That was my goal too when I started... and I kept it at that level for about 2 minutes LOL! I ramped up really quickly when I started. Make sure to make a budget and not over purchase, it's very common to do that in the stacking community. You don't want to have to sell because you run out of cash.

You've done well, I'm now below 300oz, having switched out to gold, 2.5 - 1 silver to gold ratio.

i have 4525 ounces of silver, no gold, been building my wealth since 2020 when i woke up. i have 100 ounce bars, kilos, 10, 5, and 1 ounce bars gram bars, 1 ounce rounds, fractional rounds. i'm still buying, i sold all my gold and bought silver, the silver gold ratio was about 10 to 1 in 1913, now its 77 to 1, i worked a 40 hour week in a factory making 24 bucks an hour. recently retired. cashed out 401k and IRA and bought silver, only keep enuff cash in bank to pay bills, the rest goes to silver. the dollar is in its last days, its man made, and man has corrupted it, gold and silver are god made and will last forever.

Smart! Smart! Smart!!! I did the same thing but in 2005 and after the housing crisis I paid cash for our new home in 2011 for less then half what it cost the bank to build it for in 2005! I'm holding my silver until the ratio gets to less then 30/1 then I'll exchange 30% for gold and hold the rest until it gets to less than 20/1 then I'll exchange another 50-60% and hold there. Congratulations! Not many people come to understand what and why silver! You're one of the lucky few!

So you’re paying $30 an ounce today for Shitver?? You do know, that not a LCS, pawnshop, or jeweler in the US will give you more than $18-$20 an ounce when you try to sell it. Then don’t want to buy back more than 5 or 10 ounces at a time . That there are some genius type stuff. 🤪 😂😂😂

Very nice, Gary. Stacked silver since 2010, then met my goal in 2019. 6088 ozs. here. Started stacking gold in 2013. My 1st gold buy was 5 1-oz. Maples for just over $5900. Sure would like to see that price again but probably won't. Just have to deal with what comes. I expected rising gold prices and falling amounts purchased, so it's on track.

5000 ounces equals a contract. 5000 ounces squeezes quite nicely into a 20 X 20 X 24 safe also.

Central Illinois here The coin shop owners tell me they have to buy 5,000 at a time for silver, and 2 of the 3 shops , can not afford it. Therefore I only have now one shop to buy it. Silver and gold difficult to locate to buy it .

I have family in Southern Illinois. I bet they do need to make big purchases form the whole sale dealer. Are they small shops? Cause most shops I've been to they do have a great stock of silver. And most actually get alot of the inventory from private sellers selling to the coin stores. Of the 2 coin stores I go into they say more people are buying lately instead of selling to the stores. @@beebob1279 you want silver right now anyway. Keep an eye on the gold:silver ratio. When you see it hit 1:60 ish, trade it for gold. When it hits 1:80, trade it back for silver. I’ve been doing it for a while and it’s grown my stack a lot without needing to put fiat into it. Whenever you’re buying, always check the ratio first. If it’s closer to 1:80, buy silver. If it’s closer to 1:60, buy gold.

I do appreciate you doing these videos to help keep us in the knowledge for stacking silver and gold.

im in my 50 s never made much money and had a large family . wife stayed home to raise kids . i started staking about 15 yrs ago now im in the 1 percent . feels good .a lot of it came from side jobs sometimes i could take a portion of the extra money and by silver .

I have been trying to reduce my stack down to around 10,000 ounces. I have been stacking for 58 years. problem is I do only auctions anymore and I keep finding deals way below melt! last week on a high bid auction I won Mercury and barber dimes for $1.80 each, 20 balboa's for $80 and even one ounce rounds for $27.50 each. in the one group of rounds was half ASE's!! this auction had no buyers premium and was close so I could pick them up. I do not hear much about auctions from youtubers and trust me you guys who do not do auctions are missing the boat!!! Jim

They charge alot of money on the items and the percentage they charge onto of the winning bid isn't profitable. I wish I could find a good auction place! Do you check them before you bid on them? I have seen videos of people who bought stuff on ebay that is fake but so good it takes a professional to distinguish the difference. If you don't inspect & verify first how do you know those pieces at auction didn't come from ebay?

New sub here, great video. I've never really thought about how many oz would put you in each tier but its pretty interesting! I recently sold and even traded about 500 oz of silver to add more gold to my stack. To me, I think owning 1000 oz of silver is more than enough. At some point, you'll want to transitioning into gold.... that number will be different for everyone though. Happy stacking! 👊

The reason ppl in poorer countries cant stack much is their currency has already collapsed. No purchasing power. Cant buy food much less silver. Argentina, Venezuela, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, etc....one hyperinflation starts , you better have your stack from before bc the paper wont buy anything

NJ taxes suck, and I found out on a 1 Oz bar of gold. Was a shocking amount of tax. I didn't realize until I had already bought it. Lessen learned and learned if you have a friend in PA. You can ship it there, tax-free.

you're doing it wrong. a local coin shop would sell you a 1 oz gold bar or coin with no sales tax.

👍 and 👍. I'm a 1% top stacker. Interestingly a 1960s USA yearly income was $5600, or 186 ounces of silver. Of course, silver was $1.30/oz so todays match is $130,000 or 4,350 oz.

I'm a 3rd generation stacker, and I've been stacking since 2003 ish on and off when I could.. Not going to say how much I have, but it's more than my fair share... My biggest concern is that I don't have enough %90 silver and have no rounds, which I plan to start rectifying as of the summer... Going to go for Avg circular type but also going to get some BU / AU / XF... In silver dollars, half dollars and dimes... Just to add to the collection and the avg maybe for the normal stack... luckily for me I'm here in Washington State, and no tax on anything unless, it's over that threshold of 10k or if it has colors or antique on the metal.... Nothing like stacking as a family tradition! I like the 90% silver coins and about 1/3 of my stack is in them. Also have some 5-oz. bars as trading material but the bulk of my stack is in Maples and ASEs. Didn't want it to get too complex since most (all?) of this will be inherited by my kids and grand kids and selling a lot of similar coins is usually easier than having 57 different varieties. When I was stacking the Maples and ASEs heavily, premiums were $2-$2.50 per coin and the prices were $14-$15 each, so not bad, especially when compared to recent prices. Inflation is a bummer and is hitting just about everything, including PMs and their premiums.

Well said my friend. To those who are nowhere near 505 ounces, do not despair. Look at it this way, People will FOMO into Silver as the confidence in the dollar starts to drop. Big money will move into Gold, which will put prices out of most people's range, hence pushing the FOMO sufferers into Silver. That will make Silver go to heights we have not seen ever. So my point is, if you had bought 10 bitcoins at $300 years ago, would they be of use today? Heck yeah they would!!! Well, I'm not saying Silver will be $70K, I;m saying it's going to go much higher than we expect. So even owning 30, 50 ounces could be a huge payoff in the near future. Stack Baby Stack!!! Cheers

wow love the comparison and I 100% agree with your statement and I am proof of it in both metals and crypto. I bought silver at between 7-13 dollars an ounce whenever I could and saw the gains so I bought more. This was before stacking was a thing on YT. I bought BTC at that range but won't tell you how much. Still both metals and crypto are life changing purchases for retirement and future needs.

My state, Maine charges sales tax so I avoid sales tax and use the savings to pay for vault storage out of state. Also makes it easier to by and sell, not to mention more secure. I had 2 coin collections stolen from my homes over the years.

Interesting, I know i read somewhere that most people in the United States dont own any precious metals at all. Even the people with the means to. I wonder what percentage of stackers collecte gold and how much?

Alot of people here in the USA don't stack. A little over 11 percent do. But some of them stack heavily!

Very difficult to stack in U.K. due to premiums & 20% V.A.T or sales tax on silver bullion.I buy mostly at auction which limits pure silver purchases and forces you to buy sterling silver at or below spot price if available.Also limited to silver coins of the Realm to minimise Capital Gains Tax when eventually selling.Ive been hoarding for 20yrs and have recently tidied my hoard into mostly bar form.Guess I’m a whale 150 or near 5000.

I'm in the UK so got higher premiums plus 20% VAT to deal with. Despite the recent spikes none of my silver is close to turning profit against spot where as when it comes to the gold even my 1g bars are in profit against spot. So i'm more into gold, i have a good mix of denominations but mainly go for 1/4 Britannia's and 22ct sovereigns. For silver i've got maybe 60 oz bullion and the same again in sterling/50%, i'd like to push that to 100oz each while staying focused on the gold.

Those numbers seem extremely low to me. I can literally be a one percent stacker in one buy. Although there was a time when that seemed like a huge amount. I guess a lot of it is perspective. I guess I have to feel fortunate. Started stacking in 09 stopped in 19 the last day. I have acquired 1000 ozs.getting cancer sucks .I sure miss the fun .stay away from my mistakes. Peace dollars, Morgan dollars, commeratives and so forth. Have fun😊.

Long time stacker, since 1978. Not jus silver and gold, i hoard commodities, i think bartreable... My advice is by retirement, 10k ounces of Ag...100 of Au, is what goal should be. I met my goal by 1998. still been buyin sellin trading Ag Au and Pt, add US numis, and US 90 %. 1980s thru Still.. ALL should consider survival items too, AMMO to WATER... All grab YOUR daily situational awareness. Top 1%er here.. Teach ur children, & granchildren well on finances to Creeds needed to be self sufficient !!!❤

Here in Massachusetts if we buy $1,000 or more worth of gold and/or silver there is no sales tax. So at .0625%, when im patient, i can realize an additional 2oz...which is nice

I feel safe and prepared for any circumstance. That will be all my stacking this year... Need to buy some farm land to earn from crops....

Wow... I just did an inventory of my silver horde, because I hadn't been keeping track of what I was stacking. I would just buy a little silver here and a little silver there, whenever I had a bit of extra scratch after paying bills. Let's just say I'm in the 1%...

Great job you must be a heavy stacker! You're probably in the areas where they stack at 11 percent.

Here goes, i got the bug, 2500 oz. Seems great until you need to relocate. Thats 5 monster boxes, assuming they are still sealed . That's the equivalent of a fully stacked very heavy sack trolly. My advice, if you like silver because it is indeed a beautiful metal, buy the pieces that will be pleasing to the eye. If you cant get 200oz for examples that appeal, then keep going. Otherwise buy 1/4oz fractional gold. Nice to know im still just in the top 5% though.

Does the calculations include paper silver or just physical? Since the paper:physical ratio is like 400:1 now...would massively change up the numbers in each case...🤔

paper is paper, its not silver. take your paper and try to cash it for real silver, its impossible to do for the average person. paper is worth paper money. if you are buying paper silver then you are not preserving you wealth.

At about 1000 now, slowly adding. A tiny amount of gold. My first gold purchase was a 1/10th of an ounce, and the "coin" is so tiny ill never take it out of the case it came in or ill lose it. It's smaller than a US dime.

@@lindaempleo3137 Easy enough to google that. A 1/4 oz. AGE is about the size of a nickel and the 1/2 oz. is about the size of a quarter.

I’m not a stacker per say I am more of a coin collector and while checking my collection, I found that I have become a stacker without my knowledge. How did I become a stacker and not even know it? Like I said, I am a coin collector and I have a rather large amount of ASE ( American Silver Eagles). So I got a few ASE albums and filled up 3 of them and still had quite a bit, just sitting loose, so I decided that maybe I should change my direction and deviate from collecting . So I decided to start buying MS 69&70 ( ASE) The only way that I collect MS 69 is for the older years because the MS 70 gets to be quite expensive when the dates get earlier , say from 2017 , and earlier. I’ll buy a MS 70 with the date of 2011-2018 if the price is not too high and I have the money to buy it for less then $160 give or take. So, yeah, if I can afford it I will buy multiple ASE’s of the older ones. So after checking my collection, like I said I found that I have enough different types of silver, and saw that I have enough to be taken as a stacker

I live in Canada. Have to pay taxes only if it’s not pure which is a bummer cause it never used to be that way and I used to stack a lot of Canadian junk silver which is 80%

That bar on the bottom left that can be split into fractional.. Be careful with that one, there were a LOT of counterfeits made with that exact design. Take it out of the case, weigh and measure it. That looks like a Stagecoach silver bar, and there are a TON of fake ones out there. I think the fakes were silver plated brass if I remember correctly.

@JohnD-JohnD if you cab find a LCS and ask to look at the rounds bin. They sometimes have other coins other then rounds and at a good price. You never know what you'll find. It makes it fun to look through it.

I have a little over 1000 ozs..half in 100 Oz bars and half in rounds

Sounds good, David. I considered my silver stacking goal to be around 6k ozs., which was met in 2019. Only buying silver now when it is something I really like and at a good price. Needless to say, such opportunities are pretty rare these days. I sometimes make some buys from a very good friend of mine who gets bulk Morgans from his LCS connection. He lets me dig through his Morgans and pick out the best of them to buy from him. All were at least AU class coins, even the 1921s. I much prefer the 1880s-1890s Morgans but these 1921s were near BU quality, so I got several of them anyway. I also like the 1964 Kennedy halves. I bought 4-5 $100 face bags of them from Apmex. I don't usually buy from them but they do have some really nice BU grade US 90% silver coins, so they are a good source for them. Also got a couple of dozen rolls of proof early 2000s quarters, which at the time were selling for less than the circulated Washington quarters. What a buy that was!

I have a LOT of sterling silver. Much weight, little demand.

@@SuperiorStacker a lot of Franklin Mint coins and medals. With that stuff, you’re lucky to get half of spot from smelters. Nothing is more hated than sterling. Glad I’ve got eagles and maple leafs too.

Hot take, how many ounces would it take to be in the top 1% IF the metric was ONLY developed countries, which eliminates a huge percentage of the population? My guess is it would be more like 1,500 ounces.
