    Another option is MRP ramp control. I have fox 34 130mm, it came with 3 volume spacers. Having 100kg rider weight I needed high pressure to get the correct, but then with the spacers in I lost a lot of travel, spacers out I bottomed out. MRP ramp control gives me perfect travel and made the fork feel more matched to the shock which is a fox reactive with the through axle.

    DOT fluid absorbs water (moisture) from the air...so lasts longer once opened in arid climates. In the uk, good for 6-12months once opened if kept inside in the dry..fine for 2 x annual full fluid replacement. Squeeze as much air out the container before sealing

Agree adding volume spacers would help him from bottoming out but wouldn’t adding spacers actually limit travel of his fork even more?

    #askgmbntech Hey, I've just (re?)started mountain biking this summer on a nice 2nd hand s-works enduro 2014. My big objective this year, before I get 30, is to do the Megavalanche. Do you have suggestions about specific preps to do to the bike? Mainly, my roval carbon wheels seem to be problematic even on smooth terrain and I tend to bend / brake a lot of spokes. Is it a good idea to "downgrade" for recent, stronger aluminium wheels (I'm thinking Hope tech Fortus)? I hear that'd be better in chaotic rocky terrain, but I fear I'd lose a lot of the snappiness of the bike... Cheers

    #AskGMBNTech I recently got a 2019 Vitus Nucleus VRX that has come with a Suntour Raidon fork with 32mm stanchions and 120mm travel. I am interested in reducing the air volume. Could you tell me if I need to do this with spacers or oil? There is no information in the owners manual of either fork or the bike and I can't find any spacers on Suntour's website or any other bike shops that fit my fork (the only ones I find are for shocks or forks with 34mm-36mm stanchions). If I need to do this with oil, could you tell me which oil as I can't find any information on this either? Love the show, thanks in advance!

    #AskGMBNTech My front derailleur cable breaks every 6 months of use while the back one stays intact. My transmission is a 3x8. I use it for commuting and I downshift both derailleurs on every traffic light. Can I use a road brake cable to improve reliability? I would have to saw the thick part of the end of the cable and change the housings to break ones. I know that it is not recommended because of the reduced precision, buy I imagine that only applies to the rear derailleur as the front one moves a lot more cable per shift.

    @@rupedog Thanks for the ideas. I will change cable and housing, but that isn't the problem as it break's on the mech clamp. In regards to the 3mm, I definitely have less space, the mech is for a 20 teeth gap and there is a 22 teeth gap between my chainrings therefore, I have it as low as I can without any rubbing, maybe 1mm spacing. Are you sure that can be the problem since I had the same problem on my old 18 teeth gap chainrings? Have you tried using brake cables for shifters?

    if it has coil or air does not play a role in the geometry, but this question has been answered many times already, but it will raise the BB, it will shorten the reach, slacken the seat angle, so you need to move the saddle forward and change angle slightly, make the head angle slacker. it might work ok or decent or it might be horrible, it depends on the geometry of the bike.

    5:27 It's great I love it, for me it was the only solution, cus there are no mechanical shifters that would fit me on the market, and shifting a mechanical shifter fatigues my thumb, especially with clutch on Rear derailleur, but the extreme throw a mechanical shifter like Shimano XTR M9000 has is way too much, also I have issues with my thumb popping out of place, it can happen while shifting resulting in pain. The buttons are easy to press, no pain or fatigue even when my thumb pops out place I can still shift, without any pain. Don't buy the old version even if you get a good deal on it, cus it won't handle water spray, washing bike, puddles, but the Archer D1X Trail does handle it. so far no problems with puddles, rain, washing bike. here is a pic of Archer D1X Trail mounted on my Geometron G1: flic.kr/p/2i1BmMK As long as you have the P straps tight(named after Paul The Punter), it will be secure, especially with some rubber or tape at the area. you will still be able to move it, for easier wheel removal or removing batteries I flip the stifter up, for battery removal Archer recommends to a magnet, I use a magnet side of a Park Tool pick. The reason the batteries are tricky to remove and get stuck is due to waterproofing, I got this info from them via Dm on instagram.

    Absolutely ESSENTIAL. Shimano use mineral fluid, sram use DOT. Even if u flush the hoses its not worth risking ruining new brakes for some hose (which ur new brakes come with surely? Easy bleed free fit?)

  • @mtbboy1993

    @mtbboy1993

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Jabba1625 I haven't had reliable Shimano brakes yet, so far only one set that did not leak out of pistons or elsewhere. I currently use TRP Spyke mechanical dual piston disk brakes, they aren't perfect, the ML800 levers are bit flimsy, but adjustment dons't go out of adjustment the screw stays in place, cus it's in the lever not the lever body so flex won't loosen it, the caliper works great but barrel adjuster is weak, but other than that great, and now as my fingers are stronger fatigue is not a problem, the return spring in the caliper is quite stiff, so it will be a firmer feel than hydraulics. Much better solution for me than having to deal with long warranty process, and running out of brakes cus all leaked, done it once done it halfway twice, so I am done with Shimano brakes. So If I try hydraulic brakes again it will be something high end, that I can get spare parts, and have a stock of spare parts, to fix something if I need to, I haven't tried Magura or Trick stuff, Trick stuff Maxima is the most expensive brake on the market. I know Trick stuff sells spare parts, and repairs, services brakes even 10 years old.

    Hey mate, I think you're going to need Boost hub spacing to fit a 12spd cassette. Also, you'll need the correct style of free hub for a 12spd drive train, for the brand you want to use... Do some research on the hub spacing. I'm pretty sure you need Boost and I doubt any 26" bike has Boost spacing.
