Best part is we would still have mandatory 1 hour unpaid lunches, and damn did you get your ass chewed if you took 61 minutes ... After I got medically discharged from the army, I tried going out into the workforce to earn some extra money. I got called in to interview at a big brand car dealership, for a position as IT support. It fit perfectly, it worked around my injuries and my PTSD and they said I could make my own schedule. When I get there, he tells me they're full up on IT and ALL computer related jobs, so he wanted to try me out as a photographer. I told him I have no experience as a photographer, especially not a professional one, and he said they'd show me what I needed to know. Lo' and behold, they gave me a janky ass old camera, put me with this young woman who was doing the same job as me, and told me she'd be training me. She showed me the ropes and taught me how, after driving new cars through the car wash, I should photograph them, then drive them to the nearby gas station and fill the gas tank up to a certain point if it was below that. Over the next few weeks I'm doing exactly what she said, and even though my injuries are killing me, I'm doing a damn good job. I'm knocking out everything I was told to do and I quickly got into a rhythm. One day I'm driving a car to the gas station to fill it up, and my phone rings. Manager tells me to get back to the dealership immediately. I get back there and I get "Where were you?!". I explain how I was filling the gas tank up and he tells me that's not my job, just take photos, and only drive the car through the car wash if it's "needed" (I don't know why I would do it if it wasn't needed but okay logic). So every day, my numbers are going up. I'm taking more and more photos and uploading them. 22, then 25, then 27, eventually I'm photographing like close to 40 cars a day. The day before my 3 months "grace period" was up, I got a phone call from the senior manager, and he fired me. He said I wasn't doing enough photos per day and I had been "talked to about this before" (in reality that's true, they did tell me I needed to do more cars per day, and I thought my numbers going up every day was a good thing). They also did NOT work around my army injuries. Sitting down to rest my knee was a no-no, even for 5 minutes. They also did NOT let me make my own schedule, other than letting me choose which days I want to work, but even that didn't always fly. One of the guys who was a junior manager was just the worst. I don't know why, but the fact that the senior manager was in the air force prior to this job, and the fact that I (who was under both of them) was in the army, and we had a bond, really got to him. He would look for any opportunity to push me around in little ways. Whenever I would question his logic, or tell him not speak to me that way again, he'd back off and try to play it off like he was just making sure I'm learning things around here. The day I was fired was my day off. What they didn't realize was, I still had the key on me that unlocked the lockbox with all the car keys for the entire lot in it. They also owed me some money regarding this weird incentive deal they made with me, where I'd get 25 cents for every new car that was sold via the pictures I had put on the website. They owed me like 30 dollars or a little more, and when they called me to tell me I needed to bring that key back in immediately, I asked for my money. They said they didn't have it. I told them "well it's an hour drive to get to your dealership. If I drive that distance I won't have the gas to get home, so I'll bring the key back when you guys call and tell me you have my money for me." When I eventually did go back to get my money and drop off the key, that junior manager stayed a good 40 meters away from me and didn't say a word. He sent one of the lower employees who I was friends with over to talk with me. I bet that squirrely little bitch is a big shot by now. There was a lot more weird/sketchy shit that went on there, but I'm not going to type all that up since nobody will ever read this probably.

When I started as a cashier for wal mart, I had just finished up the computer training and it was my first morning on the register with a trainer. I'd managed to mess up setting my alarm and by the time I got to work, I was an hour late. When I finally came running up to my trainer, she asked me, "Are you my trainee?" When I said yes she said, "I've been looking all over for you, you're an hour late." When I explained that I'd missed my alarm and came as quick as I could she said, "Well then, you must have skipped breakfast if you were in such a hurry. I'll buy you a donut from the bakery" I was caught completely off guard. I was expecting to get myself an extra hole torn into me, and instead I got free food. That lady was great and we'd chat everytime I got an opportunity once training was done. I finally got sick of being a cashier and decided to quit after I had to skip my favorite holiday to work because my time off request was denied. I probably could have managed to stay a bit longer, but I was bummed out after seeing my request was rejected and, as I was walking up to the front to start work, I overheard my 600 pound 5 foot tall manager talking with her friends about denying a time off request because the person hadn't been going above and beyond and instead had just been doing a decent job. When they saw me walking up, they all dispersed. I don't know for a fact they were talking about me, but managers shouldn't be discussing time off requests with regular floor people, Its very inappropriate. I probably could have complained to a different manager, but I was feeling pretty fed up with that job anyway, so I quit after that. Now I'm a flat bed trucker and I make in a day what I used to make in a week at Wally World, so things turned out for the better.

Currently working at Walmart, and so far I've learned that it doesn't really matter how much you bust your ass. You could skip your breaks, take a half hour lunch, solo your department going light-speed on processing, capping, zoning and filling the sales floor, and the managers will do their turtle speed walkthrough in your area and nitpick about why a certain spot is empty and you have to tell them it's on recall. They genuinely don't care about you. They are never satisfied with your performance. The harder you work, the more they expect you to do. Then if you don't meet their expectations, you're threatened with coaching. /rant

Then they have that attitude of superiority towards you and try to tell you how to do your job when they can't even do their own. I absolutely loved when my store manager was freaking out trying to mix paint for a customer, but she didn't even know how. Like, you're going to tell me that you're a store manager that makes roughly $85,000 a year and you can't even mix a simple gallon of paint? It should be a requirement for all store managers to know how to do EVERY position in the store. Just goes to show that you definitely shouldn't be in the position you're in. The amount of bullshit you put up with in that place in fact does make my blood boil. I have certain memories engraved in my brain to what was said and done to me and I hope the absolute worst for these people.

@@ker_bear I believe you this black man named Wesley fired me when I worked at Walmart I wasn't there long I got hired doing the winter break like around November's they were needing people for seasonal but if you did good doing your seasonal time then they could hire you full-time so I was hired part-time and we had just got on the job and they were acting like we should know how to do everything bus down boxes stop items properly what they needed to go mind you the only job I had before that was working for TDCJ in process that I was a CNA and then I was also a flagger for text.. I was young as hell I didn't have any work experiences and I was in my sophomore year of college. I just think it was so trashy the way they was treating people and it's like I know good and damn well when y'all start at this company y'all had to learn what to do. And I just think that good managers are hard to come by because everybody that becomes manager has a lot of people has something to prove and they want to have a power trip and it's just disgusting. Walmart is definitely problematic and it's sad that I just found out these people are billionaires yet it was only a couple years ago to where they gave people medical benefits AKA insurance and also a retirement plan they literally pay people minimum wage making billions

Took awhile and telling them to fuck off a few times but towards the end they got the message. They stopped asking because I wasn't a push over. Never saw my head managers majority of the time, had the best team manager though, she really was really pleased with the the receiving team. But the upper managers who never saw us.. treated us like garbage. Failed most of us on our evaluation because we dont talk to other teams and help customers. How in the actual f*ck am I suppose to help a customer find a sweater on the floor when I'm in the back breathing in dust and carrying out air fryers? Someone tell me? And then I even got a lower score on my eval because when she asked me " what else do you do around here besides work in the dock ( my actual f*ckin job)?" Full clean up. I went from cart pusher to Assistant Manager. I was one of those mangers that was just there for a paycheck. I didn't care if my employees were cussing, no in dress code or anything. All long as the job was getting done I could care less

That must have been entertaining to watch corporate clean house. Never seen a manager held responsible for anything, and I've seen some questionable shit like a manager breaking an employees ankle by running into her with a pallet while using an electric pallet jack. First thing he did was check the cameras to make sure it wasn't caught on camera. Second thing was blame her for "getting in his way"

If you ever get a manager that cares about time management on your breaks, just make sure to clock out at exactly the time you finish. Why? Because under contract usually, they can't actually keep you past that time. That's your decision. Depends on the contract. But just clock out exactly the time you're supposed to finish. If asked why you're leaving early, say you're not, you're just finishing on time.

If under 18 you can do it since you basically get probation. Over 18 you get a felony since the company will have their retired law enforcement officer get you arrested, no job, forced restitution, and they know your name/address. I wish you could do it but nobody is dumb enough to do it. Every fortune 500 company has those retired law enforcement officers.
