This is where Rice comes in. Rice is hard to get around in that 6. And he'll be in a pivot with Zinchenko. It still works because Kai is a good presser.

Nah, as the previous guy said he does track a lot, but he's an attacking player. He doesn't have much defensive capabilities as xhaka but he can hurt the opposition harder on attacking

Surprisingly in defensive phases he drops to a double pivot alongside declan rice I thought odergaard would and that’s why we would miss xhaka’s presence but havertz defends better than xhaka shockingly now the only thing left for havertz is build confidence and aggression on the ball in which I see slowly coming into his play £65m for havertz might actually become a steal. I’m slowly starting to see arteta’s vision for him like I said surprisingly 😂😂 a month ago I thought what the hell did we sign

He’s not an extremely talented player at all. Ridiculous, yes goal output and assists isn’t always the driving factor as to why one is a good player, but when you cost £73 mil, state in many interviews that you can play anywhere in the forward line and still not create any big chances and look like a ghost on the pitch the vast majority of the time, bar that “champions league goal” and other decent performances, he’s been a let down completely, people like the idea of him being a good player cos they try create reasons as to why they think he’s good.

@@TapesProductions I think if you know abit about football or have played at a decent level, you can clearly see the player in him by watching him. His touch is excellent, his overall technical ability is elite, he’s a very intelligent passer of the ball, he’s aggressive and works off the ball too. He has definitely underperformed but it’s not all his fault.

Don’t worry about havertz def ability that’s why we got rice plus he isn’t even that bad defensively, he reads game and anticipate well, presses and interceptions well, decent tackle, good ball recovery and works hard off the ball

i thought he would maybe come on as a sub for the person playing the number 8 to try help arsenal win a game rather than start to be honest but that sounds good aswell.

I never really understood why he played 9 at Chelsea. He obviously needs to be a bit behind/around the 9. I see him in a similar position like Müller in Munich. But he'll also be very good on one of the 8's

As exciting as havertz in the left sided 8 is, that left side becomes incredible weak defensively with zinchenko and potentially kiwior if gabi is ever out.

If he's playing in that role I could really see him succeeding at Arsenal, the way Arteta uses Xhaka is evident of that. People that don't really see him being a success there are people that were not paying attention to Xhakas off ball and on ball movements last season. Havertz needs to be played as a striker. The type of player he is, his technical ability, physical presence and height suggests that he is better suited in that position. I don’t know why Arteta is playing him in midfield. He isn’t a playmaker neither is he a defensive midfielder. He looks lost as he just isn’t suited to the position he is being played in. He is tall, fast, strong intelligent and has a naughty left foot on a good day. He is also very experienced for his age. Havertz could prove be a dangerous threat upfront for us given the opportunity.

He seems more like a player that will rotate with Odegaard as Vieira has been a massive flop. And play as a 9 if Jesus/Nketiah are unavailable. But we still need a DM/CM/CB and LB if Tierney leaves.

My understanding is that it takes all of the shots taken, works out how likely the average player is to score from that position. So a shot from the six yard line might be worth 0.8 xG and a shot from way outside the box might be worth 0.1. So if your goals are lower than your expected goals, it means you're missing chances you should score.

This is mostly wishful thingking for a £65 mil player. His best position is as ss/CAM. He only played 15 games as CM in leverkusan and scored 2 goals, 8 games for german and scored 1(data from transfermarkt). He could play as an 8 maybe but he's never been proven in that position.

Then how does Rice fit in that line up?

So between him and odegaard who drops more deep in midfield. Ig Havertz…but does he have Xhaka’s engine and work ethic….idk
