin, the International Islamic University Islamabad. Previously he had completed a Master of Business Administration degree from Hamdard University. He is a keen student of Islamic and Western thought. In Philosophy his major areas of interest are Modern Political theory, Contemporary Moral Philosophy, Modernity, and Postmodernism.
