How Journalling Can Help With Binge Eating Recovery

HOW JOURNALING CAN HELP WITH BINGE EATING RECOVERY - If you're anything like me the idea of journalling sounds good in theory, but it's never been something I have been able to fully commit to. Not on a regular basis anyway. However, if we take the idea that journaling is simply 'writing stuff down', there are a few ways we can use it as a self help tool when it comes to stopping binge eating and achieving body acceptance. It doesn't take a big commitment; you don't even have to do it every day, but in this video I share some ways you can harness the power of putting pen to paper to help you find peace around food and body image.
My book, I Can't Stop Eating, is available on Amazon.

Thank you for this. I am right at the start of healing my relationship with food and have noticed how I eat emotionally. I think journaling will really help

My old journal entries provide a glimpse into my mind and what I was thinking. I kept saying, "don't eat this, never eat, cut out this..." Such a roller coaster. Too bad I didn't know then what I know now.

Great video Sarah!!👍👍👍I started a journal like a month ago as a way to understand more clearly what is happening in my mind, my stressors, etc. The truth is that I was desperate so even when I am terrible writing down about myself I decided to start a journal. And I have to admit that it has been really helpful. Now I am also focussing my energy on writing down all the small wins I have in my day. I really apreciate your video about the small wins Sarah! It is really helpful 👍👍👍💕💕💕💕💕🇨🇱

@@TheBingeEatingTherapist It would be good to find out if you have any tips on what to do if you are really tired and cannot work out hunger. Also about how to stop eating in secret even if it means eating 'bad' foods in front of other people when you have recently visibly gained weight xx

Thanks for the app recommendation. Never heard of it. I hope it helps me identify how I am feeling.

Journalling is very useful for me and I would include three good things within my diary every day, which makes me value what I have. I start to write the journal after the spread of COVID-19, even though I rarely go out and meet my friends, I don't feel alone!!!!

杨金灿 I did a very similar thing - writing down 3 things I was thankful for everyday until I filled a notebook. It was life changing! 💕

Have you heard of the app rr stands for recovery record the symbol is a purple bird with orange around it,for eating disorders.I think it’s a good app I myself have a hard time writing in my food it talks about feelings also don’t have to put portions just write anything you want.It is free you can set up times where you get notifications to log in your food if you want.Always has inspiration quotes to motivate you to have more positive reinforcement.Wondering if you ever heard of it and what your thoughts are thanks.

Hey Allison, no I haven’t heard of that one. I have heard of Rise Up and Recover, which is an app (with a turquoise icon) that sounds like the same thing. I think these apps can be useful. It’s an opportunity to check in with how you are feeling and bringing awareness to your choices. For some, logging food can be quite triggering as it may feel diet-y. I’m all for anyone giving them a go and seeing if they are valuable for them. It sounds like you have found it beneficial, which is great! 🙌🏼😍

My core training was TA, but I consider myself more integrative. My personal favourite modalities I now draw on are Compassion Focused, Acceptance and Commitment and Existential.

I use the term ‘in recovery’. I have to remain vigilant to preserve my recovery. This doesn’t seem to be true for everyone who recovers from BED
