I am a rape victim as well, I was only 4 and 5 years old. I will never forget the trauma and fear I was going through. When you are told by your abuser not to tell anyone or else he is going to kill you, your whole body will be shaking, you feel frightened all the time. I was withdrawn, I was 9 years old and I still wet my bed, I learned later in life that bedwetting at that age is a sign that a child was molested. I remember vividly when I was at school I was always nervous, angry about little things. I wasn't friendly at all. I was carrying bitterness in my heart for many many years. I never told anyone what had happened to me. My parents split up when my siblings and I were very young which added injury to the trauma. Not until... I learned that there is God who can heal, restore and forgive. He allowed me to understand who He is and what His Son Jesus Christ had done for me. He washed me, He restored the broken spirit that I was able to let go of the past abuse and forgive the one who assaulted me. I was also able to tell my husband everything about my childhood and he was gracious to say that" no matter what I was going through that he'll give his unconditional love and support to help me healed completely. Thank you, God, for your amazing grace, and thank you that you chose me to be your daughter.

Different pastors explained that to forgive means to not seek revenge; and to seek justice or bring someone to justice does not mean that you failed to forgive. In fact, the Bible commands justice -- to bring someone to justice does not contradict God's Word that "vengeance" is His. God judges the heart -- when you bring someone to justice, what's your motivation? It's important to study the Bible in order to stay close to God and be able to spot true teachings and teachers. 1John 4:1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

I used to think like “hihingi sya ng sorry tas di rin naman magbabago edi useless din kung papatawarin ko sya” Hindi pala dapat ganun dahil forgiveness is a choice. Kung talagang gusto mong magpatawad, magpapatawad ka no matter what. Magbago man sya o hindi papatawarin mo sya. Thank you for this! ❤️

Hi.. You know what? It's true that it's hard to forgive. Because we need to have deep relationship with God in order to do such an amazing thing. Inner healing needs strong spiritual life in order to do that. And God is the one who will do it for us. We just need to allow Him because It is a process where in we need guidance from Him to take control over everything. And when we allow the Holy Spirit to help us, He will do it 360 degrees.

I had steven johnson syndrome after taking my treatment. I thought that was the end of my life. Life is a life long journey until such time I found Jesus in my life who saved me from these all brokenness. God who forgives and provides me grace to accept the fact that I am also a sinner. God allows me to experience all these things to see how faithful He is over my life. I have surrendered my life to Jesus and now continue serving His purpose - to glorify Him, to worship Him and to tell the world how faithful He is as always. 🌻

I was raped when I was 13 by my own father,i hated him for so many years. If my mind can kill,?I killed him million times,I was hurt and broken,I blamed him for everything that happened to me,I ran away at 13 ,didn’t finish school,I ruined myself because my FATHER ruined me first.I was so young and so broken,And all I can do was to pray,I prayed to God to heal me and teach me to forgive..it took me 11 years to finally forgive My Dad..I don’t know what happened,I woke up One day,the pain and anger wasn’t there anymore. That’s when I started telling my story and surprisingly it was not hard. When I forgave my father things started to get easy on me.God prepared me for the GREAT!I may not have the best childhood but He gave me greater things in Life!!!

You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” ... Genesis 1:26-27 - “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. This is really a powerful message not only to women who went through a tragedy but to everyone who has bitterness in their hearts. It's true that when you keep it to yourself, you're already the one who's victimizing yourself the second time and this bitterness will show even in small situations. My name has a "Joy" on it but I never really feel like using it but seeing Joy and knowing her story makes me see that she is indeed a Joyful person. Toni is really a good listener, you would always see that whenever she interviews someone, it feels like she's also literally seeing situation, empathy is there, she is rational and almost knows what her interviewee would say.

Because victims tend to go for abusers. Abusers are usually good with words and manipulation. If the abused women don’t have a relationship with the Lord like she does, they would end up getting victimized over and over again. That’s why everyone needs to have a deep relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so they can heal from their past, move forward, and learn to discern the Godly people that they need in their lives. Only Jesus can help them know who the wrong people are. God bless you, sis!

I cried so hard in this video sobra. This is the best episode of Toni Talks for me. Akala ko noon pinapahirapan lang ako ni Lord when all those bad things happened to me, like when i lost my babies(twin) due to miscarriage and when i went through a big family problem. I was so angry and napuno ng sakit at galit ang puso ko na di ko magawang magpatawad. Hearing those things about "Forgiveness and Peace" from Joy Mendoza i felt God in my heart and this is a reminder for me that everything that i am going through right now has a good purpose. I learned that Forgiveness is a choice and also a gift for myself, to break free from being inprison of anger. Ito siguro kasagutan sa hinihiling ko na peace of mind from the Lord. Praises be to God. May the Lord continue to use Toni and Joy as an instrument to bless others like me. ❤🙏

I could relate to Joy's older brother who cried because he couldn't protect his younger sister. My younger brother was robbed & stabbed and I wasn't there to protect him like I always did ever since he was young. He would always call me, magsusumbong pag may nangaaway sa kanya or nambbully sa kanya. Doesn't matter kung mas malaki sakin or lalake ung nang api sa kapatid ko, aawayin ko talaga. Hindi ako titigil hangga't di ako makaganti kahit papano for my brother. So when he died, I was so affected. Sama talaga ng loob ko. At one point I even blamed myself. I also blamed my parents for sending him to that school where he went to sabi ko sa kanila delikado dun pero walang choice kase wala kaming pera that time eh. My brother got a scholarship there eh. Pero praise God for his goodness & faithfulness. All things work together for good talaga. He healed our family after the tragedies that happened to us. Praise God parin!

Ms. Joy, you have no idea how God directed me to your book When A Good God Allows Rape which helped me so much of my recovery and forgiveness. It always reminds me so much of His Grace in the midst of everything. Your testimony is truly a blessing to others.

"Forgiveness is a choice" I remember years ago when I decided to forgive the people who killed my father. I remember doing it in a prayer then decide to surrender the justice my family deserves. I decided to forgive them because I wanted to have peace. To be free. To be happy. I was only 12 when this happened I got my peace 8 years after my father died. 2017 we finally got the justice my family deserve. I'm a living example that forgiveness is a choice. And I hope that if whoever's reading this will have the courage to forgive the people who gave so much pain in your life. It may take a while, but it will be worth it. 💕

This is such an eye opener for people who’s been struggling to forgive someone. I myself took 15 years to forgive my parents who abandoned me at 8 years old. Our family reunion happened during my father’s funeral and that’s the only time we’ve met after almost 2 decades. Looking back, it was a painful reconciliation but I made a Decision to let go of my grudge so I can continue pursuing my dreams without a baggage. Now that I am already an engineer, most of the people who knew my childhood journey are questioning why I am supporting my mom and her new family, they’d say “They never helped you in your success”. The only reason I could think of is because I have forgiven them even before they asked for it. What an awesome God! He took my heart and made it new.

I'm also in the process of healing right now. My father was assaulted by our neighbors using a gun in front of me and my PWD mom. I'm so broken and in pain and we are really longing for justice. To think that our case was dismiss by the fiscal office and that made me more broken. I even questioned God's justice. But this story lift my spirit up, "God's justice is wider than our justice's system." I choose to trust you now Lord. You are in control. We will see your goodness in the land of the living.

this video gives so much emotions to me. i was a victim as well and a child from two people who didnt love each other. i was never love from the start. i grew up with my mom who is with her live-in partner. and it was her partner who did things to me when i was 10 years old. i told my mom what happened and she said its all my fault. that evertime it happens its always my fault. as a young child i believe her. i didnt tell anyone because i was ashame of my self. cause i thought its my fault. i tried to protect myself with whatever i could think will help as a child. but i didnt know anything back then. it continues for years till i reach an age where i can finally understand everything. i was so mad on everything. i blamed everyone for not helping the younger me who suffers everyday. the young me who felt powerless and hopeless. i was full of anger i almost ruin my entire life. i tried to kill my self. i tried to kill them. i almost quit school. i was so messed up. i cried for justice to the young me who didnt have anyone back then. 'dont let yourself be victim twice'. its true. some people will never apologize. and it will only be harder on you if you dont let go. you forgive them not for their sake but for your own peace. to set yourself free from the darkpast. God knows everything. Only God can give the true justice.

Watching and listening her recalling that event made me realize that it is only through God's grace, mercy and greatness that we will be able to go through the seasons in our life.
