    There is already a Star Wars book about Jar Jar Binks during the Empire's reign. He entertains children on the streets of Naboo and then he tells this child who comes up to him about his role in the Senate and the fall of the Republic. This book was also published after TFA was released so it has to be a part of the main universe and not Legends.

    I love the idea of Jar Jar just being played straight. Where he's actually written as a funny character rather than shoved into "funny" scenes as some moron. I would even be okay with him being Snoke... except it isn't some master plan, he's just kind of fumbling his way around being evil, mostly just repeating the things his First Order advisers argue about. In the end it turns out that Jar Jar/Snoke is just a puppet of the force, and yeah, Hux is the real enemy. So when Luke reveals that he's too old to actually fight and our heroes find our there is no great Sith Lord, it's just Kylo and Rey on this weird coming of age adventure figuring out how to balance between light and dark to defeat the First Order.

If they'd read it, however, (it's available online if you just search for it) they'd realise that, had it been adapted faithfully, it would have been fucking excellent.

    Saleh Ali I'm not only talking about TFA specifically. The prequels, R1, TFA, Clone Wars and Rebels all never really got past the Originals. I don't know, it's just like the studios don't trust that the Star Wars Universe could be good and interesting beyond them. They always have to connect everything to the OT.

  • @Di7manya

    @Di7manya

    7 жыл бұрын

    I agree. The SW universe has so much potential for new ideas, yet everything always comes down to "destroy the Death Star". There are also two things that I hate that are by now ingrained in SW through movies, shows and the EU and that is: they feel the need to show how every single aspect of everything happens, there is nothing left to the imagination. Young character X stories or this is how this part of the OT happened are very lazy storylines, considering you have an entire universe of stories and characters to visit. Related to that point, I hate the "everyone is related" trope. If Rey is Luke's daughter I'll be very disappointed. Why can't she just be some girl in some random planet? Why does the story have to revolve around the same characters ALL the time?

  • @NCMonefaith

    @NCMonefaith

    Di7manya because if Luke didn't have any kids that would be a huge slap in the face and the literal end of one of the most powerful force family users in star wars history. Personally I don't want her to be his daughter but if Luke has 0 children that's just a very bad move.

    Corey Lowe this is exactly why I dislike this fanbase, "if this guy is this or this woman is that Im gonna be pissed" tbh its not the story that I care about, they can have any story or any reveal or any twist, the presentation of the events, how they're acted, how its written, how its shot and edited and the use of music, showing restraint or taking risk with any of the aspects os what makes or breaks a movie because they give life to the story original or not, and for those reasons I enjoyed TFA because although not an "original story" they put a lot of effort into the presentation to make it stand out from the other movies in the saga

    I think Max' explanation when he has more time about issues with TFA makes more sense than his tweets just after the film was released. His problems with the film are better explained in more words than twitter allows you to. He did appear on a SJ show to explain himself but I think he worded things better on this episode. Landis is a great guest on SJ shows. Love his energy and true passion for film and the making of film.
