You can actually calculate how much the collector tokens will save you over the course of progression. Right now you're guaranteed 100 tokens per 4 reserves too so every 10 cards opened functionally gives another series 3 card which shortens the clock by 3 days for every 10 cards pulled if you spend all your collector tokens on series 3 cards. It functionally negates the extra time added from pulling the series 4 card. Awesome video BTW. I tried doing this math myself and came up with similar numbers to you so I'm glad I did my math right. They also mentioned that they weren't happy with how the token shop is working for players who haven't completed series 3 and are planning to adjust that so that could speed things up as well whenever it happens

The fun bit for me is finally getting to be able to open cards from series 3, but getting absolutely stomped on in the process because I don’t have any of the good ones yet, game went from a must play everyday to disheartening in moments. Great vid though

You are correct in stating that it's disheartening. I started playing a few weeks after the launch of the game and the game feels super grindy even though I am unlocking cards every week. I think they missed the mark with the token system a bit. Instead of making the token system a way of picking up fun cards, it's turned into a system of hoarding tokens to get unobtainable cards. Since the Series 3 card pool keeps growing, players that weren't beta testers will never see the "fun/cool cards" that require 6k tokens if they want to be efficient.

6 months is absolutely insane. I wish I'd seen this video before I started . I'm 4 months in and still can't build a single deck that interests me (since they nerfed wave decks).

good breakdown. I was getting a bit frustrated, as i only pulled 3 new cards between 1000-1200, but i guess thats expected based on the math. Def going to think twice before spending more money on the game now.

Interesting video ! Indeed I think you should buy the series 3 cards with tokens when you are at the beginning or half of the pool 3. But, in my opinion, if you're getting close to complete Pool 3 collection, I think it's better to save tokens for the series 4 or 5 cards.

I just open booster to get boosters for cards I do not want to play. So if I want to get the 5 booster to upgrade common BlackBolt, I'll open boosters till I get it.

I did exactly this as soon as the tokens released. Just get that Series 3 complete as soon as possible. I just bought She-Hulk and snagged Luke Cage in a CR at CL 3000. Now I can just collect a decent amount of tokens through February and make some decisions when cards go down at the end of the month.

I got shehulk recently! Been playing in a fun deck I made Limbo turn 5, pass turn 6, then plop down she hulk and infinaut the same turn. If you're lucky and have moon girl in there and draw a god hand, you can copy she hulk for a 40+ power turn 7

Also, doesn’t the first upgrade count for something? The first 25 credits you spend when you first upgrade a card is half the rate of 50 credits per CL from the second time onwards. Keeping that in mind, the more new cards, splits, or variants you get, the more time you should save, right?

Great breakdown of the length of unlocking Series 3 cards. In all honesty, the current system takes way too long, and as a result, the excitement/hype for new cards gets completely destroyed by this grindy mechanic. I hope Second Dinner fixes it soon because Ben Brode told me they had no plans in the immediate future.

I havent dug into actually doing that but you feel good about that many collection levels per day? Im trying to get my head wrapped around that part of it. Great breakdown and video, count me as a sub. I completed series 3 at collection level 2782 last card being Viper. I purchased the apocalypse bundle $50 cash the rest in hoarded gold. I purchased the sunspot bundle to help my progress. The collectors tokens I used to get series 3 cards I was missing and wanted. I was able to save gold to get the Devil Dino package. I saved the credits until January 31st to become series 3 complete again by unlocking absorbing man, she hulk and cage. I already had unlocked Titania. I got Agent Coulson, Helicarrier and Attuma along the way.

Not exactly so. While I would recommend to get several series-3 cards at the start, it's much better to save your tokens for the perpetual series-5 cards that you will never get, such as Thanos and Galactus.

It seems like it depends on whether you are just concerned with getting series 3 done as quickly as possible or using your resources as efficiently as possible. Using tokens on series 3 cards will get you the former, but it is technically a net loss of 600 tokens with every purchase (considering that the first "card pull" after finishing series 3 on average gets you 400 tokens). So if you want to finish series 3 ASAP, then yes use tokens on Series 3 cards, but if you don't mind being patient and finishing Series 3 through just reserves you will actually save tokens in the long term.

It took me until 3466 and I got my last card a few days ago. The most frustrating part for me was getting stuff like the winter variants and then the normal card a few caches later. I started playing during the Black Panther set. I have spent some money, maybe not whale money but kind of fat dolphin money.

Have you checked if these base cards you got after getting the winter variants were count as a new card or variant? Maybe the pity counter was going to give you a variant then you got the base card, does it make sense?

I inclined to think that if you have the variant and not the base, pity timer thinks this is not a new card and you will get the base as it would be a variant.

Even if you managed to get a variant of a pool 3 card, you still need to get the base card of it in the collection track to be pool 3 complete. So for example. everyone who has the free signature variant of Nick Fury from the holidays still needs to get the base card in pool 3 if they didnt have it already.

I read someones comment yesterday they were around 2500 cl and only needed 3 cards to finish and I'm at 3000 and only have 83 % of pool 3 go 6 caches between regularly before a new card. only started just after launch.

ive been playing since the black panther season pass, i think week 1 or two of that pass. i play every day and I do all of my dailies, and I'm still only at collection level 2.222, and I'm missing 17 pool 3 cards and the only card higher then 3 i have is agent Coulson at pool 4. been playing daily for over 2 months and I'm almost there. but also i only get a new card about once 1 week if I'm lucky. on average i get variants and new titles

I just finished series 3 at 3170, been playing since launch. I feel that it was quicker getting cards before they added the token system

@@leandro8936 I'm not trying to call you out or anything but I've seen multiple breakdowns on the monetization and account progression and I feel like this statement is mathematically misleading. The game's only been out for a few months and if you're a completely free to play player it would take you about 5.3 months to be collection complete like stated in the video. Depending on luck you can finish your series 3 cards anywhere between 2,700 and 3,550. The only way that what you said would make sense is if you've been spending the gold you've earned to reroll missions to get credits to progress faster or if you use your gold to buy credits or bundles.

I'm FTP and have not used any gold yet on any token or credit generation. I am ahead of your estimates in Series 3, and I have two guesses. 1st, season pass awards some stuff to FTP and it is hard to estimate how many of the 50+ season caches (all free) a player will get. You get like 25 season points per match so if someone is grinding a lot they'll get more season boxes and more credits from them. 2nd, and bigger reason. I think you may be overlooking that CL boxes will sometimes award a decent amount of credits. Which of course speeds up the progress in getting to that magic 3550 CL mark. I'd say I'm on pace to finish Series 3 in 5 months without using any Gold to assist the process. Still a very good video! Edit: For clarity

Yeah it’s hard to put those extra progression into the equation cause not every player will do those season caches. Also the extra credits in the collection track definitely do help but hard to adjust the math on that so it’s just extra bonus. Almost every player will complete it faster than I’ve mention but it’s a generally consensus for ever the bare minimum type of player.

Yes, Variants are "filler" which are included when he said "Titles and Avatars." When opening a Collector Reserve, you cannot acquire a Variant from a card you don't own. Only variants for cards you own. That being said, each Variant gives you 1 more "tick" on that common cost upgrade of 25 credits for 1 collection level.

With F2P it's at least 10 Series 3 cards + 1 S-4 card every 4 weeks. And that's not including using free gold or tokens for additional credits. From my calculation every 4 weeks you can get roughly 530CL. From CL486 - 1006 you will get 28 cards (27 S-3, 1 S-4) and can be completed in 4 weeks, remaining S-3 cards are 54 cards. From CL1006 beyond, it will take at least 21.6 weeks to get the rest. So about 25.6 weeks and it tracks with your calculation of about 6.4 months. Additional cards into S-3 should be about 1 new cards per week. So depending on where you are at the collection level, there might be up to 25 new cards dropping into S-3. by the time you get current 81 cards. Which might extend S-3 collection time by up to 10 weeks or so.

for me only series 3 took me about 2 months just completed it the beginning of Fed... collection lvl 2900. This is ofc with purchases of the season pass and nothing else but investing the gold you get from all sources except from $$

I just finished series 3, opened up 14 collection reserves without even a Varient, gotta say it really just becomes about the game at this point, I do have almost enough for a series 4 card though, will wait for darkhawk

I finally finished my pool 3 with 7 months in the game so happy right now

I’m in the small camp that believes it’s better to use tokens on Thanos and Galactus rather than S3 cards. You get one new S3 every 48 CL. At 16 CL a day, it’s 3 days per card. So if you spend 6k tokens on six S3 cards, you save 18 days. So if you’d finish S3 on March 31st, you’d finished instead on like March 13th. But how long does it take you to earn 6k tokens? You average 500 per 48 CL. It will take 12 of those to get 6000 tokens. At 3 days per 48, that’s 36 days to save back up 6000 tokens. That means if you were S3 complete on March 13th, you wouldn’t get Thanos until April 18th. If you just bought Thanos or Galactus to begin with, you’d be S3 complete and have one of those by March 31st.

It's a preference question, do you want to play with your choice of strong cards now? Or do you have a series 5 card you want to buy? Or do you want to optimize your long-term progress toward a series-4-complete, or 100% all cards, collection? (all cards may be unachievable for an f2p, due to the rate of new cards in series 5) In the latter case, you want to maximize how many series-3 cards you open from caches -- that gives the cache an effective 1000 token value, rather than the 400 tokens you'll receive after finishing series 3.

For Collector Token efficiency, do not buy any Series 3 cards and only get Series 5 cards with Collector Tokens. The reason being is there is an opportunity cost of 600 Collector Tokens each time a Series 3 card is bought. It takes slightly less than 4 days to get 600 tokens once Series 3 complete. The net loss is being a day behind to get a Series 4/5 card later on each time a Series 3 card is bought with tokens. Buying a Series 5 card is providing early access to that card for 3-4 months based upon the current downgrading model before they ultimately become free aka in Series 3. Without getting Collector token bundles, only one Series 5 card can be purchased during the Series 3 incomplete phase as F2P accrue 1000+ tokens a month. Similar to the goblet selecting scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, make sure you choose wisely on which Series 5 card you get. If you choose unwisely, there will be buyers' remorse, but if you choose wisely then months of fruitful success is your reward. Days of Future Present You, who didn't spend tokens for any Series 3 cards is going to thank Days of Future Past You for allowing them to get their Series 5 card that much sooner. However, they likely had to struggle sloughing through seasons where they were Series 3 incomplete using subpar decks as RNG did not provide cards in the right order to make optimal decks. This version of you did pony up the tokens for one Series 5 card (at the time) that hopefully was OP and helped alleviate the pain during that trying period.

So, I started playing at the end of Zabu season. I just completed the pool today. CL 4300. I bought about 4-5 cards with 1k tokens back in the old shop or pinning in the drop day. It may seens a while but I have 11/16 pool 5 cards and 7/14 pool 4 cards. The only thing I spent on the game (and my bloody time) was the Captain intro pack. I would never guess it will take this long, doing all the missions every day.

I'd be interested in the math when you get the battle pass each month. I'll take a look at the numbers to see how many credits and tokens you get from a battle pass.

I'm at collector level 3324, and I'm down to one series 3 card needed to complete the set, which is Dr. Doom. I currently have that card pinned in the shop, but with only 200 collector tokens, I expect to pull it before I get enough tokens to buy it. I have purchased 2 season passes but have spent no other money on the game, and I have converted all my gold into credit to climb the collection ladder and Ive been playing the game since the end of the black panther season, which is just over 3 months.

Kinda disappointing. Doom is much more useful in the decks I like to play. Now, if I can get Shuri and Knull, I'll have all the current cards I want that I think are attainable (ie not Galactus or Thanos).

how do you check how many cards your lacking?

I started playing marvel snap on November 1st, got my first series 3 card on November 21st. I'm free to play and I bought the sunspot bundle with the gold I accumulated. After 3 months and a week I'm CL 2434, I bough 7 cards with collector tokens and I got 3 non series 3 cards. I'm currently missing 16 series 3 cards so I think I will complete series 3 way earlier than 6 months. Do you think the sunspot bundle made all that difference or I got very lucky?

Gold Bundle speed up progression quite a bit so it definitely helped. They actually turned off progression luck in a recent patch but your early progression likely could be luck inspired.

Man, if the drop rate on getting cards you mention is accurate for most people, I'm getting screwed. I just scrolled through the last 500 levels or so on my 1500 CL. on average I get 3 or 4 non cards for every card I get out of a collector's reserve. also, when I get a card, it's been about a 30 percent chance that it's just a variant of something I already have.

Variants don’t affect your rate of card acquisition. Also they changed things so there isn’t really any randomness in how often you get cards so you technically can’t get “screwed” can’t get lucky though either.

Thats not correct. Collectors reserve have a 25% chance of getting a new card, a 25% chance of getting a Cosmetic reward, a 25% chance of getting 100 Collector's Tokens, a 15% chance of getting an amount of Credits, and a 10% chance of getting 200 Gold. So in every set of 4, you are guaranteed a new card, a variant, and 100 collectors token. That 4th reserve in each set has split odds of being either credits or gold. But a variant will never take the place of a new card. The only thing that can take the place of a new Series 3 card is a higher series card from Series 4 or Series 5.

@@Slayer8957 just a note, the percentages are pointless. They only apply to the first box in a group of 4. So CL 1006 is the first Reserve. It has a 25% chance of everything you said. Say it’s currency (credits or gold). The next box has a 33% chance to be card, cosmetic, or 100 tokens. The next box has 50% chance. And the last one is 100%. Then it resets and everything has a 25% chance again

I just found Thanos in my token shop (I'm early-mid P3) so I'm pinning him. I know I probably should buy P3 cards but I actually got lucky during the early P3 and pulled Wong, Destroyer, and a few other key players. I have enough unique decks that I can build but I'd love to play with Thanos. I doubt I'll see him again for a while.

I say do that. The 6000 tokens will just save you 18 days and you need 36 days to save up 6000 tokens again. If you just want Thanos or Galactus, you actually come out ahead by getting them early.

Well if I do that I'll get comments like "Why add music, I can do it myself, please remove the music" SO it's a circle of complains with that atm. But I do understand that feel, definitely have music on stream.

I would like to know if once i have all of series 3 cards, will the series 4 and 5 cost less to buy using collector tokens?

They do not cost less, but you collect more tokens per month to supplement the collection of cards so you can expect to buy the series 1 series 5 or 2 series 4 cards roughly per month.

As of 6/11/23, is this out of date? I think the collectors tokens economy has changed since you can’t buy Series 3 anymore. Not sure what else has changed since this video dropped. Loved the video!

After hitting the collection level of 1000 it is really depressing actually.. when you want to open a box just to get a Red Omega avatar makes you dont want to play this game anymore.. I was actually lucky because I did get a couple of meta cards from 486 to 1000 like Patriot, Wong, Ultron etc. but I would like to mess around with Ghost Rider, Lockjaw, Hella and stuff like this because its getting a bit boring. Overall it encourages you to have one strong deck and wait for cards that will help you with other types which is actually the funniest part of this game.

Thanks for this. What would be the average CL someone could expect to complete series 3 by? Assuming no token shop and the one series 4 per month. Based on the other replies it looks like ~3100.

It's higher than that by about 200 CL for every series drop, after they tweaked the drop rate of cards in reserves, it increased from 3100 CL to the current system which is 3300-3400 CL to finish series 3.

I am at CL 683 and I got up to Savage Land rank 54, and now I'm in a huge slump.... I'm down to 44 now and have been struggling to get wins and climb back up. Was really hoping to at least get to 60... I don't know what to do. Been trying diff decks etc just seems I'm going against really strong components and it's depressing lol.

Yeah similar stuff here. Finished my first month with game in infinity 110 rank with pool 2 cards, than reached pool 3 and can't climb past 60.

@@ssjnimma I tend to play a lot of different decks because that is fun for me. If I played a single one I could more regularly determine if my board state can win. It also helps to know what the standard sort of plays someone can make against you is when you snap. That took me some time to learn. The hardest thing is retreating for me, I like to see what they would have beat me with sometimes so I stay in when I shouldn't

It actually makes it shorter. Variants and cards don’t share a reserve slot (you get 1 cosmetic and 1 card per set of 4). But a new variant only costs 25 credits to upgrade the first time just like a new card/split would, so it’s extra CL progression.

You get a genuinely new card every 48 CL. Variants are just one of the things you can pull in the other caches

At level 4588 and still going to be a while before series 3 complete. Saved gold, spent tiokens on series 4 cards. Only series 5 through spotlight cache or random.

How many cards you have left for series 3?

I started playing two seasons ago and I’m still grinding season 3 cards. I’ve reached infinite both times. Kinda struggling this season I’m stuck between 80 to 85. I keep bouncing up and down. I should get to infinite by next week.

If I only spent gold in boundle that gives me credits and/or tokens... On average how much would it reduces my pool3 completion time?

2400 credits is the equivalent of 3 days (if you have boosters to spend the credits). The February bundles have 9200 credits. Which is almost 12 days worth of time saved. Every 1000 tokens is another 3 days. You can get 4500 from bundles in February. So that’s 14 days more. Total, that’s 26 days minimum saved if you buy the Negative and Deadpool bundles.

There will be 1 Series 4 card in every SET of 40 boxes. So theoretically, you can go 79 boxes before getting two quickly but yeah it is 40 boxes on average.

Botting with Agatha help a lot i got like 2.5 season cache a night

The slow down after 1k is massive and you start running into more complete collections more often and it has definitely turned the game less fun when there isn't much you can do beyond just keep doing the dailies to unlock more.

I have 47 cards left so it's gonna take me 5 months to get JUST series 3 cards. And that's not including series drops when they happen which adds more cards in that pool.

Regarding the guide for collector’s tokens, yes, you do save time per Series 3 purchase you make. However, this occurs at a loss in tokens for the box that would have contained your card, because instead of that card, you get 200-600 collector’s tokens - a loss of 800-400 tokens from the 1000 you spent to get that card. So yes, it saves time to rush through Series 3, but it also comes at a loss of tokens - which will be a factor once you’re done with Series 3 and you are looking to purchase a Galactus or a Thanos, who will always be at 6K. Just consider how that 800-400 tokens you lost from spending 1K on a card do add up, so the time you saved from getting a Series 3 card is now compounded (and then some) to the time needed to save for your Series 5 purchase.

Thanos and Galactus arent staying permanent in Series 5. They are just being delayed from being demoted until more "big bad" cards are added like Kang the Conqueror.

@Slayer8957 Im not sure if there have been any updates but I believe Ben Brode tweeted a response to someone confirming that their series 5 status is "permanent" and that "others will join them." Meaning that they wont drop even when new big bads are added.

Answer: downloaded at global launch. Completed series 3 about an hour before the most recent update... so now I don't have series 3 completed anymore.... so I guess I don't have the answer I thought I did.....

Hold on, I don't think that buying a card with tokens really saves 48 CL, because you need to get 10 times 100 tokens to afford one, so that's a bunch of CL needed for that, right?

When you complete series 3, you will get ~400 tokens every time you would have opened a series 3 card. This will happen every 4 Boxes, or 48 CL. When you buy a series 3 card, instead of getting the card, you now get the 400 tokens. I say it pushes you forward into the moment when that starts happening, which is 48 CL.

Where 5500 credits a day come from? Daily and weekly sums to 4500

I am on CL 1824. Have all Series 3.
