Also little things like pointing out wind stocks, and general commentary about what the players are doing, eg, “neutral jumping here to bait a whiff”. Little touches like that make the video go from good to great. Needless to say, subbing!!

You should. Lily is still a good character. Every single character in this game is viable. It's just how you the player utilize your character. In SF6 tier lists don't really matter imo. It's like Aki when she came out everyone screamed she was low tier but in reality she was mid tier if you played her long enough. But even if Lily is one of the 'worst' in the game she's still very good if you use her strengths.

Noah probably goes into burnout more than any other player in that entire tournament but his constant burnout state wasn't why he lost or he wouldn't have gotten 2nd place out of 1400 players. Though I do think his constant burning out played a small role in him losing against ElChaokotay. One thing that helped Lily was also her getting a wake up drive reversal in the update. That doesn't mean she's top tier but imo tiers do not matter in a game like SF6 because every single character is viable and winnable in this game which is evidenced by Lily winning in the hands of a skilled player who never stopped playing Lily since release.

I've always said Lily is strong, because of her mixup situations. She lacked (a lot) on defense, but wakeup OD reversal helped her a lot with that. So if well used, she can beat anyone.

I mean, to be completely honest, there were very few heavy hitters at combo breaker and that’s the main reason a Lily won. I’d love to see her win more tournaments but when chakotay went to dreamhack he didn’t get out of top 64. He was like 260th or something at evo and when more than 3 big guys show up he won’t place in the top 10.

Noah burns himself out a little too often his aggression becomes predictable for the top players

See I thought the constant burnout state was what made him lose but there's a reason he won 2nd place at Combo Breaker despite that. That's just how fluid of a game SF6 is. Though imo he definitely shouldn't have burned out as much to a player like Elchakotay

Might be a Luke thing too. I've seen top Luke players burn themselves out way more readily than others. Luke apparently has (had?) the ability to stay on top of things reasonably well even without drive moves, especially when on the offence.

The question is not how a character did good in the hands of a capable player, but how did noah got so far when his entire tournament gimmick was burning out in the first 5 seconds of each round and then spend the rest of them jumping like the floor is lava. Such a disgusting, scrub-defining play style that would ashame even Gandhi himself.

Honestly the buffs didn't play a big role other than the universal reversal. Elchacotay is just a really good character specialist.

Everyone pretty much understand how Lily plays considering she's feels like a one note character. Her buff aren't really significant that drastically changes her playing style nor catapult her to top tier status either. And the only universal changed that really helped her is wake up Drive Reversal because she doesn't have invicbile DP. So, this is mostly El Chakotay played very solid with Lily.

The balance update new recovery drive reversal is a direct counter to Noah play style. Basically, every time Noah go burnout, his opponent get a almost guaranteed safe wakeup option in the form of recovery drive reversal (-2 on block burnout). Unless Noah make a hard read on recovery drive reversal by neutral jumping, he won't get the chance to punish it.

Lol it is pretty easy. ElChakotay is really great at Lilly and been playing her since day one of SF6. Before season 2 she was definitely in the bottom half of the roster, probably the bottom 25%, after the buffs she is definitely threatening membership in the top half. Because she was so low tier before, very few played her, no one labbed her, and no one knew the match up. You didn't really need to. But Chakotay definitely knows the Luke matchup.

lily is such a boring character, she was weak, and she still is for now. But when it comes to her turn to attack, she just need to use a stock and fly onto your face, you are force to take a guess between block and jump. there is very little skills and mechanical stuff involve. I like to play neutral, mindgame is also fun, but Lily is just poorly designed. Gief can do the same thing but he is also required to play neutral to get in the position where he can 50/50 you. I rather play agaisnt JP Guile or DJ, those characters i can use my mechanics and skills to beat them, playing agaisnt Lily just lacking interactions
