-----------------------
Protein Bar - 1:01
Meatballs - 6:35
Pork Chili - 12:38
Recipe:
-----------------------
Step 1: Protein Bars
Ingredients
1 ½ lbs sausage
15 eggs
10 button mushrooms
20 cherry tomatoes
5 ounce container baby spinach
2 cups cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper
1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2) Heat a large sautee pan on high heat and brown the sausage. Add the mushrooms and sautee until browned, about 3 minutes. Add the spinach and cook for an additional minute, until slightly browned, then add sliced cherry tomatoes, stir, and take off the heat.
3) Whisk eggs, salt and pepper, and cheese together, then toss in your sausage and vegetables and whisk.
4) Line a deep baking dish with parchment paper, then pour egg mixture on top, and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes, until cooked.
5) Remove from oven, allow to cool for 20 minutes, then turn over, cut into 5 portions, and wrap.
Equipment
* Sautee pan
* Silicone spatula
* Large mixing bowl
* Whisk
* Deep baking dish
* Parchment paper
* Cutting board
* Knife
Step 2: Buffalo Chicken Meatballs
Ingredients
* 3 lbs ground turkey
* ¾ cup breadcrumbs
* 1 tsp salt
* 6 ounces crumbled blue cheese
* ¼ cup buffalo sauce
* 1 bunch scallions
* 3 eggs
* 3 garlic cloves
* Amoroso hoagie roll
* Shrettuce
* Sliced tomato
* Pickles
* Ranch
1) Add ground turkey, blue cheese, salt, and breadcrumbs to a large bowl.
2) Add eggs, buffalo sauce, scallions, and garlic to a blender and blend. Add the wet ingredients to the meat and mix.
3) Use an ice cream scoop to scoop out the meatballs onto a parchment lined baking sheet, and bake at 550 degrees for 12 minutes.
4) Douse in buffalo sauce and toss.
5) Slice a hoagie roll in half, add ranch, lettuce, tomato, and meatballs, and eat.
Equipment
* Large mixing bowl
* Blender
* Ice cream scoop
* Baking sheet + silicone mat
Step 3: Pork
Ingredients
* 2 lbs pork shoulder
* 1 ½ tsp salt
* 1 cup water
* 32 ounces canned salsa roja
* 1 zucchini
* 1 tsp olive oil
1 can black beans, rinsed
1) Cut pork into 1 inch chunks. Season with salt, then add to a slow cooker with salsa verde and water. Cook on low for like 4 hours, or however long. Or, if you don’t have a slow cooker, throw it in a 300 degree oven, covered, for 3 hours, then uncovered for one hour.
2) Dice zucchini, heat a large sautee pan on high heat and add olive oil. When the olive oil starts smoking, add zucchini and sautee for 3 minutes. Add rice and black beans and sautee for an additional 5.
3) Add zucchini rice stuff to a bowl, top with chili verde and pickled veggies. Eat it.
Equipment
* Instant pot
* Sautee pan
* Cutting board
* Knife
* Silicone Spatula

    When I first got my cat and he misbehaved so badly, I had to start hissing at him and it was the only thing that worked. So for 5 years, I've been hissing at my cat. Alone, in front of people. I don't regret it.

    As a long time cat owner of many cats, hissing is more effective than any other tool. Spraying them just makes them dislike you. They learn to avoid sticky tapes and any physically annoying deterrents. Hissing they understand.

    Yes! I do shredded chicken or pork in a pressure cooker (used to use the oven but don't need to now, but totally possible as Josh said). Rice with beans and veggies. So good. Kind of like a burrito bowl almost, which people go order out for. I also love basmati rice because it is way less starchy so very easy to cook, and I love the taste. I've see a few videos from Indian cooks and they say you pretty much boil it like pasta and drain (I'm no expert though, just basing this off a few videos I've seen). I just put it in my rice cooker without washing and it comes out perfect.

For real, it made me way less of a perfectionist and I realised 'cooking is just throwing stuff together, you won't get poisoned most of the time' (especially if you don't prepare meat). Ever since those videos, cooking has been my 'me-time'. I love going to the store between like 4 en 5pm, dreaming of what I will make for me and my partner. We really struggled with this when we had our first kiddo, but we started writing out recipe's and now we have like 40 recipe's that we just add to a shopping cart for meal prep. We write out a "food calendar" like you had for school lunches and the shopping and stuff is simply adding it to a cart and picking it up, we rarely shop anymore and our spending has decreased dramatically because its all done. On sundays I make breakfast bites in a muffin tin that's just eggs spinach bacon/sausage and cheese I throw them in little baggies and freeze them. They go in the door of my freezer and my kid makes his own breakfast every morning by microwaving a baggie for 2 minutes. I also cook my chicken/pork/beef with garlic onion and olive oil and bag it up and freeze it in quart freezer bags, then pull it out for each meal. Basically every meal takes 15 minutes or less. We have a lot of rice, the instant pot is 1:1 for 12 minutes perfect rice every time. Spanish and fried rice I cook the rice a day early and fridge it. Just start keeping track of what meals you love, and pay specialy attention to what takes the most time to complete each meal. Things important to us, 1 Pan meals that are quick to clean up. 15 minutes or less, this means meat is usually pre-cooked on sundays. It's saved us money and time, and stress.

    The first one is literally just a breakfast casserole. Like, I know people forget about casseroles outside of the context of Thanksgiving green bean casserole and weird 1950s foods, but I’m pretty sure at least anybody in the South or Midwest US would recognize the “protein bars.” Though that recipe looks better than the one I do, I’ll try that out next time I make it!

    @@jadoncowell1009 That's what a casserole is in the UK. In the United States, a casserole or hot dish is typically a baked food with three main components: pieces of meat (such as chicken or ground meat) or fish (such as tuna) or other protein (such as beans or tofu), various chopped or canned vegetables (such as green beans or peas), and a starchy binder (such as flour, potato or pasta); sometimes, there is also a crunchy or cheesy topping. 100% could see his egg bake called a "low carb casserole" on a Midwest mom blog.

    Watching this, & comparing it with the recent Hot Dog podcast where they say that the thought of cooking at home makes them sick. It makes sense that he meal preps so he doesn't have to do more cooking at home during the week. Improvise, adapt, overcome. I love the idea of meal prep. It makes me feel like i have my life together & I'm not just a constantly internally screaming mess at any given moment. Meal prepping for four people makes me instantly panic though cause the only real free time i have that I'm not home or church is Saturday & i don't want to spend the only day i have with my husband making meatballs.

I always called it Stuff With Things In It, but bowl of slop has now been added to my vocabulary. Idk, I'm glad to see someone else with the same methodology to cooking, because while I embrace my penchant for peasant food, not many people I know appreciate it in the same way.

    My favourite meal prep trick is to make soup with half the amount of water you would want, then fill my lunch containers only halfway and store in the fridge. When I bring it to work, I leave it at room temperature in the morning, and instead of microwaving it, I just use the boiling water function from the lunchroom coffee machine (or you could use a kettle) to fill up the container. That way you can make lunch for a week with a regular size pot even if you like big lunches, and if you have access to a machine that dispenses boiling water, it's even faster to heat up than using a microwave.
