I completely agree and have noticed this in myself. I was born in Russia (east coast) and spent my formative years there but move to the UK when I was 14. I have now been here for over 20 years and don't have a Russian accent because I ceased speaking it regularly due to not having any Russian speaking friends, and seldom interacting with my Russian family. I started thinking in english probably after a few years of living in the UK and my mentality has shifted because of that. As incredible and diverse languages are - the rigidity of them as outlined by you in the video makes them actually an extremely limiting form of communication. It's the best tool we have but still not quite good enough, evidenced by the constant misunderstandings, distrust and devisions that we see in our personal lives and the wider world. A lot of world problems stem from the fact we simply do not understand each other correctly. I have thought about this quite deeply and believe language and words are like the branches and leaves of a tree. They spread out through space and you can follow each branch (which we can call - an explanation of a concept) but the space in between the branches has no way being explained. The surrounding area of the crown of the tree is everything that is real in the world but we can only follow the distinct paths set out by the tree and its branches. So when we reach situations where we need describe something that is actually located in between the branches - there is no way of getting to that point through the path of the branches themselves. That's why feelings often can not be adequately explained as they are located in the space around the tree, and not within the branches themselves. If telepathy could be possible, perhaps that would be an infinitely better form of communication.

That's so true. I totally agree that most of the problems occur just because we look at them from different perspectives... We all need to understand this. Thank you for taking your time and writing your comment 😊 your case is especially interesting because your mind is probably working like a bilingual one sometimes! That's amazingly interesting to think about

I agree with you. Learning English changed my perspective about many things. My mother tongue is Spanish and since I learned English i got more spacial intelligence... as I learned things like in, on, at and "on referring to clothes" example put the shirt on.. we don't have those things in Spanish.. it's incredible how a language can change how you perceive the world

Yeah, that thing with different preposition use in languages is a huge topic on its own to think about! It might be hard to remember all those intricacies and then switch between languages, but it's something beautiful in some sense and entertaining if we don't pressure ourselves
