@@SublimeGemini Girl, pandemic showed me how fast makeup expires. And it’s so expensive. I wanna downsize my entire collection, have just a few itens (basic). But Angelika talks as if Jeffree Star is going through bankruptcy, but he’s is smart enough to reinvent himself. The question with makeup is about all brands, Beauty Community has started to die with Dramaggedon (if we recall, Tati Westbrook has started it trying to hunt James Charles down). Then pandemic came, people using masks and owning less money.

the reason i think that jeffree's bad launches are treated differently as to someone like jaclyn hill, is not only because of the cult following that he's grown since myspace, but also because of another issue of possible internalised misogyny because when jeffree makes a mistake he's forgiven almost instantly after he tweets about it once. but Jaclyn had to scratch and claw and have her entire career called into question and almost destroyed. a man can learn from mistakes he makes but women are meant to be perfect from the start

Another factor I think is also just that his products are more unique and interesting. He has provocative and edgy themes, creative color stories and options, and pretty packaging. No offense to Jaclyn but her makeup doesn’t draw me because there’s nothing special about it, at all. So that makes people more willing to sacrifice some morals for Jeffree than her. The same thing happened with Kay Von D back in the day. People would say they didn’t like her but bought the products anyway because they were unique

Yes, please, such an interesting topic. It' s as sad and disgusting as real, my dear. After more than 20 years in the industry (I' m a MUA) I can tell that 99'9% of women will believe what a gay male MUA advices them with a silent smile and will buy it blindly because he recommended it exclusively to her. If it' s me saying EXACTLY the same words: they can feel offended, they doubt about everything "because a friend of mine was told that...." "I saw a video where..." or endlessly stupid excuses. The only chance I' ve always had is showing my talent in action: two friends, two simultaneus appointments for a party look, (a guy and me) 12 hours later, mine appears incredible in the pictures and comes back home perfect. His is a racoon before the dessert is served. The misogyny is so deep inoculated that women are the first who practice it against other women. It' s projection at it' s finest. Buuuut, it has started to change only the last years. So often a teen of any gender with make up on has way more knowledge than an outdated dinosaur🤭 and chooses me because "I' ve been seeing you and I love your style, I want you to tell me how do you do it and if this product is right for what I want". I still haven' t lost my hope. Neither my job🤦🏻‍♀️

i actually ordered the mini orgy palette and was shocked at the pebbling/milling, to see this come from JSC was confusing, but i didn't make a big deal out of it, was just a little sad i couldn't use most of the colors i liked. i had no idea the minis were being replaced to everyone who bought one, one just showed up at my house one day with an apology note and a brand new palette. the palette is one of my favorites actually, the metallics are amazing and i'm obsessed with all of the gold colors. such a shame that this one had such an unfortunate launch. for what it's worth, the quality of the replaced palette was immaculate, and i think JSC's response was appropriately professional. i never thought i'd get a brand new palette without even reaching out to them.

I also think that the rest of the beauty industry, especially the drugstore tier, has greatly improved their formulas, narrowing JS's entire niche. Why would I spend $70 on a "perfect quality" palette from Edgelord McNasty when for $20 I can get a "pretty dang good" palette from basically anywhere else with far less value dissonance? Post-COVID the entire makeup scene changed and bright colors, giant palettes, and justifying racism and SA for pretty powders was left in the dust.

The palettes were just too expensive for an eyeshadow palette, especially when some of the shades are not worth the hype and not at all pigmented like described which some of the shade were amazing many others were below par. Also I had no clue which shade to purchase in the concealer and it was so pasty white I couldn’t use but I thought the packaging was so cute until that star started coming for me. Lol. If Jeffree wasn’t such an ass I’d still be supporting him but after seeing him drug and assault someone in a disturbing yt vid I was done for ever. He and Shane were not who I thought they were. I believe the stolen shade was C5, which is the neutral fair-light shade. They were available on launch but sold out quickly, unsure if it’s because his demographic is mostly white, if people were panic-buying the infamous stolen shade, if he just listed fewer available to make it follow the story, or if the stock was truly shorter than the other shades.

I remember the concealer theft, some where on FB for sure but really ALOT ended up at flea markets in cali, in person swap meets. I touched a few, fake makeup isnt new to be found at open markets like that, but the concealer had obviously better more legit looking packaging. So that's my conspiracy, most of the stolen product ended up being sold under circumstances no more secure than a garage sale. *meaning no one questioning its origin, cash only transactions.

The police might value the products as 40,000 rather than 2.5 million is because they took the value of how much money it took to make the product itself rather than the price it was going to be sold at. But what the police report show if the above is true is that Jeffree Star has a crazy up charge to make his profits huge. Jeffree could be lying or exaggerating since he’s been shown in the past and current as doing so. But there is an alternative explanation that could show he’s telling the truth but it’s just a theory

As professional makeup artist it sure as hell was not. It was HUGE, like WAY WAY WAY too huge. I've been wondering, what would happen if JSC pulled a KVD? If Jeffree was no associated with the brand, JSC was renamed but they still carried the old products Jeffree created while getting other artists to make new products; would people buy it? Is the formula good enough that if Jeffree isn't a part of the brand anymore people could put aside what they feel for Jeffree and either try his stuff or use his stuff again? Or would it not make a difference either way? I feel like this would definitely be interesting and probably beneficial for the brand; considering how majority of the population, except for his cult followers, feel about Jeffree, but I dont think it's a path that Jeffree would ever choose. Another thing I think about is who is even still buying his stuff? Are his cult followers that rich and that loyal to his brand that they're keeping his entire empire afloat? Cause he's doing new launch after new launch like his shit is selling like hot cakes, but you look for reviews and maybe see 3 people with less than 10k views reviewing it. It was impossible to publicly dislike jeffree or his makeup without strong backlash for a time. His makeup was considered gold standard for so many people. Remember that mother who beat her toddler because the poor baby got into her jeffree star eyeshadow palette? Eyeshadow was more important to her than her own child. I know that was an extreme case, but it truly was a time when makeup was a priority for people, and Jeffree knew exactly how to benefit from that mindset.

I used to watch tons of beauty guru videos including Jeffree Star's but I got tired of the dramas and stopped watching them altogether 🤣🤣 And of course, when I stopped watching them I couldn't care less about their makeup brands as well. Just like you said, the downfall of all KZreadrs' brands happened because the brand was so tied to their personalities. Who would want to buy products (and go through all the international shipping + customs) from a KZreadr who is so problematic? The last thing I want to do is support and/or give money to problematic/bad people. I live in Korea and there're tons of great products that I can just order online and get in 2 days maximum - and in most cases, the shipping is free if you buy more than 10-20$.

I emailed customer service and they said it was suppose to be like that and I’m like hmm…. False advertising…. I wonder how many other things they’ve lied about. Hmmm… if a whole make-up shade is stolen, as a business owner, I would definitely leverage my network to prevent it from being black marketed. I head brand for a pretty large cosmetic company. And we would be freaking out if this transpired. We can’t be responsible for non-QA cosmetic with our label. So I get him doing the video. Moreover, the shade C5 was a “limited launch”. It sold out fast and had trouble with restocks.

It removed any foundation under it and then wouldn’t blend out to cover up the mess it had made. I only used it a few times was such a waste of money. I think people and influencers were afraid of him and speaking out against him or his makeup. They knew he could be so vicious about people so they didn’t want his negative attention so that’s why the brand’s mistakes were ignored. I also think that people bought into his own hype and were brainwashed. He is such a good sales person so I think that’s why people think still think their makeup is such good quality. When this stuff was going down, right before the dhavy stuff, Jeffrey’s palette had those threads in it. And he got online within a couple days, made an explanation (even if it was bullshit who knows) and said what they’d do to fix it and what people with palettes issues could do (I think on that that’s one) When Jaclyn had issues with her nasty lipsticks she hid away for at least a week, just auto responses from the JHM brand Twitter responded. After she did give an explanation it was weird and didn’t make sense, and then she hid away again. She diminished the amount of issues, her company made returns next to impossible. I know jeffree sucks a lot and I can’t say how he handled further issues from then cus I stopped following him when I heard about the dhavy shit, but, for me, it was the way Jaclyn handled the problem that made me frustrated with her. She’s yelling online just recently that her lipsticks weren’t contaminated which is a lie. She doesn’t think she did anything wrong and doesn’t act very professional when it comes to her line.

Like the whole of his makeup peak was decent products. Whereas Jaclyn had one hit that was a collab and her first major solo project was a disaster and she handled the situation poorly (not taking responsibility, throwing customers under the bus, etc.).
