AFGreeneMachine the image of the bear on the dress makes me feel even more uncomfortable because I had a lot of baby and toddler clothes like that. Overalls with Pooh bear and a hunny pot patch on the side, or little corduroy jumpers with flower or bumblebee patches. Benefit of the doubt here: Jenny is a fully grown adult woman and it cuts off just above the knee. If a 10-13 year old was wearing it, the skirt would probably reach the knee at least or go even a bit below it. It's the open shoulders and neck part that's the issue.

According to my mum, my first halloween costume idea was to go as an upper case T. The fact she not only did *not* disown me but straight up bought a T-shirt, sewed a T onto it and didn't question it gives me so much respect for this woman. I picture a backroom where Jenny stores all her props, plushies, and costumes, and the whole thing is actually the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

To be honest, the scorpion king mask is 100% accurate to the cgi quality of the scorpion king scene at the end.

Like, spaghetti is slippery and would just slide right off one's shoulders, so the person feels like they're carrying a weight they need to fulfil when really it's something they just need to let go. You laugh, but Plo Koon was and still remains one of my favorite Prequel characters by design alone. And btw, the only reason this guy has a costume is because Dave Filoni is an insane fan of this guy who basically had a combined total of 10 minutes of screentime in the movies, so he made him a semi-important recurring character in the Clone Wars. Dave likes this guy so much, other writers have said they had to stop him from basically making him part of the main cast.

True story, After Ep 1 came out (I was 12 or 13) I got the visual encyclopedia from somewhere, cause I was a huge star wars head after the special editions. Plo Koon is a Jedi master on the Jedi council, and I actually thought he was the coolest one, character-design wise (I also remember that another Jesi master on the council of Yoda's species named "Yaddle" was noted in the encyclopedia as having a "youthful topknot")

Of all the things about this video? I'm happiest about admitting that it's mean to donate trash literally no one else wants even at full retail to a thrift shop. I used to work at a small charity thrift shop and so often people would bring something like a pee-stained mattress (when we had clear signage up about not accepting mattresses, ever, due to bedbug concerns - not even brand new in the plastic ones because if you take one the line blurs immediately) and say "can't you just GIVE it to someone who's too poor for a good one?" when I tried to refuse it because apparently that's what poor people deserve in these peoples' heads.

Agreed, I have to admit I have donated things (nothing as horrendous as something with human liquids attached) that no one would want. I'm sure in the back of my mind I thought it was good enough for them, though I would never have admitted that to myself let alone anyone else. I have since remedied to not do that anymore but I should have been aware earlier. That was a great point on her part for people who may not also be aware of how shit it is to do.

A football player kneels in peaceful protest and immediately that particular president and his followers reacted with brutal admonishment. He wasn't protesting the way THEY thought he should. The minute the peaceful protesting gained momentum, both in America and worldwide, right wing media invented the artificial boogeyman "Antifa," with which to fear monger amongst the gullible and uninformed. Every, single time people of color begin to make progress (Tulsa, Rosewood, etc.) whites, who are terrified of losing power, burn them out or utilize media to promote fear tactics to hijack their cause. Native Americans have been victimized since the first Caucasian explorers stepped on American soil. I find tragic irony in the way that Republicans are SO supportive of a white homeowner that shoots or otherwise kills an intruder, under the "Stand Your Ground" act. But when the Native Americans killed whites to protect THEIR home/land, they are called barbaric savages! Racism is alive and well, and is enjoying a sanctioned resurgence, thanks to the damage of the devastating Trump years. After everything was ripped away from indigenous people in this country (and so many others) including their dignity, OF COURSE it would be insulting and humiliating for someone with NO knowledge whatsoever of the history and culture of indigenous people, to throw on some costume with feathers and beading and party down, saying, "Look, I'm an Indian!" How could it NOT be? Anyone who can't comprehend that is either insensitive, existing in a complacent ignorance, or both.

If a girl showed up to a first date dressed in the spaghetti costume and relied on me to point it out I would be impressed. It's a hell of a power play.

Idk why this was recommended to me.. but I enjoyed the commentary. I feel like the spaghetti outfit had to be a situation where, like, the costume designer was under the gun to get out 10 new costumes before Halloween and they looked around the room and then down at their plate, shrugged and made a quick note

I really liked the artistic choice to have intros for some costumes while they're still in the package, and some hard cuts to you already in the next costume.

In my home town in Western Australia we have a little party shop that is still selling that exact Jake Sully costume for legit $100!! The movie came out 11 years ago. In a way I find it both amazing and completely tragic that they still have it after all this time and for such an absurd amount of money 😂

The only two Halloween costumes I remember wearing was a fictional queen (I was like, 12 and obsessed with dragons). And a custom costume of my Mary Sue demon hunter OC that dressed like a old detective, had a trench coat and everything

To be fair I dressed as Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way one year, and as cosmic penance I got hit by a car lol, so the Halloween afterwards I dressed as a plague doctor so I could bring my cane. Then we had an actual plague. What a decade we’re having, isn’t it?

I think the spaghetti costume would be cute if you had two dogs. Like you're dogs are Lady and Tramp and you're the table with the spaghetti on it for the classic kiss.

Honestly if the penguin costume was made of better material, was separate pieces and came with a petticoat it would be cute

I know I’m 5 years late to this. But Plo Koon is my favorite character.

I'm three years late, but the one note I will make about giving it to Goodwill: while it would be mean to basically want to assume that these horrible costumes are what's good enough for poor kids, it probably shouldn't be overlooked that thrifters and amateur film makers or costume designers regularly go to Goodwill to find shit like this. For those people, you essentially localized the availability of these costumes and probably slashed a couple dollars off the price they have to pay for it and it might be exactly what some random person is looking for... or at least good enough to cut up and modify.

So true. I've put together more than one Ren fest outfit using cannibalized pieces of clothing and accessories from thrift stores. With some sewing knowledge and/or a little creativity, you can make some surprisingly good costumes on the cheap.

Unfortunately, 60-70% of what's donated to thrift stores ends up getting thrown away anyway. It's great to find stuff like this at the thrift store when you can as a buyer, but if there are other sources to donate to (such as a local clothes closet charity or friends), or re-use it for yourself, that's a better step to prevent waste in the first place. Maybe not super relevant for these trashy costumes in particular, but worth keeping in mind in general. TL;DR Thrift stores are great, but maybe research other options to donate to first, if you can.

Yeah, a lot of these costumes are terrible all together but pretty solid as cheap separate parts. Like the teddy bear one could easily be turned into "Teddy Bear Princess" for a younger girl. And I have some ideas for turning the Scorpion King into an actual scorpion costume for a kid, like, the arachnid. (Also, I've seen people donate GOOD costumes to Goodwill ALL THE TIME, or selling them at garage sales for super cheap. So they're out there!)

Honestly, Jenny was kind-of working that vampire costume. The big sagging vest at the front looked bad, but that aside, like have it tightened up a bit so it stays on, keep the cool one-shoulder look, and you've got a not-bad kind-of sexy vampire outfit that doesn't go too far, but that's just my impression.

Honestly, the Yumi costume is pretty damn good for a store bought outfit, sans the headpiece. Toss it and do your own hair up and it'd probably pass for a decently made cosplay.

I would HAPPILY wear the spaghetti dress, and the flying purple people eater dress.

Plo Koon was legitimately my favorite Jedi growing up. I don’t think there was anything I actually liked about him, but he was my favorite

I love the spaghetti one. 😆 But I was a salt shaker one year as a kid, so there’s my taste.
