My husky Neptune knows his crate is his sleeping room and I built a 15 foot long kennel for him where he stays when I'm at work. He has his own digging and potty area and brings whatever toys he wants for the day lol. He has done so good since day 1 in his crate I gave him the whole crate though so he had his bed and a pee pad to go potty at night and fortunately he grew out of it and now he knows that crate is just for bedtime.

I've been honestly binging on your videos so much. I got a husky puppy 2 weeks ago and now she's about 2 and a half months and to be honest out of all of the dog training videos, some of them do work but most don't because huskies are huskies and I've been wanting to look for advice and tips from husky owners themselves and you've really helped me rethink and cater everything that can work for my husky pup! Not all dogs are hyper and stubborn as huskies but man are they amazing and I can't wait for my girl to be my Hila!

Blue is "roomed trained" and loves to sleep under the bed as if it is a crate (she hides under there when she gets scared) I also put up a cam and she sleeps about 60% of the time we are gone lol I do wish we crate trained her when she was younger though. Great video as always!

One more thing your husky will adapt to your schedule.. if you have no other option .. they don’t hold their potty breaks in the whole time maybe the very end of the time but if you watch how many times they go potty watch how much water they drink and you’ll notice your husky using their HUSKY POWERS and drinking and eating accordingly .. make sure it’s fresh water and top grade A food and make sure you interact with them and since it’s longer make sure you put the trash up out of the way and let them stretch and sleep on the floor or the bed .. it does take practice and and routine I put my shoes on and my husky is in the. Kennel waiting for a treat

Thank you so much, and yes I agree, it's not for all dogs. It's a valuable asset to have under your belt in terms of safety and training, but no, it's not for every dog. Also, no I'm not endorsed by anyone. Just all my personal opinions on these things. I would announce that information if I were being sponsored by someone like kong. :)

My Alusky is crate trained. He loves his crate and dens up with toys during the day. When it is quiet and no one is active he goes in his crate to snooze. I put the crate in the common room of the house from day one. He is part of my pack and stays involved with most family activities. I work nights so he is not cooped up a lot during the day, just when I run errands so he does not eat things. My dog has a fascination with wooden furniture.

I also personally think that if you're going to be gone for ten hours a day, you should have two huskies. Or at least two dogs. Otherwise they could get bored, lonely, depressed (yes dogs get depressed).. And keeping them in a "puppy room."

Love the videos. Hila looks so much like my Sasha! Though better behaved as I wasn’t able to get her as a puppy and her former owner didn’t train her well and I am seriously thinking he never socialized her with other dogs! The only dog she got along with was my late German Shepherd/Afghan hound and even they took a month to get along. Any other dog, she won’t tolerate especially small dogs. How do you socialize an older Husky and train an older Husky? (I know I would have an easier time if she were still a pup but I can’t get rid of her just because her previous doggy daddy didn’t work with her).

i have a pomsky who doesnt like the crate but doesnt seem to hate it. Sometimes she wont go in. Other times its without issue. She sleeps fine and had several beds in there with her. She kept picking at them one by one and so i just got a new one after about a week of her pciking at one. She however has been more destructive lately and eating her beds at night. She went through 3 beds in 3 days. (i bought them way ahead of time.) She eats blankets, beds anything. Is there anything i can do? I try leave it and she ignores me as usual. She also seems to forget she used to have a blanket over her crate so when i move it she attacks the blanket all over again. She's only 3 months old. She can go a whole night in the crate without peeing and about 6 hours during the day. I had work and they wouldn't let me leave and no one i knew could go get her so she had to wait. Any suggestions for the blanket eating/ bed eating and what toys to keep in the crate? She gets very destructive if nothing is in it, so i've been leaving a kong ball and kong bone. (The blue and green one in your videos)

I work from home, but I still have to punch a time clock and can't have background noise because I take phone calls for 8 hours. I have a 4 year old husky that I rescued from a shelter about 5 months ago, and he's a bit of a psycho lol. He's chewed up my glasses, eaten bottles of medication (scared the crap out of me and I had to call poison control to make sure he wouldn't die), etc. He's chilling out a bit now, but he still stays crated anytime I can't closely watch him because he'll eat anything, and he can't be trusted unsupervised in our fenced in backyard either because he's an escape artist, and has found ways out about 7 times in the last 5 months. Always managed to find him thankfully. He's learned to quiet down at night in his crate when we sleep, and he stays mostly quiet in the crate while I work, but I get two 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch, and on those breaks I always let him out to stretch, get water, go potty, and get a treat. Then he comes out for a few hours in the evening for dinner and a good 45 minute to an hour walk. We also have a female pitbull/red lab mix who's 5, and we adopted her at about 6 months old. She pretty much freely roams the house and doesn't mess with anything, make noise, or potty inside. I'm thankful that she's so well behaved lol. Anyway, this video made me feel better about leaving my husky in his crate for a few hours at a time because sometimes I feel guilty that my other dog doesn't have to be crated lol. My husky's crate has plenty of space for him to stand up and turn around, but not enough for him to establish a bathroom space in it. I feel less like a monster now for having to keep him put up for a couple of hours at a time since he does get to come out for at least 10 to 25 minutes 3 times during my work day and in the evening for dinner and exercise lol. He's my first husky, so I really appreciate your videos! They're super helpful!

My husky is 9 weeks. We have only had him for one week and he is crate trained. He doesn’t cry and sleeps in his comfy bed all night in his his crate from about 10pm and He usually gets me up at 5am. (The time I wake up anyway). And has not once used the bathroom in there.

My oldest girl is 16 months, and I never leave her for more then 1-2 hours in her crate during the day, BUT she does sleep 7:30pm-7:30am in her crate. She occasionally wakes up for a pee around 6am, but honestly she loves her sleep at night. If I try to keep her awake, she takes herself to her crate by 8pm. But I bought my girl a crate big enough for her to stretch/spread out etc. since she sleeps in it for so long. I mainly have to crate her at night for her safety, and the safety of my cats. The new puppy is 9 weeks and already she falls asleep at 10pm, and doesn't wake up until 6am to go out for a pee. If she whines/wakes up I will take her outside, but the last 3 nights she slept right through.

I bring my Siberian Husky almost everywhere with me. She rarely needs her crate; however, if going out for 3 hours or so, and someplace I can't bring her, the tops is 3 hours, I won't leave her longer than that, and one best be prepared to take the pup outside and run for a while once you get home. My Husky is 3 years old, she's very social and well mannered. She gets complimented everywhere we go for how beautiful (she's pure white) and well behaved she is

Genuinely, I feel like this is different for any husky doggo. I have a 3 months old Husky boy named Koda. I usually stay at home with him all the time and is never unsupervised. He's usually in the crate when I sleep for 6+ hours and he does just fine. I guess it's just a bit harder on the fact that he wines when I leave him alone in the room crated as I train him that way for separation anxiety. Also if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Do you stay at home most of the time? Work from home? KZread only? Just curious. :o

We are about to get a husky from a rescue, about 2-3 yrs old. We both work 10-12 hr shifts so a crate didn’t even cross my mind. My plan was to get an insulated doghouse that is also under a covered patio, fenced in back yard. To start was thinking of a long lead until we know he won’t try and dig out. Another idea was the garage, but would have to put in a dog door which we would rather not do. I would be ok with giving him free range of the house, but idd assume he would get in trouble plus he would need to go the bathroom. Any advice? He would be an inside dog other than when we are at work.

I crated my Shepard about 6 mo. All day. Hated to do it. Finally did some custom work on the Windows and he was able to have the house. They do sleep alot when there's nothing to do. I'm retired now and my new puppy has it good. He only gets caged 2-3 hours couple times a week. He adapted well to it. The cage I got is huge. Paid 180$ should be at least big enough so they can stand normally, turn around easily. Lay normally. The cage is almost always a long term necessity. Even after they can run the house without destroying stuff, you still need to cage them when strangers enter... when working with doors and Gates open...i use it for time outs when their bad. ive had 2 cage trained dogs already. They learn to go in their cage when told. The cage becomes their safe space. Never correct your dog in the cage. Let it be thier safe space like it should be. They even go in on their own to hide from fireworks and loud noises if their the kind that don't like it. Theyre den animals. The cage isn't much different.

I have a 1 1/2 year old Husko and we leave her alone at night and she has rule over the house and has NEVER had an accident. if you can bell train ( buy those Santa bells at walmart for 5$) it will help you so so much with communication with your husko, they are smart and will learn quickly, if she ever gets up in the middle of the night and has to go she will just ring the bell. NOW, I have not given her run of the house when we leave, but we accidentally forgot once and there was no damage at all. it's all about how you train the husky and how well you are exercising them. GOOD LUCK!

*also, the more you show them as a puppy that the crate is their home and they are not meant to pee in it, the less likely they will be to pee in the crate AND in your house!

I have a shed / garage that I’ve converted into a summer house . I was thinking of keeping one in their during the day . I would really love a husky but I usually work around 8 hours . I could come back most days thankfully. Im thinking in the shed it’s secluded and could be the dogs area. I also spend a lot of time down there so I think it would enforce it’s a safe space. It’s the main hurdle for me but when I can work out a solution I would so love one . Every 8 days I have to be on call for 24 hours which means I’m usually able to get home but those days I may have to find a local dog sitter to help out which is fine by me . I just want the husky to be as happy and healthy as yours . I think possibly 2 might also make it easier as they will have company ?

My 5 yr old husky stays in the kennel for 10 hours .. I don’t feed her till shes out of it and I’m home for the night .. Husky’s have awesome control over their bodies .. my husky won’t drink water if she has to go to the bathroom in the slightest.. REMEMBER HUSKYS CAN CONTROL THEIR FOOD AND WATER INTAKE they were bred to go miles and miles with no bathroom break that sounds worse then it really is but I mean I just don’t have any one and I walk my dog and she doesn’t sleep in the crate she sleeps on the floor or beside me but it’s all on how you train your dog mine is use to it she goes to the bathroom right before and right after the kennel I wouldn’t suggest just doing it off the bat and work up to it but huskies can adapt that’s what makes them the best dog after she gets out she’ll eat and bathroom and stretch but it’s not for a new husky owner

Husky puppies will most likely need to go out multiple times per night. I’d say twice is a safe number. Probably around midnight, then at 3 or 4am, and then again around 7:390-8am. Husky puppies need to go to the bathroom a lot, and also this is important because it teaches your puppy routine, that going outside is the proper way to potty. Hope this helps!

I'm getting a husky puppy in the beginning of july when he is 8 weeks. I understand that crate could be a good thing. But here in Sweden it's forbidden by law to put your dog in a crate even for one minute inside the house. You can have a crate inside but are not allowed to even have the door open. You have to take the door off.

I almost have to have her in the kennel cause if she’s in to big of space she’ll think of something and I’m real picky on who walks my dog I am not in control if they lose my dog and I can’t fix it but she can travel I say up to 200 miles in a vehicle and stay up to 10 hours in a kennel with 20 min to 30 (what I call break stride) running around bathroom breaks before and after with a lot of water but you just have to condition you’re husky to be able to be safe and calm .. but that’s me and my dog had and she has a vet and she gets all kinda tests and shots every year so I know 1000 % MY DOG can do it
