When I was at my very first CPR training, the instructor wanted us to guess the song. He told us the title was fitting and started doing the beat, and I recognized the beat but not as Stayin' Alive. When the instructor saw the confused/horrified look on my face, he stopped and asked me what was up. I answered, "Another One Bites the Dust? Really?". He said that was wrong and then be paused and began laughing his ass off. When he regained his composure he said "I never realized Stayin' Alive and Another One Bites the Dust have the same beat."

Do not secure someone's jaw during a seizure. Turn them on their side if you can so they are able to maintain an open airway in case they vomit. Clear some space and move items that could injure them. Don't try to hold them down. It's possible they may bite their tongue and that is preferable to them choking on potential vomit and dying because someone secured their jaw or put something in their mouth. They cannot choke on their tongue. It doesn't happen. Source: The neurologist that oversaw my father's care during his battle with brain cancer. Hi there, Social support worker, most of our service users have some form of seizures at least once a week. You very much can choke on your tongue, when you lose consciousness it can roll back to cover your airway, causing you to choke while unconscious. It’s impossible to do it while you’re AWAKE, but I’ve seen plenty of people require the elevated head/recovery position specifically so they don’t choke on their own tongue.

@@Jankyito didn't mean to offend and yes I'm aware it's impossible, you just worded your statement incorrectly - 'if airway is blocked, breathe through nose' doesn't make sense. if your airway is blocked, you can't breathe any which way you like until it's no longer blocked. just havin a joke.

I used to do CPR instructing. Two other songs to do CPR to are the ‘Star Wars Imperial March’ and ‘Another One Bites the Dust’. They all have a good rhythm to keep up the right compressions.

  • @HeartofFlame

We did a compression only class recently. It was intense. They had us stop counting and just compress. Most of the time an ambo isn’t going to make it to you in the first 10 seconds so expect to go longer than 2 minutes to that beat. It’s hard, but totally necessary. If you need to, tag out with someone. CPR saves lives!
