    Personally, I don't enjoy dating more than one person at a time. For this reason, I prefer to bring up my preference for exclusivity early, while indicating it doesn't necessitate commitment until later down the road. After your recommendation of two or more months I would consider becoming "official" and introducing them to friends and family. I do not sleep with anyone without exclusivity, and yet want to test the chemistry before allowing myself to fall in love. Exclusivity is a means of growing trust early on, and then I can see how they act without other women in their life.

    Hello friend, I agree and I think it's good to bring up what you are looking for at an early stage of dating so you don't waste each other's time. Good luck on your dating and thank you for your comment. :)

    I too agree. If you are (or want/considering to be) intimate with someone, be exclusive for as long as it lasts, keep it hygienic.

    I agree. I really just don’t have time to be dating more than one person at a time. When I’m dating someone I want to see them 1-2 times per week and text in between. I feel like anything less pretty much just makes them a friend. I can’t handle seeing multiple people 1-2 times per week and having consistent conversations in between. By around the 6-8 week mark (ideally about 7-10 dates in and lots of chatting in between) I’d be ready to either make it official or really consider moving on.

    You'll be more at ease in France and Europe then. In France (and pretty much in all Europe i think) first it's very rare when someone dates more than one person at a time (only players do that) and there's no discussion about being exclusive. If we go on dates with someone, when one of these dates end up by a kiss, it implies that we are starting a relationship and will be exclusive. No need to ask "are we exclusive?" or to talk about it. We value (for most) the meaning of kissing someone. In the context of a date with a stranger, we kiss someone we like and wish to start something with, we don't kiss someone if we have no intention to start a relationship and plan to see other persons the next days etc. and even more if we have sex (only players and people with no genuine intentions or 2 people who'd agree they just want fun, like people with low values in nightclubs for example, would do otherwise). You go on dates with different persons (one person at a time, meaning if your date was meh, you won't see that person again and will try with someone else and if it went good you'll keep trying only with that person for now) for as long as you want as far as there hasn't been any physical activity (kiss and/or sex) and that the first date didn't go well with the person (if it went well, it's not likely you'll try dating someone else in the meantime) if you will. Meaning if you go on a date once, and that you have a crush on each other and end up the night by kissing cos you felt like kissing (it can happens), just that is enough for both to know you are now in a relationship and exclusive. And most of the time, there will never be 2-3 months of dating with the same person, that's super long. We'll go on dates with the same person, and one at a time, like twice a week + texting/calling in between. I think most people would go on dates with the same person for max a month (more likely 2-3 weeks) before kissing happens if it has to happen (no rules but i don't know any one around me - and i'm 41 - who has dated someone for 2-3 months without starting a relationship). Also, we put way less importance on distance, U.S Americans seem to want to date only within a very short radius from where they live. Pretty sure it's the same beyond Europe, in most Asian countries too, never heard about talking about being exclusive, datign multiple persons at once and dating for 3 months outside of USA. I could never date an U.S American, even if she was living in France, simply for the fact that i'd know she's seeing someone else at the same time and don't value what we have and if we kiss or had sex, it would have 0 meaning or importance to her for as long as we didn't have that "talk" about being exclusive that she needs.

    People with options will always take longer. Only if they meet someone who they think is out of their league and don't want to lose them.

    I also like frequent communication in dating because it makes me feel desired. I don't want to be the one always initiating conversations. And looking like I am overly reaching for the guy. He should miss me and want to talk to me too !

    Dating in USA is so strange for all of us from outside USA. We don't really understand why "you" make everything so complicated 😩 Looks like you guys are browsing a store and shopping for food, the way you date. The "being exclusive" talk you guys have, is a strange concept for us in France and Europe in general i think (and most of Asia too i'm pretty sure)

    @@heatherva In France (and pretty much in all Europe, America Latina and many Asian countries i think, but i'll talk just for France as i'm French) first it's very rare when someone dates more than one person at a time, only players do that. And there's no discussion about being exclusive, nobody does that. If we go on dates with someone, when one of these dates end up by a kiss, it implies that we are starting a relationship and will be exclusive. No need to ask "are we exclusive?" or to talk about it. The kiss is like the start of everything...because why would you kiss someone you have no will to be with in the first place, right? We value that (except those who meet people in nightclubs and some people with lower values, for them kissing means nothing, they are in nightclubs for ONS not for dating anyway) In clear, we (the vast majority of us) don't kiss someone if we have no intention to start a relationship and plan to see other persons the next days etc. and even more if we have sex (again, only players and people with no genuine intentions or 2 people who'd agree they just want fun, like people with low values in nightclubs for example, would do otherwise). And we go on dates with different persons (one person at a time, meaning if your date was meh, you won't see that person again and will try with someone else and if it went good you'll keep trying only with that person for now) for as long as you want as far as there hasn't been any physical activity (kiss and/or sex) and that the first date didn't go well with the person (if it went well, it's not likely you'll try dating someone else in the meantime) if you will. Everything is more natural and simple outside USA. And most of the time, there will never be 2-3 months of dating with the same person, that's super long. We'd go on dates with the same person, one at a time, like twice a week + texting/calling in between (some don't do that, but it's very common to do it if we enjoyed the first date). I think most people would go on dates with the same person for max a month (more likely 2-3 weeks) before kissing happens if it has to happen (no rules but i don't know any one around me - and i'm 41 - who has dated someone for 2-3 months without starting a relationship, and if dates goes well, you probably would kiss after the second or third date). Also, generally speaking we put way less importance on distance, U.S Americans seem to want to date only within a very short radius from where they live (for example if i met someone on a dating app, I could go and the other side of France to meet her if I vibe with her, and I'm even open to LDR, something extremely rare with U.S Americans it seems) Pretty sure it's the same beyond Europe, in America Latina, in most Asian countries too, never heard about talking about being exclusive, dating multiple persons at once and dating for 3 months outside of USA. I probably could never date an U.S American, even if she was living in France, not that I wouldn't like to on paper, but simply for the fact that i'd know she's seeing someone else at the same time and don't value what we have and if we kiss or had sex, it would have 0 meaning or importance to her for as long as we didn't have that "talk" about being exclusive that she needs. Because in our countries, if someone you kissed (meaning you are now in a relationship) keep dating other people... and kiss and/or have sex with other people, we obviously see it as being cheated on.

    This is very interesting, thanks for sharing the perspective. Shows there is more than one day to do something, and there may be no “right” way or best way, but that different cultures have different ways of doing things which is what makes humans around the world so unique.

  • @williamshevr

    @williamshevr

    @@the_gibsterr You're welcome. As usual (it's the same for unit measures (distance, temperatures, weight etc.), popular sports, chatting apps used the most and so many other things) U.S Americans do things differently than the rest of the world 😆 Roughly there is 2 ways to date i think (from what I know) the USA way, and the "rest of the world" way (maybe with some slight variations, like in Japan or Phillipines you litterally have to ask to the girl to be your girlfriend, like an "official" demande "would you be my girlfriend" and even more formal in Japan. But indeed it's always interesting to learn about each other cultural differences 😌 Actually, browsing KZread, I came across a few time (on totally unrelated videos) U.S American girls saying on their video they would prefer to do as we do if they could and some Asian U.S Americans saying (that's also why I know it's the same in many countries there) that they do the same as us and would prefer if datign was more simple and natural in USA. Isn't it more beautiful/romantic/natural, to decide to kiss someone only if you genuinely like that person and wish to start something, and from there, to start being exclusive without needing to talk about it? 😌 (and to go on another date with another person only if you don't want to go on other dates with the previous person) I'm on a dating app rn and whenever i stumble upon someone i really enjoy chatting with and with whom i vibe and connect (which is very very rare, because most people on dating apps are so weird), I focus only on that person, i don't feel the need to send new messages to new girls.

    Depends on your age and goals, if you want marriage and kids move...since the number of ppl you meet and date is very important. If not wanting children just keep putting yourself out there to meet a husband If you don’t want marriage and just a companion you can do meet up to meet ppl, drive out 2 times a week...since you will hopefully date with someone 2 times a week you will be used to it.

    I need some advice right now and this helps. Here a bit of the story. The girl I'm going on dates has given signs we should move to the next step. We known each other for 6 months now, and 2 of them we have been dating. I hanged out and talked with them frequently in those first 4 months as friends.. We have gone on 3 to 4 dates, but have hanged out a lot more than just that. We frequently talk throughout the day and call each other about 2 to 3 times a week. I think this is a good time to ask, but wondering if I should wait 1 more month or take a leap for it?

    Dont. Sex is bonding and doing it with multiple people cause emotional damage, men can "dehumanise" they sexual partners (the zones of the brain that activate when we see a naked woman are the same for tool usage) But canot bond with multiple people either. The hook up culture is simply a bad idea unless you dont care about mental health.
