  • @astreastar-
    @astreastar-3 жыл бұрын

    So far he has blitzed the same amount as last year, 90 times. People just don't understand how amazingly effective he has been pressuring the QB though. He had a pressure rate of 17.8% last year but he jumped up to 25.5% this year. His coverage isn't bad at all. Having to switch to a completely new defensive system and working with new guys with no offseason. Plus he dealt with an injury and so did his other DB starters being in and out of the lineup because of injuries. They haven't been able to have consecutive weeks playing through the whole game together but now they've had 3 straight weeks. This is super important in building that chemistry and continuity in the new defensive group. That's why they had been historically bad through at least the first half of the season and it wasn't just Jamal that was bad in coverage during those weeks, everyone was doing bad.

    I wouldn't go so far as we've never seen this before, just not at this high a level consistently. The Cardinals used to blitz Adrian Wilson a lot and he was an important piece in generating pressure when he was with the Cardinals. He didn't have the pass rushing arsenal Adams does, they didn't blitz him as much but for two to three years Adrian Wilson was a beast when it came to blitzing from the safety position.

    Jamal Adams doesn’t conform to the modern positions my school has a similar type player to him and our coach plays him at a position similar to a monster in a 5-3 defense but he’s so quick he plays the monster from 3 yards behind the linebackers so you never know if he is rushing or dropping back. (Edit) he was very similar to what Isaiah Simmons looked like at Clemson not quite he right size to be a linebacker.
