How Leighton Vander Esch Exceeded ALL Expectations for the Dallas Cowboys
Спорт
Leighton Vander Esch's journey to the NFL is like no other. Growing up in Riggins, Idaho, a town with 406 people, LVE hardly had an easy path to becoming the player necessary to compete in the NFL. Despite playing 8 man football in high school and having to walk-on at Boise State, Vander Esch has overcome all the odds to become a Pro-Bowl caliber linebacker in the NFL. Watch this video to follow his journey from the backcountry, all the way to becoming the Wolf Hunter for the Dallas Cowboys

It's a shame he gets discredited just because he's a Cowboy. This guy is a versatile Linebacker, he plays in a 4-3 defense, doesn't go on blitzes very much yet racks up 140 tackles and didn't even start every game. Let's not forget he is great in coverage, he manages to get 102 solo tackles while along side two of the best LB's in the League. He got snubbed at DROY.

That's pretty inspiring. As a Giants fan, I very much respect the Dallas franchise, and have a soft spot for small town people. I wish Vander Esch the very best on his journey.
Being at a game when he makes a play and everyone starts howling is one of the coolest things I've ever experienced watching football.

I loved the pick cause he looked like Thad from Blue Mountain State when it happened, then seeing him play made me think we got a huge steal in the draft last season.
I stopped watching the normal tv nfl media shows. the depth of your research and style of the videos makes me excited to watch football again. I fucking love your channel. keep it up.
*Pulls out my LVE jersey before watching* Now I'm a die-hard Cowboys fan. I saw we drafted a LINEBACKER in the first round and I was admittedly a little upset. "We need someone to replace Dez! Or better yet, Jason!" God, I was wrong. Coming from a small town in the middle of Texas, Leighton gives me hope that I can be great- from wherever I'm from.

Watched this video after watching Johnny Manzel. One born with the silver spoon, great prospect, SEC school; the other plays 8-man in high school, goes to a Mountain West school, takes nothing for granted. Two complete different ends of the professional spectrum. Excellent job on both videos. ESPN quality.
As a Cowboys fan, I’m glad we have this young man on the team. He’s a bright spot on that defense that already had Jaylon Smith, Demarcus Lawrence, and Tyrone Crawford. His sideline-to-sideline ability and speed just let me know that he’s gonna be a star for years to come. #LVE #WolfHunter 🐺 🐺

Awesome video! Great job!
It’s crazy how similar his and Darius Leonard’s story is. Small town, smaller school, country boy, now nfl starters and 2 of the brightest young players in the league

Great video
I am a huge cowboys fan and not just a half ass fan. I pay attention to everything and read as much as there is available and watch as much as there is available. When they drafted LVE I was like what the hell??? I feel so bad for that because he is a smart kid and a hell of a football player. Big and athletic. That guy has a good career ahead of him.
The Wolf hunter... enough said. Great vid!
Another banger
Great video. But again Darius was surrounded with WAY less talent defensively, a rookie head coach, a rookie defensive coordinator, and still put up insane numbers. Also in the playoff loss, it was Pat Mahomes who smacked indy not the running game. Leighton is a freak it will be very interesting to compare them 2-5 years from now. Thanks for the video!
@TILIS214
5 жыл бұрын
Him being surrounded by WAY less talent means it was easier for him to get tackles. Leighton had to compete with Jaylon Smith and D Law. U say a rookie DC but it was Richard 1st year with us and Leighton a rookie so that could be viewed as a rookie DC as well. 2-5 years from now Leighton and Jaylon gone be solidified as the best LBs in the game and Leonard won't be close he might be good tho
Love this guy he’s a hell of a person playing against him in highschool was a pleasure
Love the vids
Love the vid
Vander Esch & Jaylon Smith?!? GO COWBOYS!!! 🤠
Amazing vid
Great video as always! Would love to see something on the Bears soon!
Heeeyoh! There he is! Glad to have ya back buddy
Yes!
Goddamn I love this channel. Seriously you're the best
There was some serious defensive talent in that 2018 draft! And as someone from small town montana not far from here, and who's cousins graduated from small town colorado with dalton risner (2nd round pick in 2019 by broncos) this shit is awesome!!!
Met this kid in high school before all the fame complete class and good natured guy he deserves everything he’s worked for I’m so happy for the guy even tho I’m a saints fan😂
I’m proud I get to say I’ve been here since 1k
Quality content 😎
I live in Idaho and worked with Laten, he was my coach for the BSU camp and I never though he would become such a great player
Awesome
That's crazy how him and lenard came from small unpopular schools and be better than the other top LB ranked draft picks lol.
god i love this guy
Good thing you didn't overlook him having Sean Lee as a mentor. I love this channel
Used to live in Idaho falls for like 8 years. Beautiful place
NEW VIDEO LETS GO
I remember watching the 2018 draft and first seeing Leighton and thinking wow this dude is huge and gonna be good but turned out to be great.
Very epic
I love this guy👍👍😊😊

Great video! I watched it all! Everybody else: 1V1 ME!
It’s weird seeing this video because I live by Riggins and I’ve seen all of this scenery in person
Do a vid on Jaylen Ramsey!
You should do a video on sam darnold and include how there is going to be a rivalry between him and rosen
First! Cant wait!
Dude is Nice and hope he gets better without the injury bug.
Hey we ended up taking MG13 in the 3rd so in hindsight taking LVE in the first was a good move. Even though he hasn't been on the field 100% of the time
You should do a video on " THE MANIAC " Darius Leonard and his rise from not receiving a scholarship to Clemson to being a 2nd round pick and then leading the NFL in tackles, being named defensive rookie of the year, the all NFL team, and not getting a pro bowl nod despite all the accomplishments. I mean him and Quenton Nelson both got the nod for all NFL and no one has done that in like 50 or 60 years if im not mistaken.
I know where Riggins is. I go there a couple of times a year. There's a Elk farm a couple miles up the river
Do a video of James Washington and LJ Collier, 2 kids who came from rival small town schools north of Abilene, Texas who made it into the NFL.
During his rookie season he broke an NFL record by Tom Brady for the most consecutive passes without an interception to start a career (162). He didn't throw an interception until his 177th pass He didn't stop there, either. A second-quarter touchdown to Dez Bryant set another NFL record "25 career touchdowns with the fewest interceptions (4) in NFL history" Against the Denver Broncos, Prescott became the first quarterback in league history to throw less than five interceptions in his first 500 passing attempts...DAMN DAK😬💯
Sean Lee is a class act. I wish he could've stayed healthy.
You should do a vid on who you think the 5 most undervalued 2019 draft class players
