How Michael Carrick Has TRANSFORMED Middlesbrough So Quickly! | Explained

Спорт

Michael Carrick has exploded back into the public consciousness after taking the reins at Middlesbrough. In just 4 months, he has taken Boro from 22nd in the table to 3rd, now with one eye on automatic promotion back to the Premier League. It may be the former Manchester United caretakers first senior role in management, but it looks like a job he was born to do.
What’s even more impressive is the style of football he has deployed, turning Boro into a versatile attacking unit that score goals for fun, spearheaded by a reborn Chuba Akpom. So how has Carrick transformed the atmosphere at the Riverside Stadium and put Middlesborough on course for promotion? Find out in our latest Football Daily Explained.

Chuffed for Carrick. A United legend. A world class midfielder who I knew had the intelligence to go on and manage. He’s a serial winner. 5 league titles , Fa Cup , European Cup, Europa league the lot. Played 50 games a season , rarely injured. A quiet lad but a top bloke. So pleased he’s got Boro playing great football and he won’t jump ship now. He’s not daft. Not bad for a Newcastle fan😂. Well done Carrick lad.

There was something there and he made it clear that he had different ideas to Ole who was clueless. I’m an Arsenal fan. If you rank all different types of midfielders in England. I would say Scholes is the top player. He is a genius. Best of the best. And then, a level down would be Carrick. A great player. Foden is also a great talent. Rice, Bellingham, Palmer, could become very good as well. And then, it would be Maddison. Maybe Wilshere as well. Lampard and Gerrard are overrated.

@@Benjamin-gt6si. You’re spot on there with your first comment. Scholes was the best English midfielder of his generation and would walk into any team in Europe Barca at their pomp easily. A genius of a player. Then Carrick just below yes. The pair were United’s engine room through one of our most successful periods. I’ve always likened Carrick to Busquets. Very similar. Holding midfielders who can control the tempo of games , read the game and great passing ranges. I’d edge Carrick actually. Rice is decent but not at their level and don’t think ever will be. Foden is a talent it pains me to say. When he’s on his game reminds me of a Gazza with his dribbling ability. Same shit hair cut too. Looks like a little chav Foden Now United out the race for title barring a huge collapse I hope you win the league pal. Don’t want that corrupt set of cunts winning a thing. It’s all gonna come out.

The england job should be reserved for good but not world class coaches like southgate or coaches that are past their peak. I also think this because england have a very good squad already, any manager will get them to the major tournaments, then after that its all about the players character

Not great either but hey ho. But seriously well done to Carrick. I love the Championship, I honestly think it's the most entertaining league in the world and over the years I've seen plenty of managers who are successful at that level but struggle at the level above but I don't see Carrick being one of those managers. On a tactical level he seems to understand the game in a way most English managers struggle to. Carrick is great, watching the Boro is fun again, and the positivity is novel. I would say though under Wilder we were playing much better football than the standing in the table suggested, I don’t think had he stayed we would have been battling relegation all season, we would have climbed but wouldn’t be 3rd by any stretch - mid table maybe. I’m glad he’s gone though, he was always Teflon in blaming everyone but him for negative results, and the flirting with other jobs was toxic. We have a record for giving coaches first jobs and it panning out well. Woodgate was over ambitious and changed too much too often but I think in the long term he’ll wind up being a good coach too.

Neither of them have the ego for it I don't think. You could tell Gerrard was slightly embarassed to even be at Villa. I think Lampard has the potential to be a great coach but I just don't see either of them accepting a move down there.

@@willbentley8856 I actually think they both could be good managers. But the Prem is not the place to go unless you're a top coach from one of the other big leagues I'd say top 7 or leagues or you get promoted from Champ. I think more English managers should follow Scott parker and go and manage in the other top leagues first.

I think the right road map is: start from The Championship, bring the clubs promote to The Prem, and keep the clubs stay there for some seasons before move to bigger clubs.

How pleased am I with Carrick? He took a squad of players ( becasue they were not a team at all under wilder) destined for relegation to now battling for automatic promotion in 4 months. He took a player (just one example of many) who was told to “ find another club” at the start of the season and made him into the top scorer of the league and smashing middlesbroughs goal scoring records. He helped hundreds if not thousands of fans who had ultimately given up on this club and any chance of victory and helped them to falll in love all over again. What do I think of Carrick? I’ll put it down to one word. Glorious 🙌

No disrespect but I think the formations are just OGS formations, both in attack and defense. I even can put the players names on every position. The problem was too much fans pressure for OGS that made that didn't work well. Hope Borocan promotes to EPL with Carrick and playing well there.

Still got Josh Coburn to come back as well and he is the best finisher from crosses at Middlesbrough. would be a big asset for them when he's back.

He's the best thing since sliced bread. The football we play now is just so good to watch. Our Chairman likes to give ex players the chance at management, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't . Robbo 👍 Karanka 👍 Woodgate 👎 Carrick👍 (so far) UTB

The biggest mistake Carrick can do is rush it like Lampard and Gerrard did he needs to stay and learn at a club like Boro to gain more experience.

He inherited a great team that was disillusioned with their previous manager. The position channels like this keep mentioning as a ''relegation battle'' is at best stupid. Boro have been knocking on the door of promotion every single season for years. Carrick is doing a wonderful job, but it;s not all Carrick and to suggest as much is silly.
